I was actually a little heartbroken, I had just started buying minis only to realize that there hadn't been many updates. So this news is very, very promising for someone who wants to get into the game for the first time. I got into it by accident, my girlfriend bought me a superstar destroyer thinking it was a model and knowing that I would like it, and she's right. I love it. But, now that I have it I want more, and I want to try the game and learn how to play.
Honestly it's entirely plausible to buy the sets purely for display. It's probably the cheapest way, as painted models from independent sellers go for way higher. Though I am learning a bit on how to play as well. Really interesting game.
As long as you don't feel like you have to always have the latest hotness, which is a much healthier way to be about things like this anyway, Armada is still a blast and that's all that matters in the end. Not a lot of other games out there that I know of doing the same sort of fleet battles. Hopefully they've either seen that it's popular still or gotten the mandate to keep it alive and we eventually see continued development into new product.
I just got into Armada about two weeks ago. I bought a Republic and Separatist starter pack with their additional ships. Needless to say, I’m addicted. It’s pretty awesome that they came out with this update soon after I started too. Super hyped!
Just bought my starter set for Armada and plan on building a Rebel fleet. Thank you so much for your content! It helped me make the decision to pull the trigger and get into the game!
I read Fenn Rau's ability as a way to activate more Squadrons than the ship allows. You have a squadron value of 2. Activate 1st squadron. Activate Rau, then you can activate an additional 2 generic squads after him as long as they're within range.
My local group just started playing Xwing and Armada again as the excitement for Shatterpoint is building. I've got a decent sized amount of models for both, so it's a good time here.
You're the first video series I started watching when I got curious about starting Armada. Great stuff my man! You've made me really excited about starting my space warfare journey.
Seen a lot of people concerned that because of Shatterpoint that Legion & other AMG like Armada are dead, so this is super exciting to continue to show new players that are new to tabletop that these games aren’t dead!
Fenn Rau + Hera (X-Wing) + Luke + Wedge being activated from a yavaris nebulon with Adar Tallon as commander. maybe a toryn farr and another friendly ship. adar tallon could be used on luke with yavaris, or on Fenn Rau to activate an additional two squadrons totalling to 6 with yavaris
So I don't know if Anakin gets to give you three attacks on a double arc. The rule state that ships may only make two attacks per activation. The rules also stayed that a salvo is considered to be an attack for all intents and purposes except for adding dice. I don't see where there's leeway to allow a third attack. Instead, I suspect that the second attack, if taken as a salvo, allows more specific dice color control since Anakin allows you to add any color of of die that is in your printed rear arc
I had been wanting to bring my friends into Armada but hadn't seen many updates recently and it kinda bummed me out, I'm happy to see this out now tbh.
What I really want if we get more physical stuff would be the Lucrehulk and Trident Assault ships for the Confederacy and maybe another small or medium ship, the LAAT and the Eta-2 for the Republic
I love the fact that AMG is moving away from making alternate ships (which would have become very odd at some point) and focus on commanders and upgrades. Anakin - Love the idea of making a commander based on salvo, unfortunately, the execution is terrible. Insanely overpowered, thank god this is only a digital document so easy to edit and fix, hoping for an emergency fix like Vader. General Draven - Interesting concept, but simply very unfun to play. The fact that he is a lot better against a certain type of list makes him very match-up dependent. The amount of rule issues he is causing doesn't help his case. Not a welcome addition to the game. Asajj Ventress - She is an interesting option for TF and Dooku list. She won't have a huge impact on the game and that's ok. Governor Pryce - Definitely doesn't seem as OP now that we have seen the other stuff, but don't fool yourself she still is. Imo she will be the strongest officer in the game, and even worst than that she benefits the Onager the most which is the last thing we needed right now in Armada. Yet another terrible addition to the game hoping this gets fixed. Vult Skarris - The Empire is getting their own Shara Bey, it is original: no, is it interesting: no, is it fun to play with or against: no, and icing on the dumb it makes the interceptor see even more play. Really not a fan of this one Fenn Rau - My favorite card released in RR 2 by far, he does something very unique and compensates for a massive weakness of the rebel (low squadron value). I really love the fact that they didn't simply fixed that issue by giving the Quasar to the rebels. I finally will get my Gauntlet fighters on the table. The ability is very very strong but he cost 24 points so I think he is quite balanced and I also love the fact that he runs well with a Biggs X-wing ball. Wat Tambor - The first named ace without a non-keyword ability, but I am not sure if that's such a good idea. Cool interaction between escort and screen but at the end of day it's just a tough squad with decent anti-squad firepower, so overall a pretty bland design. It defo will make Bellubulab hit the table more often which is nice. Matchstick - Love to see the Clone war getting rogue squads , and it's really nice that it is working with Hyperspace ring. However this squad is simply insanely undercosted for what it does, so the fact that it will be an auto-include makes it a lot less interesting IMO. Once again this is a digital document and hoping for some changes to be made. Overall my impression of RR2 is pretty negative, there are a few interesting stuff in there, but the negatives seem to far outweigh the positives. I personally will not be playing with RR2 until it's fixed. With that being said, as long as AMG is willing to listen to the community and adjust the content, I appreciate the effort they are putting into releasing new content for free. With a fair bit of changes, I can see this RR 2 becoming a great addition to the game just like RR 1 was.
I did think Anakin and Pryce were a bit op. Anakin should at least cost more than 29 points. Pryce should be limited to ship size and/or range with an additional rule stating it cannot be used on ignition attacks.
Just started to get back into armada after a long break, it's great to see there is still some work being done on it. Really would love to see a new model though.
I thought for sure the Mandalrian Gauntlet would be light side, either Bo Katan or Sabine. That looks like it will hit pretty hard with Fenn Rau though.
Pair Fenn Rau with Hera, Biggs, Jan and a buch of X-Wings and enjoy lethality. Your silly little GR-75 can now activate 4 to 6 squads. An MC80 can do 8 in one go!
I'm a bit disappointed that the CIS didn't get a squadron-focused commander (Wat Tambor or TI-99 or whoever), but that being said this is still neat. Anakin looks real scary.
it has been left to die off... theyre not making new miniatures for it. the only reason behind these rapid reinforcement packs are coming out is to try to sucker people to buy the remaining overstock for armada. but its already impossible to find players for this game.
On your other video you said you believe that future release of xwing would start coming out with two ships per pack do you believe any two packs would be mixed I want like tie interceptor and royal interceptor… maybe a tie punisher with another type of tie… different paint job on awings…mining tie two pack… some scum two packs what do you think?
I think Anakin is too strong, potentially game breaking. The fact that at close range I can throw 20 dice at 1 ship is insane. And if you can last first, you are going to kill everything minus an SSD. Then again. That SSD is going to be hurting. I am excited for RR2 and the fact they brought Anakin in, but I think they need to change him up.
@Crabbock Question: On Fenn Rau, would his additional Squadron activation happen after he moves and shoots? May be a little bit trickier to get the full benefit if so.
Seems kinda okay. Some squadron aces cool. Where are the new dope ships? Why can't the rebels have a munificient star frigate? It just feels a little under whelming compared to RR1.
Very happy about Rebel Gauntlet that compensates for rebel ships having low squad values. New rebel commander was something I've wanted for a while, he seems okay, very anti squad but I think he is overcosted. Not happy about Pryce though, empire already has too many dice fix options and seeing the onager get yet another buff is frustrating. Anakin should bring republic back into competitive play, his ability sounds very fun. Hopefully in the near future we actually get new physical expansions
I love these cards, especially rebel and republic, but they will have to sort out or statuate the wording to us… but it is great to see them moving forward with new stuff
To quote Parker in Alien, "Wonderful defense mechanism, you don't dare kill it." Skerris is the empire version of Shara, but worse if the conditions you mention are in effect!
Uff, Its good that at least they gave us that, but I would have liked a bit more from them. Maybe Im just wishing for a new ship to be anounced and anything that is not exactly that its going to be disapointing to me. Specially with all the new ships we have seen in the Disney + anouncements and there are still some ships to be released for the clonewars. If the problem is money, that making miniatures has become more expensive, just charge more, but at least more expensive new miniatures is better than no new miniatures at all
I'm toying around with pairing Fenn Rau with a Liberty title MC80... Maybe not the most effective use of him but definitely something new and fun thanks to RR2
That was one of my first thoughts too! Put Adar Talon on there and your squadron token can effectively activate six squadrons. Fenn twice thanks to Adar and then four generics thanks to Fenn. If you have flight controllers on there too then each of those squadrons gets plus one blue die too. If you have Garm as your commander and Ahsoka nearby you get to do that every turn, plus whatever else you want to do with your Liberty....
@@samfirth1592 Just a follow up, but I flew an Agate Mon Karen fleet in a tournament this weekend. My essential build around Fenn Rau was a GR-75 with expanded hanger bays, 2x VCX-100s, and 2x B-Wings... I did pretty decent with it!
@@devyndiaz6001 Thanks for the update! I'm glad you got some good use out of Fenn! The GR-75 is already a cheap source of squadron activations, I imagine pairing one with Fenn worked well. I tried him in a friendly game. He seems tricky to use for an alpha strike so I set up for a strong retaliation instead. Biggs, X-Wing Hera, Fenn, and five generic X-Wings flying with Adar Talon flight controllers and expanded hangars on the Gallant Haven. My friend got the alpha in with five of his squadrons, but Biggs and Gallant Haven let me tank the damage. Then Gallant Haven activated all nine of my squadrons, four of them thanks to Adar Talon double activating Fenn. Because of flight controllers that was effectively an extra twenty dice, plus re-rolls from Hera - it was fun! Kyrsta on an MC80-L is a really good idea, I need to try that! What upgrades did you put on there? I ran him in a friendly game and tried to maximise his bonus activations.
….doesn’t Anakin just give the ship a third attack by spending that defense token? Maybe I’m reading that wrong but that was my first reaction when I read it. Anyone able to clarify?😊
