Just recently within last 3 years, I have gotten very heavy into air guns. The realistic feelings, looks and weights, of handguns and rifles is amazing. I live in town, and can still go in my back yard, or basement and shoot. This, Barra, i WILL buy very soon. Its a game changer! Thank you for the very detailed review!
Hi Kevin, yes airguns can be a very addictive hobby, but so much fun. The ability to shoot at home in your own yard or basement makes it that much better. Thanks for tuning in 👍
I too just got into them. Started with a bb gun and now have 2 gamo magnum break barrels. Prob i have is selling them. Got booted from FB market place for trying to sell a pellet gun. So stupid. I plan to go PCP but dont know what i am going to do to unload my other air guns.
@@AirgunDetectives "Maybe one day they'll use that technology and apply it to a pellet version" Probably worried about lawsuits. In many states, full auto pellet guns are illegal.
Your reviews are awesome and I really enjoy your work. This gun, for me anyway, is a "must have" for my collection. I already have more airguns then I know what to do with, so 1 more wont hurt anything. I literally need a separate room in my home just for all my airguns...I'm sure most of you reading this can relate. Unfortunately I'm very weak when it comes to airguns...I always tell myself "this will be the last one for awhile" only to buy the next best thing that I see. The consistent power, the accuracy and quietness of this gun is a sure thing for me. Plus being the first "electric" gun that I know of makes it a must have. Again, thanks for your work. Your channel is definitely one of the best.
George....welcome to my world! Airgun collection is somewhere between a hobby and an addiction. That is what led me to doing these reviews. I just did an inventory the other day and I am close to the 300 mark. I have relinquish quite a few because I literally am running out of storage space. It is a fun and exciting hobby you can enjoy in your backyard. I appreciate you sharing your experience and Happy Shooting 👍
This is ground breaking technology. Would be nice to have a little more velocity. This opens the door to an M14, and BAR, SW43/44, AK47, Thompson with 100 round drum
Above 360 m/s you get a bang due to the sound barrier. 380 m/s and above , can't be silent. A silencer on a gun or rifle needs different ammo. Even a novice knows the bang, from an object going through the sound barrier.
Great review! As of 30 seconds ago I was your newest subscriber. Sold me on the 400e. Mine is on the way along with 3 extra mags, 2 batteries, and charger. I've built real AR's for less but I'm looking forward to plinking with this this for pennies instead of dollars. Your review was the deal sealer. I enjoyed your other posts on the auto bb-guns in the past and nearly went with one of those but luckily I have been patient and now after watching this I am convinced I have found what I have been searching for. Plus the "cool factor" needle for me is pegged out. You have a cool hobby that helps many of us as well. Thanks for posting.
I can also say that it truly is a remarkable machine.. Just with the iron sights it is very accurate. Only have a setup at 25 yards, trying to clear a longer field soon. Groups like you shot at that short range works farther out also just rips the bullseyes right out lol !!. Love it So impressed I have more fun with the irons and a whole lot cheaper to train with than...you know the heavier artillery. Crazy fun lines up fast, takes out the target dead nuts lol Thank you Airgun detectives for doing a very accurate description. I am in no way affiliated with Barra Just a 65 year old non combat vet. And I thank God daily for that. Thank all you veterans for your service to cover my ass so I can live free..... for now That is why i feel it is important to stay tuned up The Barra 400 E is your ticket Cheers all *******
Hi JC , what a fun BB gun. It looks very well built and good looking too. five stars prove it. Barra has a very interesting line of air guns. Great review. Have a good weekend. Cheers
Ok , I am impressed! Had one jam on first auto session and quickly unjammed it . I did another 150 rounds in auto without a jam . Open sites at 15 yards, it ate up the bullseye.
Another good use for my RC Crawler batteries. Got a great charger already. I'm currently getting BB pistols and rifles for a little change from pellet stuff. I want some smooth bores since I started out with those. This looks like an air gun I may very likely own soon. Great review!
Great review JC! That would be a fun gun! It is a bit pricy, but the quality looks real good. More metal than plastic. I also like the electric power. No drop in velocity! And you can recharge the battery packs hundreds of times.
The price would level out in time because you wouldn't need to purchase Co2's. You are also getting an extremely well made all metal gun. Thanks for watching 👍
I just purchased one of these through Amazon. Shot it the same day I received it. I swear I did not want to put it down. Talk about sweet and accuracy. Got a red dot coming in the mail tomorrow. Once that is set I’ll be ready to go to town sort of speak and let those BB’s fly. The only pain is having to reload. Ordering an extra mag and reloader because I can see the reloader eventually breaking since it is all plastic with plastic gears. It’s just like the rest of them that I use so they don’t last forever. Anyway, great video. Enjoy the fun. I know I am.
The red star paper is exactly what this reminds me of as well. Have you ever noticed how each following year they gave you fewer and fewer bbs to work with? Now you're lucky if you get 20 rounds to work with.
The Barra 400E is a very cool BB rifle, I would like to try one. I'm pretty sure I would like it. Thanks for the great review, you did an awesome job. Be safe, but have fun.
Amazing. I'm not in to BB guns, but I want one of these. I don't want to discuss how much I spend on CO2 cartridges lol. I have an indoor range with resetting targets. I shoot A LOT. Thanks JC!
@@AirgunDetectives I have just sent them an email off the back of your review to see if I can get one to pilot test for a review to use on a course that is running for the BSR (British Stunt Register) on weapons safety and handling on set. 👍🏻
Been seeing the same tech in air soft for a while, been waiting on the same tech in bb or pellet for awhile. Don't know why it took em so long, but glad it finally did!
Another excellent review. I too have crosman DPMS and the baikal drozd full auto BBs. Accuracy and power fluctuates especially with CO2. The drozd I have options HPA or CO2. Even with my PCP, fun of shooting stops when you ran out of air. This gun is accurate enough with no fluctuations on power speed and accuracy. It's perfect because most of the times I just wanted to shoot shoot shoot. Just carry extra battery.
@@AirgunDetectives Wouldn’t they need a belt fed system for pellets sorta like what sig does with the MCX & Pellet pistol replicas? That would be sick! 🙂
I swear when you were on Full Auto shooting out the red bull's-eye, I literally thought about that game at the carnival shooting out the red star. And then you mention it
I shot those full auto mg’s bb gun in Circus Circus Las Vegas as a kid. Same, had to shoot till all the red star on the paper target was completely gone.
Excellent video, now tear that sucker apart for a breakdown video!!! The awesome thing about these electric guns is that they are far easier to mod, from changing out the battery to the motor, i'm curious to see how far these things will be pushed in the near future.
I think this may have opened the door for a new power source in airguns. Now i want to see pellet versions and higher velocities. Thanks for tuning in! 👍
I’ve got mine all decked out with a tactical scope, mounted a laser sight on the scope, a tactical light with trigger finger switch and a bipod! Official weight 11.5 pounds with battery and full mag . I can’t wait to blast some bottles , clay targets and whatever else I can destroy from the house . LoL
This is the best review of this rifle that I've seen so far! You did a great job of covering all of the technical and practical aspects of this gun. Ever since I got my first 6mm Airsoft AEG years ago (a Tokyo Marui MP5), I was hoping someone would come out with a .177 caliber steel BB AEG (Automatic Electric Gun). Now it is finally here! I have several CO2 full auto BB guns, but as you mentioned, the cooling of the CO2 cartridges and drop in velocity takes much of the fun out of shooting them. I'll have to get one of these ASAP! I'm sure other manufacturers will be jumping on the bandwagon and developing they're own versions of a .177 AEG in the near future (if they haven't started already).
Your are like the Hickok 45 of the air gun world. Absolutely love your vids, and this gun is incredible. At first I was skeptical about a battery powered bb rifle but then I thought about it, we have been using them in air soft for so long how on earth have they just now thought of putting them in BB rifles??? My only downside is that it won’t be able to fit in the pellet pistols! Amazing concept. Sucks that we’re using more lithium for our hobby’s but if you take care of the batteries then it should last a long time. Awesome work
You used zinc bb’s ! Barra site recommends all steel bb’s . Looks like the zincs gave good performance. At least I know I can shoot them through this sweet airgun.
Great review on a fantastic air gun. Love the battery powered technology. The only drawback is reloading those BB’s. I always have mixed results with those plunger style speed-loaders. I’d pay a premium for the convenience of a preloaded mag with 1000 or 2500 BB’s if they could figure out some reliable method of factory pre-loading something like that …
There are lots of effective ways to achieve this. The engineers stated that it was their initial plan but they had problems delivering on time so we're stock with that *for the moment.* It is #1 on their priority list to make a better one since there are so many people already complaining about the exact same thing. Cool thing I learned so far is that this bad boy is almost totally modable with airsoft parts (longer/shorter barrel, more powerfull motor, battery voltage, piston, spring, etc) are all parts commonly found in the airsoft community. But they also stated that the best power vs accuracy is already at it's full potential as it is. As for the AR platform, some of the real AR accessories will fit just right (im thinking about clipping 2 mags together, gun skins, etc...). They're also planning a surprise whitch they won't talk much about but everyone is suspecting it will be a full auto that shoots pellet. Anyway, just wait a couple of months or a year and you will see youtube flooded by videos of mods done to this baby. 👍
I think this may open up some eyes in the with the airgun manufacturers. This may just be the beginning. I would pellet versions and greater velocity in the future. Thanks for tuning in!
Yes I think the future of electric combined with a pellet version rifled barrel will increase velocity firstly because the pellets will be a tighter fit and because of the shape it already should push the fps up closer to the 500 fps mark. Well that's my thinking 🤔 also increased power would help but not sure if thats a possibility ?
I must be the ONLY guy in the world with a terrible experience with the speed loader because no one gives this gun ANYTHING but a great review. The speed loader jams constantly. The absurd path that the bbs have to travel jams every time and all the time. The few bbs that get to the exit tube jam at the exit hole and become completely unable to be installed in the magazine. What the hell is going on?$500+ buck and I want some quality.
Maybe in time the price will come down a bit. I know they were a bit pricey to manufacturer. Everything is so inflated right now 🤨 Thank you for watching 👍
Ovonics makes excellent packs by the way, go for the high C packs so the voltage don't drop off under load dropping your power under full auto as the voltage sags. Get you a 70 to 100c pack (c is your discharge rate the pack can handle, for example a 100c 2200mah pack is rated for 220 amps and of course you will have voltage sag at say 20 amps BUT a 100c pack will have far less voltage sag than a 25c pack) high C rated packs are much higher quality packs as well, the low C crappy packs are not very good packs over all the 75+ C packs are much higher quality packs.
Mine is well on its way to be delivered Wed, June 22. Already have the 6,000 count BB's, B3 charger and battery pack rated 35c @ 2200 mAh, direct from Amazon Prime. Quick question: you mentioned purchasing battery packs rated "70 to 100c". Having done my research before making decision to purchase 400e, it is recommended by manufacturer to use packs 25-35c otherwise you could possibly risk damaging gearbox and motor. Have you used 70-100c with no issues or just assuming the higher the rating the better, which obviously on paper and performance-wise I would agree it would outperform max 25-35c easily, but can the operating system handle that discharg rate?
I was wondering this very thing, thank you for commenting on it. I think I will stick with 35c to be safe. Given they specifically state 25-35c there is probably a reason for that.
So far I installed three long m-lok pic rails on my 400E along with a 4x32 eliminated CV Life scope and a tactical light . I’ll install a laser sight on the side of the scope next , yes this tactical scope has two short pic rails on it . A bipod will also be added. This will be one bad- - - BB gun for sure . I even have a two gun tactical carry case for this style rifle . My issue now is finding someone who has extra mags available in stock and an extra speed loader .
Great video and awesome gun ! The technology from air soft seems like a natural progression for bb air guns and as you stated and demonstrated it works flawlessly. The shooters of today are going to love this hassle Free platform and that should provide countless hours of bb action. Very interesting it would definately be worthwhile getting one for the collection. What gun is it based on ? Thanks for your great content and God bless you too.
It's good idea but it has some co2 disadvantages. In low temperatures battery wouldn't be so efficient. I would prefer some heating system for co2 gas.
This is cool, but I like the little kick the C02 makes. I feel like you'd miss out with that more realistic feel. However this is super cool if you just wanna hit some targets. Not having to refill would be nice.
Wow now that’s a BB gun I would like . Where is the link to Barra E400 ?Thanks JC . I won a gun at fair doing that shooting the red star out. My sister would not sign for me I was not of age
😆🤣 Peter..the first time I saw those machine guns at the fair, my dad did the shooting and I remember him arguing with the guy the red was all shot out. I did however, walk away with a stuffed animal at the end of the conversation. I will add a link for Barra. Happy Shooting 👍
Another great review. The 400e may be a winner. I just got into air guns. Just have an Umarex Peacemaker. Looking at the combat master JW3 pistol, and a black gun rifle. I was thinking an AR or M4 platform. The performance on this is great, just what I was looking for.
Hello just found your channel love it I've been shooting since I was 6 I'm 46 now just got my 10yr son into shooting with air guns just to teach him safety first and to learn his was around the weapon. But on this Barra 400e your right on the cost part, I just bought me a DPMS SBR AR15 love this rifle but Co2 is a little costly but it keep up into the air rifle tradition hunting with an air guns is just fun but what happens if you're out in the woods and on that Barra 400e gets wet and it'd possible your battery could explode, and what if your battery over heats, and camping there's no way to charge a battery it looks like a really cool weapon looks fun but for me I'll just stick to traditional air guns. Love you content keep it up thanks..
Just did some quick math to get the equivalent of 200,000 shots off a single 3S battery you need to spend $2000 worth of CO2 cartridges. So buying the battery and charger for $50 more is a steal.
Thank you for the GREAT review! I worry about the long-term RELIABILITY. What is the weakest link of the rifle? I've had CO2's that lose their seals in a week. Is there a LAW that air rifles are not allowed to shoot OVER 400fps?
Maybe I missed it, but do they have a price point on these yet? I've been waiting to see this one since your video at the shot show. Very cool and looks like a ton of fun but I can't seem to come up with a solid reason to own something like this. I wish I had one of these when I was a kid and you could still walk the railroad tracks plinking without somebody freaking out.
Tyler...The reason to own one is simply...they are fun! Something for the whole family. To experience a full-auto in your own backyard is really enjoyable. There are wants and needs in this world, this is a want, because you only live once. Life is short.."play hard!" Ok..there is a reason😉 $400 MSRP. But you will save $100's in not having to purchase Co2s. Thanks for tuning in 👍
@@AirgunDetectives hell not only will you save hundreds you'll save many thousands over a full auto M16 itself not to mention the 5.56 ammo that you'd be wasting thousands on alone not including the rifle. Hahaha big comparison and damn near just as much fun. It's got my 2 thumbs up and oh yeah I do remember those fair games and shooting out the red star with those specifically bent barrels in those guns at the fair hahaha. I had to play that game numerous times every year at the local fair and always looked forward to it and now I can recreate the game at home for me and my boy and have fun little competitions anytime we want in our own back yard so In my opinion how could you go wrong. Hell now I sound like a shill for the company or something haha. I'm surely not but I also surely wouldn't complain if they wanna send me and my 14yr old boy one for free I would be absolutely more than happy to shill for them as much as possible and spread the good word. Hahaha, ah well wishful thinking. Day dreaming a bit again I guess but hey ya never know, it never hurts to try.😁
Very aware of the limitations of C02 powered guns and time my full-auto with controlled bursts, helps to ensure slide / barrel assy, / bolt locks rear when magazine empty. Electric powered BB rifle without the limitations of C02 powered guns is a wonderful thing. M9A3 works excellently with 2 full magazines while shooting controlled bursts. Imagine being able to shoot the blowback UMEREX replicas without changing C02..That would be nice. Meanwhile, (before I purchase this rifle) the slide assembly on the Berreta M9A3 and the barrel assy on the Luger P08 MUST lock open on the last shot for the proper entertainment. So, proper timing with C02 cartridges is essential.
