Many congrats, Rikki! Fantastic bikes. I had the '97 model, the one that looked a bit like the NR750. Utterly superb machine. One of the best bikes I've ever owned. It was the last of the 750s before they went to 800cc and it had carbs. Wonderful bikes. Period. Hope yours gives you the amazing satisfaction of ownership as mine did.
You got in a very good condition for so little money. I would keep it. I rode the 800Fi and it felt a proper machine. I enjoyed it. Keep going Rikky. I am glad that you are back with a new machine. :)
Amazing bike and in great condition for its age, looking forward to see how you get on with it. Dreamed of owning one as a teenager and had a late model FV (‘97) over 20 years ago, one of the best bikes I’ve ridden and shouldn’t have sold it. 😢
Hopefully you will find yourself in a position where you can get another one - the good thing is that they are so well built they'll always be one around to pick up 🙂
Hi Rikky! I met you at Abergavenny Bus Station a couple months ago (I was riding a Honda Varadero), it’s awesome to see a video of yours pop up on my feed every time you upload :)
Excelllent purchase.. I think these type of bikes will only go up in value. I’m a big vfr fan. I’ve had 3 800’s and a 97 model 750. Personally find the riding position perfect compromise between sporty one comfort but, I’m probably a bit taller. Looking forward to more vids on this one.
I loved the performance, build quality and sound of this bike back in the day! Handling is - acceptable - for the 21st century! But improvements can be made. Can't wait to start riding it :)
@@RikkyTang How are things with the rough running. I can only repeat my advice to remove the fuel pump. Never had any problems since, not even when running on empty.
Dude, what a bike! VFRs are legendary and you are no stranger to a vintage bike. Wishing you a lot of problem free laid back kilometres! What about your past stance towards going slower and seeing more? Won't this go against that? :D
This bike is going to challenge my slower riding approach for sure! But I was always going to get a bigger bike again one way or the other, and I knew I wouldn't be riding more calmly all the time 😁I still have the KTM for more relaxed riding though!
Great choice Rikky. The only real downside as far as I am concerned is its weight. No match for the Bros in that respect. Everything else should hoever provide more of Honda’s best. One thing though. Do not overestimate the condition of the rest of the exhaust. They mainly rust from the inside out and can look very nice until suddenly, one day… The inside of that damper might therefore be indicative of the condition of the rest. On the other hand: As long as enough material is still left in place proper welding remains an option. It might even be possible to save that damaged damper for a few tenners. 😄
Yes it it's not a lightweight but with the wider handlebars it'll still be fun to throw around :) I do plan to fit a replacement exhaust at some point, I feel like I have to let this bike sing a little!
Well done Rikki, gear driven cams, and not chocolate ones which plagued the original V4F, which an old mate of mine lamented on his. I think his had a rattly camchain too.
It does obviously feel heavier and "steadier" than the Bros, but the Honda build quality & character just shines through ❤ They sound great with the right exhaust too 😁 Maybe you should see if there are any for sale in your area!
@@RikkyTang No, I shouldn’t! The shed is already too full so I avoid trying out other bikes. The last bike I rode that I don’t own myself was a modded Yamaha GTS 1000. The one with the hub center steering. In spite of its high weight and overabundance of power I was still very much tempted. The world is full of such temptations. In the mean time my Hawk / Bros special is about to hit the streets again and that one is so very close to my ideal that buying yet another ICE bike would be sheer decadence. Working on my own electric motorcycle design though. 😄
Wow I wouldn't have guessed that in a million Rikky "a classic" superb and what an interesting ride it's gonna be I bought a basket case Honda 3 yrs ago and it's been in bits ever since 😉 so you've done well I reckon.Oh I have to ask about your turning wheel on your drive to spin the bike around do tell how you've done that ? as I am moving next month to a new place with a flat driveway and would like something like that to spin my bike in order to reverse it into the garage .👌👍
Hi Mal, I know how easy it is for project to stall, I hope you are able to get on with it soon! The turntable is not a permanent fixture, it hangs up in the shed until I need it... here's a video I made on it back in the day 😁😁 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sI568DXBycE.htmlsi=C21fos3HzOC2nsvr
