I use my binoculars ALL the time. Whether it be for spotting game, spotting for a fellow shooter, or finding targets on a hillside, they are an everyday tool for me. I also use a rangefinder very frequently. So what if I could consolidate these two tools into one unit? I can, and that's the subject of this video!

I’d like to see you verify the actual accuracy versus claimed accuracy at various distances. Not sure how you would do that, but you are the scientist.

Hi Gavin, Im a big fan of your content and have learned a lot from you. Keep up the good work. One suggestion that I have is to be more transparent about your relationship with the companies and products you are reviewing. Are you paying full retail for theses like the rest of us and can render and unbiased opinion? Are you getting free product and making money from website links and advertising? Or are you a paid spokesperson for the company? Not judging either way, just want to have the upfront transparencey of any potential conflict of interest.
@bigbearm8521
@bigbearm8521 3 года назад
John Turner, my point exactly. Gavin doesn't pay for nothing. He gets product sent to him and boasts about it like he had purchased it himself. If he had to purchase all products that he shows he'd be in the poor house pretty dam quick!!!!!
@SlavGuns
@SlavGuns 3 года назад
@@bigbearm8521 So as a fellow content creator and someone who has met Gavin I feel I can chime in. In the content creator space, we generally fall into a number of categories. Some creators get product on loan, so we can test it, then we can either return it, or buy it, most often at a discount, depending on manufacturer. This is great for products that I am asked to review by viewers/subscribers but I may not have interest in myself. Other products, I may be reached out to by a company to review something, or provide feedback, if it is firearms, most often it is on loan, if it is optics, generally you are sent them for keeps (exceptions VERY high end stuff). With these, I will play with it, and if it is junk, I will give option that I can give a fair review, or I just won't waste time making the videos. In either case, for EVERY video where there is a product involve, I put it in the disclosure in the first 60 seconds to outline it. Bigger creators, will often get product + a check to review something. Where it gets controversial (in my opinion) is if the check is to cover expenses (filming, travel, range fees, ammo, etc) OR it is substantial enough to be called a paycheck... and more importantly, "Does the company have right of first refusal over your content?" And THAT will determine if it is a commercial or an actual unbiased review. I don't think there is anything wrong with Gavin getting these binos, and having chatted with him, I don't in a million years believe he would promote a product he would not use himself or recommend. I also think that on the whole, content creators need to disclose their exact relationships. (which Gavin does in the video description and the website... ultimatereloader.com/about/ )

Would be great to compare to the Sig Sauer KILO3000BDX since they are about the same price range and both of these are about half the cost of the Leica or Swaro ones.
@bobbymoon7999
@bobbymoon7999 3 года назад
I know the Sig's reach over 2500 yds. My buddy puts on an ELR shoot every year in New Mexico and I help put out the targets and RO. I've used the Sigs and ranged out 2500+ yds. They also give your come ups out 700 or 800 yrds with Applied Ballistics Lite in the unit. These better be a lot less money if the dont have a ballistic solver in them

SIG is a disposable throw away rangefinder binoculars die to their limited 5 year electronics warranty from date of manufacture and NOT date of actual purchase. They tell you just keep buying brand new ones after they fail out of their short term warranty and it might not even have any warranty left if it's already been sitting in a warehouse and on a dealer's shelf already for 5 years.

I have had my Leica geovid binoculars for many years. They are the innovative company to have a laser range finder built-in to the binoculars. Even though they can range up to 1400 yards, that's fine with me because why on earth would I need to range any further? I sold my old range finder and have not looked at anything but binoculars with range finder built-in. My Leica geovid binoculars are about the same price as the ones you have on the video, but.... The Leica geovid binoculars are super clear and sharp, even better than swarovski in my opinion.

@WalterGuy
@WalterGuy 3 года назад
The Sig has a similar retail price but is advertised to range deer at 2000 yd and reflective at 5000 yd... Still would be interested in a side by side of these two though.
@commonsense5709
@commonsense5709 Год назад
SIG is a disposable throw away item due to it's limited 5 year electronics warranty that starts from date of manufacture not date of actual purchase so it's actually a lot less than 5 years and all electronics fail and SIG has no intention to repair them outside of warranty and SIG will tell you to just buy a new one after the electronics fail out of their 5 year warranty.

I'd personally go with separate binoculars and rangefinder and not want an all in one unit since all electronics will and do fail and you'll be out of both when you send it in under warranty if it actually has a lifetime warranty including their electronics not like SIG that's disposable throw away after the electronics fail with only 5 years from date of manufacture electronics warranty and NOT from date of actual purchase. I'd personally choose the $450 Maven rangefinder for it's extremely clear 7x monocular and long range readings and eye friendly self adjusting display plus a Kowa BDII XD 8x32 for it's ultra wide angle and light weight or Athlon Midas UHD 8x42 wide angle. I think a 10x binoculars is too high magnification with a very limited FOV for hunting.

Steiner's laser rangefinder binoculars are $200 more, new. Bushnell's are $800. Vortex', lol, are $1200. I'd rather buy a cheap pair and tape a rangefinder on top and spend my saved money on another gun my wife doesn't know about.

How about comparing with a Sig 3000BDX for $1199? It has bluetooth and will link up with a kestrel or smartphone. Sig claims 1500 yards for deer, and 5000 yards with reflective targets. I've ranged trees out to 3200 yards which is well beyond what sig claims. I love my athlon scopes, but I don't think this is really a competetive product at their asking price.
@wldott
@wldott 3 года назад
I have no idea why anyone would buy these when you can get the Sig 3000's for the same price and have twice the ranging distances on deer, trees and reflective targets. Plus have the BDX features of connecting and sending ranges to BDX scopes, Kestrel 5700's as well as Garmin 701's.

Great glass BUT no Bluetooth to "talk" with a Kestrel 5700 weather meter/ballistics engine or a SIG Sierra BDX rifle scope so, except for the glass, they won't function any better than my 12 year "old" Bushnell 1Mile ARC range finding binoculars which DO give me a hold-over in MILs or MOA.

Looks like a good addition to the Athlon line but I’ll take my Vortex Fury HD 5000s over these any day. Crystal clear glass, and I’ve personally used them to range 4600 yards standing. Twice the ranging distance for less money.
