I'm a Half-Jamaican, Half-Nigerian, American-born girl living in Milan, Italy. I studied economics and make youtube videos. My videos are usually in English with Italian subtitles.
Thanks so much for the advice regarding only having an online bank account instead of a traditional one. I hope to purchase a property at some point with a mortgage and it’s good to know let a lone the other bureaucracy around it all and being a foreigner. So useful.

You are complaining that there are too many old people around you, and that they are white? Wow! This is Italy, if I remember it has been white since Rome was built, not sure what you expected when you arrived… And your nerves in pointing with disgust to old people all around you! Do you even hear yourself and the ageism?!? You are pointing at older people as if this was a defect, an obsolete state of being, but I am not shocked, ageism is big in the USA which is where you are from right? You obviously feel that old is bad, and from your description of old Italian people being everywhere as if this was worse then the plague, It makes no sense that your video is such a paradox. You highlight the prejudice towards women and those who look different while you point at “OLD people everywhere”. You clearly pick the prejudice that is convenient to you. And in regard to the femminicidio, violence in Italy against women, I live in the USA and can tell you that it happens here as well, however the media outlets don’t report it because people don’t care to hear it, never on CNN or MSNBC you would hear of this kind of crime unless the case is extraordinarily interesting. You should talk about the fact that Italy is human enough to bring these cases and the problem to light, can’t say the same about the American news outlets. Also, and I am sure you know this very well, in the USA there is no maternity leave NADA, only up to the employer and not a federal law, the number of days is ZERO! Not sure why your goal is to put Italy in a bad light unfairly. It seems your bitterness is deeply rooted in something that runs deeper than the topics you highlight.
I have to admit, I have never had an issue with Asian woman, but being an American black woman I do see them having a better personal life then 80 % of black woman, I would not care if there is few Asian woman in Italy. Good! more Italo D for the black woman. their beauty in the world seems to be valued at a higher cap, even more then some American Models and African Models, so I don't hate Asian woman but I'm not taking up for them in any sort of way either.
But madonna is used for exclamation, an emotion where you’re sooo sooo surprised (could be good or bad reaction) for example if someone told you that their cat got hit by a truck…you can be soo sad and the news might come as such a surprise that you’ll be like “madonna mia” 😫😯 …or I’ve heard people use it also positively like… they see someone’s kid after 10 years and they say something like “madonna ! Ma sei cosi grande…madonna …sei cresciuta cosi tanto! “
Very insightful and interesting take on this topic. I've been researching this topic all through youtube in hopes of getting a clearer understanding by other's firsthand experiences in Italy. Ive been considering visiting there one day, but im trying to do my due diligence and get some different perspectives. This take on race relations there is very interesting and helps me tremendously
THAT IS A LIE BC FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD FROM BLACK AMERICANS NOT BLAXK AFRICANS - IT THAT RACISM IS TARGETED AGAINST AFRICAN AMERICANS THE SAME AS ANY BLACK AFRICAN
Ma cosa dici Tia, parli italiano meglio della maggioranza degli italiani. Hai una proprietà lessicale molto alta quindi continua anche perché la maggior parte dei tuoi follower non parlano inglese
I really enjoyed watching this video. You are right. So often we are taught what to think, and not how to think. I like your spirit of change, adventure of moving to a foreign country and your work ethic. You are an inspiration.
That's true. Remember that Italy is a "young unified nation" unlike the US and the UK. Italy is afraid of change. But, it's interesting how the Italian football teams have many foreign players 😮
I remember when I was facing Italian's racism and I came across one of your videos in the year 2018 that encouraged Italians like you were saying Italians weren't racist. Therefore, I had to challenged you. However, you said you were gonna snitch on me which you ultimately did. In result, I got inflicted with a chronical sickness by Italians. I just wanna tell you I've been in a hospital since april 24, 2018 and I just came out october 2, 2023. I promise I won't talk about racism anymore. Nevertheless, I wish Italians could change the way they live, the way they panic black people etc....
Coming from Africa, where Oyibo is supposed to be rich. The amount of begging and pickpocketing in Italy is worst. It was a big culture shock for me. The fact that they do it cooperatively and get angry when you don't give them is annoying.
Tia this is my life right now...... Going through your old videos. Indeed when you find yourself in a new environment; Find a job or create a business that will solve problems or offer what you have that the environment needs.
I lived in Rome for 5 months before moving to northern Italy and now settling in central Italy, Bologna. I totally agree with you. Rome is. beautiful, but for me it is a place for tourism except you want to live in the countryside of Rome.
I was so shocked upon arriving in Italy and seeing the number of Asians in Italy. I enjoyed this video. Watching again as if I am seeing it for the first time.
My Eyes were hungrily staring at the EGWUSI SOUP AND EWEDU, 😋I miss Nija. Finally, Enrico has become a Nigerian Man. We need to get a Yoruba name for him; suggesting "ENIOLA !
watching again, for the second time, because I forgot to drop my comments the first time I watched it. "Hi Tia, next time please I will want to see more dancing steps of Encrico.
Anzi!
White people living in Nigeria are they treated the same as you in Italy? would you call it racism? Do they have white people in Nigerian government No ? Is that racism ? In general do some people in Nigeria say some rude things about white people ? Is that racism?
14:31 well... because whatever that is 14:18 , we both know its not Italian and definitely not beautiful to Italians. Italy is one of the few most rational and grounded countries left in Europe, unlike England and Sweden that went off the deep end into a sh*t pit. Once people of your ethnicity turn England into Nigeria they will all be running from it and begging Italy , Romania , Russia and maybe France to accept you. Is that what you want?
I know you haven't had kids in Italy, but I'd love if you did one of these on general women's health/giving birth in Italy vs the US. I know epidurals can be really hard to get in Italy and there are a lot of serious differences in how women's health is treated in the US vs Italy.
With social media, Italy has become a country of fatphobic people where anorexia has become the new skinny. I am fatter than you and you have no idea how much it hurts. To me you are totally fine.
