Funny. When the M5 was normally aspirated everybody pointed out how turbocharged cars were going to be far superior, when the M5 got turbocharged it instantly got disliked for the sounds. Now the M5's 0-60 number plates were lagging behind the competition given the lack of an all-wheel drive system and everybody is ovating the E63's drag racing abilities. Now that the M5 has it people claim it doesn't have character any longer. go figure...
BMW M sport boss declared that there would never be a turbo M car, when the original RS4 was launched. Also BMW declared that 4wd is not for sports cars. They look a bit silly now. I like the M5, but then I like awd and turbo.
To me, the M5 is a lot more visually attractive than the E63, which looks like a tank. Also imo the M5 sounds better, and it will especially sound better with an aftermarket exhaust. The E63 sounds like it revs to 1000 rpm and farts way too much. Mercedes never should have gotten rid of the 6.2
BMW has finally jumped on the AWD wagon, kills the competition with an 11.1 1/4 pass and the fastest 0-60 in it's class, and everyone still has a bone to pick with BMW.. seems like they're doing something right that everyone else isn't 🤣😂
The car is truly monster. the acceleration figure of this car beat Porsche (911 GT3 RS, 991.1), McLaren (570S) & Pagani (Zonda Cinque). 0 to 60mph only 3.1 seconds. faster than any other supercar.
First off anyone complaining about the interior has never been a g30 5series so stfu quality materials with a nice open design thats not distracting. Secondly the complaint about the sound?? Again listen to one in person or listen to the white one on youtube or even the blue one from the autoshow. In my opinion that exhuast note has way more character. And of course we all know this will beat the amg when it comes for the performancing testing ;)
Come on Mercedes and Audi fans. No need for anger just because M5 is at top again. M-cars belong there as class leaders. It's a fact known by the whole world. Except for a few angry fans of other brands.
Fast Er I think you're the one who's angry. M5 is not on top. Both cars are equally matched. So the ultimate deciding factor comes down to personal preference. Mercedes are also known to be class leaders. Bmw used to be leader in this segment but lately the tables have turned and now Mercedes and BMW really are neck in neck with these different classes of cars. Keep that bmw fanboy biased "fact" to yourself. So you're clearly the one thats angry.
I remember my first ride in a BMW. It was laser-guided, both in the city at low speed and on the twisties, where sane drivers live most. My neighbour (who owns a wellness shop) runs circles around the hood in his obnoxious E63 AMG. I don't know whether to hug him or strangle him. Mercs are successful as 1/2 German 1/2 American muscle car - Loud, fast, well made, lux but arrogant. If you're interested in most of those, but with more precision and subtlety, then it's the M5. Best all-in-one daily driver in my opinion - and for the first time (in Canada), available all season. Can't wait!
thing is, the bmw is trying to be the mercs of the past(high power, luxurious ride) while mercs are trying to be the bmw's of the past(sharp handling,harsh ride)..they r switching roles now
You filmed the video in 21:9, I love it cause I have a 21:9 screen but still you uploaded it as a 16:9 with black bars? Why? You should upload as 21:9, it will automatically create the black bars for 16:9 users. Just a little feedback here.
Funny reading these comments! Looks are in the eye of the beholder, you either like it or you dont! Merc fans saying the E63s is better (technically the comparison should be with E63 not the 's'). Also, why is it better? Becuase it might be slightly faster in a straight line. I'd be interested to see a proper test by someone respectable between the two (im sure this will come soon enough!) Sound wise... the age of the person buying this car new is probably 40+ (maybe even older), if I could afford this I'd want the sound to be a little understated so that I can drive it without everyone hearing me coming from 10 miles away! Also, the comp pack will address a few of these (lets call them 'fixable issues') for the more hardcore fans! Generally i think BMW have done a great job! However, I have obviously not driven one but as with all bimmers of late the steering isn't what is used to be (which is a real shame). The e39 still hold the crown in my mind!
Editor of this video, please upload it as a real 21:9 instead of a 16:9 It produces black bars all around on 21:9 screens. Having to use a chrome plugin to counter that effect! Nevertheless Great Content!

Tuddec that's such a stupid way to look at it. The M5 and E63s are seen as neck and neck competitors, they both cost around the same. Think of the normal E63 as a lesser, cut price version of the car.
greatest M5 was E39 n E60 came close to high rev V10, new M5 F90 isn't for old M fan like me n former M5 E60 n F10 owner. Merc E63 S true successor to M5 E39
Bmw started to get sick after the e46 and the e39 and died after the e60 and the e90 rip BMW your last 2 ultimate driving machines were the E39 and the E46
BMW's no longer have feel and personality. I think the E63 is gonna be alot more fun and engaging while still having the same performance. Can't wait for the comparison tho.
I agree 100% the bmw is undoubtably amazing but when it comes to the overall characters of the 2 I think the E63s ticks a lot more of the “right” boxes this time around even if the bmw ends up being faster around tracks when I’m the hands of professional drivers, E63 is a Beast but the bmw fanatics will make like it doesn’t exist😂
Why would you feel the E63 is better. This is faster and more agile while also being more comfortable and looks better. More in depth reviews by people who know what they're talking about will soon be released.
In every way? I am sorry, I would respect your opinion if you said the car appeals to you much more, but "better in every way"? How come? They are almost the exact same car, just a different look, and the Bimmer is a tad quicker and every reviewer up until now has said that the 5 Series uses vastly superior material in the interior, while also having the better infotainment system, and much higher and crisper resolution on the displays. Would buy it any day over the E63s, I just like the look and the posh interior more, though I don't think it's better in every way than the E63s, saying something like that is ludicrous.
BMW have fallen into the trap of trying to do AMG. Let AMG do AMG, do BMW. They have gone away from everything BMW stood for and are trying to play the game on someone else's terms.
Yea....looks like an Accord. Or wait...nonono, maybe the Accord looks like a 5 series? Since 5 series kept the design language since it came out a couple of decades ago.
Not playing catch up, their focus is on dynamics and performance. They are the leaders in this category and have been since the M5 created the genre in 1985.
Patrick Weir Obviously you haven't seen HUD, gesture control or the Z4, X7, 8 Series Concepts. BMW introduced iDrive to the industry 2 decades ago, still leading. Mercedes dashes are video games.
BMW simply cannot or does not make communicative steering anymore; they've lost their way in that respect. If you want engaging steering you have to go to Porsche or Cadillac.
All cars with electric steering will have no feel and thats the way its been since they including BMW have been using it. The Journo's have this placebo effect they are working through at the moment. It is physically impossible to have "feel" from a system that isn't a mechanical one.
