As a black man, I appreciate you so much. Thanks for motivating (black) women to see their own value. Whatever choice you make you will own it. I moved to 4 countries in 4 years because of work and I just find a way to make it work by accepting the journey. More power to you.

Tia I just graduated from high school 2 weeks ago at age 17 at America's most beautiful venues here in Colorado,Red Rocks Amphitheatre. I have just been feeling a mix of excitement and sadness due to everything that has happened. The future I hope is looking bright. I am not going to go to college with any debt. I am going to study computer science so I can get a good job out a college and start saving for a home. It will give me the ability to work anywhere remotely in the U.S with a high salary. I am scared since I have never been in a relationship before with anyone. I could have been in relationships but decided against it to avoid drama. Tia your success despite all the discrimination you have faced brings tears to my eyes. You are a role model to me even though we have never met. Your content is of excellence compared to all the other fake youtubers. I can see that you care about us. I am so grateful I found this channel. ♥️♥️♥️

I’m surprised sometimes by the openness some Italians express to each other about different regions. For example, I had a friend from Naples make disparaging remark about another guy behind his back because he was from Salerno, like a provincial town, even though the guy did nothing wrong. I’m not sure though if it was just an Italian “in” joke and not to be taken too seriously, but it seemed kind of prejudiced, like a kind of snobbery. Like he looked down on everything about him. This was among an Italians I met in Paris in a student context.

Just for future reference, it’s not comforting when southern Italians compare the prejudice they experience from other Italians (which is even less now that italians collectively have immigrants to scapegoat) to the systematic racism black people in the west have gone through forever. You were discriminated due to your perceived proximity to blackness-now imagine actually being black 🙃 You all are here talking about name calling meanwhile I was literally attacked in the street 👁👄👁 it’s insensitive and doesn’t win you points.

A quei tempi probabilmente era pure peggio di adesso, io e i miei amici neri ne abbiamo subiti di insulti razzisti e aggressioni razziste negli anni 90 e 00. 7:00 Well said Tia. More and more people are getting offended by anything, and I know that someone will think "Usually, people who say that the world is becoming too sensitive/politically correct are assholes", and perhaps I am, but here is the thing: someone will always get offended. I've just experienced it myself: my former classmate totally assumed something about me without ever asking for my version, and straight up labeled me as toxic and "bad". But he just assumed I did a "bad" thing and decided to avoid me for this reason, I only found out months later. Spoiler alert: I didn't do anything, in fact, I barely even acknowledged his existence. See? You can be chilling and minding your own business and someone else will start a drama about you, and you don't even know it! Lol People need to accept the reality that sometimes _intention matters_ It's not always about what you say and how you say it, but the intention behind your statements. We all need to remind ourselves that we are *not* perfect, and therefore we should stop pointing our finger against anyone who triggers us on the Internet.

I live in Milan🙂 the most liberal city in Italy next to maybe Bologna-I pass the holidays in Marche and worked for a year in Rome. I’ve been to every major city on the peninsula multiple times except for Naples, and I did this all while being a black woman my whole life: I know exactly what I’m talking about.
@filipporubino4163
@filipporubino4163 3 года назад
@@misstiataylor_ ok but you should know, and I bet you do, than Lombardia is overall much more racist than the rest of Italy. And Milan, although being more liberal, is still in Lombardia. Since you've lived in other areas like the super left-winged Bologna, why generalizing? knowing how Lombardia is historically leghista (for the most part). I simply refuse to be put in the same cathegory, as a whole country, with the motherland of Lega.
@filipporubino4163
@filipporubino4163 3 года назад
You can trust me like a brother if I tell you (and I'm a teacher of Italian language and culture) that Italian "racism" is not to be compared with the american one. It's of a different sort, not to be' taken too personal. Cause Italians, especially northerners, will always have something against outsiders. Believe me, I was discriminated in the north because I'm son of Sicilians, while being discriminated in Sicily as "northerner". And I was extremely discriminated in Rome simply because I wasn't roman.
@misstiataylor_
@misstiataylor_ 3 года назад
Thank you, white, Italian man, for telling me what racism in Italy is like for me, a black, foreign woman (you do realize how ridiculous it is?). I'm not generalizing, and I'm not comparing anything. I am talking about my life and experiences THROUGHOUT your country over almost a decade. I'm saying as a black person you will face racist incidents where ever, based on my personal experience, and comments such as yours are in no way productive nor do they make sense. Just because I don't identify or agree with the USA indiscriminately bombing countries they deem need to be bombed, doesn't change the reality, which is that it happens. How about you stop comparing your experience as a southerner to the experience of black people because it's not the same... you're aware that racist incidents happen in the south right? you're aware that even your own Sicily literally votes centro destra and lega, right? When I wnt to Catania the only Black women I saw were prostitutes being pimped out in broad daylight... is it supposed to be a welcoming scene? How does that reality impact the actual perception of Black women in the area and what do the natives do about it? I have plenty of black friends born and raised in Veneto that will say that is the most racist region in Italy meanwhile I've never felt more uncomfortable in my life than I felt in a certain city in Puglia. I wasn't let onto a train due to my skin color in Rome and I was almost physically attacked in Milan.. but I shouldn't take it personally... you expect me to raise black children here. You're saying nonsense. Vote better and fix your country rather than try to gaslight me and other people of color, just to make yourself feel better apparently. Like I said in the video, it's not that these things happen that make me realize that my days in Italy are actually numbered-- no, it is actually comments like yours that make me feel this way. The white moderate who think they're 'helping' you and the situation when actually they don't even listen. The people that refuse to confront reality and refuse to take the LIVED EXPERIENCES of people of color into account.

I think you people are very young so probably you don't know about it but it's wrong to say that Italy became a s...hole or that there is more rage or more racism because such kind of racial agressions and racist incidents always happened in this country. I'm not black but I had black friends who have been racially assaulted and racially abused more then once back in the 90s and in the 00s here in Italy, and we're talking about 20, 30 years ago. If I have to be honest back to those days there was more racism than today, it's surely hard to be black in Italy today, no doubt about it, but probably it was even harder in those days.

Probably as you said these people are very young so they don't know.
