I love your reviews, Guy. Always honest and unbiased. Me personally, I went with the outcast recently. For me it was about cost. The Maxx is awesome. But the outcast is nearly $100 cheaper. I’ve owned almost exclusively traxxas since I really got into the hobby way back in 1998 when I bought the traxxas nitro sport. And once I’m keen on trusting something, it’s hard to convince my OCD brain otherwise. But lately I’ve gotten bitten by the RC bug again and have been buying the electric cars. I started with the XRT and the slash BL 2s. Both pretty pricey, but I’ve always stuck with traxxas. Then a funny thing happened. Watching literally hundreds of reviews on here from guys like you, I started becoming more open to looking hard at the other RC manufacturers. And one I landed on was Arrma. I now not only have the XRT and Slash BL 2s, but I also added the Arrma Gorgon, Granite 3s 4x4, and outcast 4s V2, and I couldn’t be happier with all 3 of them. My wallet hates me the past few months 🤣🤣 But when the RC bug bites you, it REALLY sinks it’s teeth in! 😂 Trust me I’m not by any means a traxxas hater. I still have a basement full of their old school nitro vehicles. But lately Arrma prices are so much lower than traxxas comparables, and are just as durable if not more, that I find myself for the first time in my life, ignoring the traxxas aisle when I go to my LHS. Perfect example is this new Rustler Ultimate 4x4 traxxas released. It’s a 3s vehicle retailing for $529!! I bought BOTH the Arrma granite 3s AND the Gorgon and combined it was only $498! So I got a 3s vehicle comparable to the new rustler ultimate, plus a cool 2wd retro looking and feeling monster truck, and still had an extra $30 in my pocket. And, the outcast which is a 4s vehicle, was only $469, that’s $60 cheaper! I still love traxxas, but their high prices are squeezing me away from their products. Just my opinions. I loved this video and love both the outcast and the Maxx. But as someone who’s always paying attention to cost and value, I’m riding the Arrma bus a lot more recently 😂 Great video man.
yes TRAXXAS will always be that upscaled cadillac price point. I Don't really have "favorites" i myself am just looking for COST EFFECTIVE FUN just like you!
@@rcguygarage yes sir! It’s all about the fun! I’m sure you’ll eventually do a review on that new traxxas rustler ultimate and I’m very interested to see what your thoughts will be on it, with in my opinion, such a high price point.
@@BobPavlow I already have thoughts but that's only because I'm from that automotive world. Point blank If you do not buy the highest priced item ultimate Platinum has every bell and whistle once you start to upgrade because you bought the base model you will be screwed for money in the end no matter what point blank and at that point in time it may be even worse because a majority of the parts will also need to be replaced that are near those items that you're upgrading. This is the automotive industry and the hobby is designed right alongside it. They have done years of research watching other companies and they pay people to figure out what is the best way to pull that money out of your wallet and not necessarily in the fairest of ways either. But like I've always said it's the people that do the buying It's the people that are addicted or feel they need to have something or want. but to some extent if you want that additional fun that you see with your own eyes and ears and sometimes smell you're going to have to pay for it either way.
Shoulda told him if he wants to try a more stable Arrma that keeps its wheels on the ground better, there's this other new 4S V2 called the Kraton... Im sure he would very much enjoy a Kraton :)
This is why Iam here, this is truly a great video. Thank you brother😉👍🏼💯 i definitely appreciate your time & effort in these videos. Iam in agreement with how you guys feel about both trucks
Launching the outcast is always going to be tough no matter the version. It is short to be a stunt truck even though the weight isn't rear biased. Maybe the soft rear springs on the maxx helps to stop it flipping.
Cool to see a second opinion. Swap the tires and do a tire comparison. That would be cool to see. 🤔 I love both RCs but if a had to choose I'd have to go with the Outcast 🔥 The Maxx is awesome as well don't get me wrong lol Cool vid Guy 😎 🔥👍✌️
You're doing a great job on these videos. It's really an honest in depth review of the outcast and I think it's an amazing platform. Still to date my notorious 6s is my favorite even tho I love all my other arrmas. But this will be added and might find number 2 spot for me👍
Love this spending time together ❤️ i did the samething yesterday with my dad he was having a blast with my Xmaxx and i was driving my kyle busch nascar truck had a nice time not very close to my dad but i had a nice time glad to see you guys are doing the same have fun and be safe🙏🏼 oh yea and next month im getting a Maxx also and giving my dad my 1/8 4s truck hes been wanting it lol but doesnt know it will be his soon 🤪
The kraton wheels on the Outcast help with the throttle sensitivity and flipping. The extra offset makes quite a difference. And mojave exb wheels give even more stability.
What kind camera mount are you using to follow the truck automatically as it drives by? Super professional looking effect and I’d love to add something like that to my bag of tricks.
Love your videos Guy. Before the summer is over I’d love to do a bash get together with you. I’m only about 1.5hrs away and my family is in winchedon mass.
Great vid guy! But I think the traxxas sledge would be a better comparison with the arma , my buddy has a Max and I wasn’t impressed with the truck what do you think ?
@@rcguygarage Is there much difference from the 4s outcast to the 4s kraton? My thoughts are that the kraton is aimed at the Maxx just like the 8s kraton and the xmaxx.
Right but sometimes it's all in the wording of something the outcast is known as the stunt truck the Traxxas Max is known as the stunt truck that's the only reason why I'm comparing that this way and I do believe I said in a prior video that if there was a comparison you almost would think to compare the Traxxas Maxx V2 to the Kraton V2 and that is only based upon length but then again there's the adage of stunt truck. To be quite honest with you I have no idea where I am in videos I have got so much RC related content that my computer is literally dying
After watching this video just proved my point Traxxas is more beginner friendly and Arrma is more for moderate to more advanced people who actually don't mind changing oils , diff tuning etc
How often do these oils need to be changed? for my first rc I want the arrma just because it’s more appealing to me but I hope I’m not making the wrong choice cuz either way I’d probably get it and enjoy the learning curve to it.
This comment makes ZERO sense. You can change diff oils and other components to suit your driving style and preferences with either brand. Sounds like you’re just trying to convince yourself over a recent Arma purchase. Arma diffs typically need to be tuned and shimmed out of the box which is why Arma includes diff shims in the box. It’s a well known fact in the RC community that Arma diffs are not the best. But hey…..you re-convinced and identified yourself as “more advanced” so you probably already know this 🙄
For most people who buy either of these RCs they will work fine out of the box. I wouldn’t say either is easier or harder to maintain but I also wouldn’t say someone would need to justify their purchase of the Arrmas. If anything traxxas buyers would be the ones trying to convince themselves they made the right purchase seeing as how the Maxx is sooo overpriced just like everything else traxxas puts out. I’ve never had a traxxas make it home in working order. Mine broke every single outing. Very frustrating. Arrmas have their issues (as does any RTR) but I very rarely break something on them. I do normal maintenance and they just run man. I don’t have to worry about something breaking 15 minutes into a session after maybe a 5 ft jump
I play traffic management of control might be put in input to keep the car to go straight long enough for gather more speed and that would keep it to the point where you don't have to put in the input to slow you down it might be a good thing or without supposed to be a bad thing I don't know which one it is all we can do is figure out thank you
My concern is the slipper clutch on the outcast4s. I could never get the slipper clutch working properly on v1 4s outcast after the initial first few runs. Will I Still have the same problem on the v2 4s outcast? This is a deal breaker for me.I am currently trying to decide which one to get now. The Maxx or the Outcast 4s. Help!
Unfortunately I cannot give you my opinion as people would consider it biased either way. What I will show and have shown is video proof of what you can see what you could come across. There is a ton of more content coming up between the Traxxas Maxx and the OUTCAST V2
I pretty much drove the Maxx into the ground as well as 3s blx both good rcs and if don't do maintenance will eventually fail , arrmas are more purpose built where Maxx is more used general purposes and more convenient . That's my opinions
I've recently become an arrma fan, after nearly 20 years in the hobby. I've bought 3 arrmas in the last year, as well as a maxx v2. In all honesty, there is better value with arrma, but the maxx (and xmaxx) are different than any other RCs that I've driven. They are well-engineered and run smooth and quiet. The maxx and xmaxx bash very well and can truly take a beating. I love the chassis design and clipless bodies. The arrma trucks are very durable as well. You really can't go wrong with either. If it is outcast vs maxx v2, they are nearly equal, prices considered. If money is no object, slight preference for maxx v2. The traxxas maxx is probably the most durable rc you can buy. It needs the $100 upgraded driveshafts if you plan on bashing hard or running 6s, which I do. The traxxas metal cvds are VERY beefy and worth the $100. If I had to buy another stunt truck, I'd go for an arrma notorious 6s. Arrma has a $70 manufacturer coupon on the big rock (just bought 1 yesterday for only $270) and the notorious until Oct 2nd.
traxxas has proven time and time again that GIMICS sell Rc,s. . me and you may not care for the gimics. buy they do sell rc,s. love all your videos. wish I had a brand new rc that I never drove. thats not one of my problems 🤣😂🤑
Truggy vs Monster Truck, it's all about preference. Neither is objectively better. However, I can guarantee Traxxas wouldn't put plastic pivot balls on an over $350 rc. I doubt they'd even do it on one over $150.
@@paulclancy2404 Customers should not have to take the time to replace a bunch of small cheap parts that basically never need upgrading on other hobby grade rcs. Arrma finally got metal gears and better shocks for the 4s line, which is great. Hopefully 3s is next. The balls should have been an obvious inclusion here. It was just another dumb decision, but I guess they have to save things for the exb or next version coming out in a few years as usual.
I kept snapping control arms on my corally Kronos.. corally finally emails me back. they told me to.boil the plastics for 10 minutes. said they would flex better. but loose performance. what part about Basher do they not understand?.. I'll never race this truck..ugh. now it has rpm front control arms for a kraton. and rear exb kraton arms.. no more broken control arms. thanks Corally. I made videos on it. no one cares. I'm done making videos. leave that to you wealthy people. I'll just keep tearing up.the hood. peace ✌
I wonder if manufacturers realize how much these videos drive sales... I also wonder if they realize how far building a decent product that a) looks cool, b) drives fast and predictably, and c) resists breakage OUT OF THE F'N BOX would go to driving sales? PS. I purchased an Axial Bomber a year ago. Out of the box, it is a sad excuse for a toy - much less a "rock bouncer/racer". How many new Axial products do you think I will purchase again in future...? Hint - starts with a "z".
Blasphemy!! RTR stands for “ready to repair/replace”. You just have to know buying one that ur getting ripped off! I try to only buy kits for that reason!
@@MikeJonesRacing4420 Not true. I grabbed a Team Associated Reflex 14B buggy. It is a gem out of the box. Though, you might want to keep it on 7.4V. The ESC doesn't like 11.4V...
I don’t have the new 4s arrma yet obviously but the v2 maxx is way better than the pile of sh!t V1 , I’m gonna guess the v2 arrma is gonna be more stable .
@@rcguygarage it’s amazing how that 1 inch of additional chassis length changed the maxx , the version 1 I couldn’t land a single jump with out the endo roll over
@@greatwhitenorthrc509 yes with the 5th scale rc that 2" made a HUGE difference between the Arrma Kraton and the Outcast as well but you need to remember these are SCALE and physics applies
My 2 biggest complaints about Traxxas are the plastic driveshafts and their exclusive proprietary designs. They are like the Apple of RC cars. They make great Rc’s but they are frustrating for people who like to customize and interchange parts in their cars.
Yea unfortunately they do feel like the apple of RCs, but I think my boy German big is right… soon they’ll both be like that but I suppose it has its upsides. IT probably makes it much easier for people starting out with the hobby then you can upgrade as you please? Maybe that’s the idea behind it?
The IC5 system is way better. The fact that its backwards compatible with EC5 means you can either be in or out of the ecosystem, its up to you. You can either get the Spektrum smart tech or save some cash and just get regular LiPos with EC5s and any old charger. Plus EC5s can hold up to more current than Traxxas ID connectors.
