I had to replace my original 12v battery with a 54A instead of the 40A, I installed a Varta Silver doped one. It is slightly longer but the clamping mechanism will allow to install it as you have a second hole for a bigger one. They do this for very cold climate markets. It is convenient and will avoid your 12v battery dying prematurely like with the 40A original one. I replaced all lightbulbs 💡 with led to spare energy and improve visibility.

I got my e-up a couple of months ago, I love it, but there was a software glitch making the charge rate 1/2 what it's supposed to be. The fix is to get the we connect app, turn the charge rate all the way down, synchronise that with the car, then turn it back up to max and sync again.

Hi Daniel, We have an 08/22 EUp with 1/2 charge rate at Tesco Pod point 7.5Kw chargers ( the only ones we use unless going on a long trip). The only way to get the full rate was to set a Departure Time that was only an hour ahead of the actual time, but this had to be done for each day we charged. We tried your suggestion of minimising, then maximising the charge rate (at home where of course the connection is much faster!) then drove to Tesco, but the charge rate was still only 3.5Kw. Did you have to min/max the charge rate in specific conditions? i.e. with the car connected to the charger, or with a new Location on the App, or is there a global charge rate setting hidden somewhere? Would love to get this solved as it is a PIA as we charge 3 to 4 times a week. Thanks for your help Dave

@@davidwellington4186 I've never used departure times or locations. I found the charge rate in the vehicle settings accessed through the cog symbol in the top right of the app.

According to the instructions, the power cable must be fully extended when the charger is working! (time from 2:21 to 2:27) The power of the electric current is high and there is a danger of additional heating of the cable when several windings on it are in close contact. Physics my dear Watson ;)

If you want to have fun, drive with winter tires all year long 🛞 to have the maximum grip to handle the 210 nM torque. With summer tires, the front wheels just slip immediately if you press the accelerator hard. With the softer rubber of winter tires, you will feel like catapulted from the deck of a plane carrier 😂 Bonus, you don’t need a second set of wheels, just replace the front tires every 2 years

I really love Up’s, my sister has a petrol ClubUp! and it’s a magnificent little car with so much character. I’m glad that electrifying it doesn’t seem to have removed any of the charm. Not sure if anyone has already mentioned this but you can get rid of the annoying 22 degrees setting using the OBD11. There are some Utube videos on it. You can set it to remember the last setting which is far more sensible. You can also set the default for the lane assist to off rather than on which is useful as it is a pain around town, and let's face it this car is for town use! You also need to use it to increase the maximum charge rate which annoyingly defaults to 3KW. Change it 7KW. I did find that you have to pay the subscription to the OBD11 to use the advance features you need to make these changes. Our car by the way is the Seat Mii Electric which is almost identical to yours. Hope you find this useful.

Being here in the States across the pond, 160 miles range would drive most people crazy. The distances here are soo much greater than in Europe or the UK. For city and commuting this would be wonderful. Taking it a distance though would be a challenge. The bigger issue here for most in the city is being in an apartment. Most places either don't have parking or if they do they don't have any way to charge. Still though I figure many would take this if the price was right. Great video keep it up.
@Brian-om2hh
@Brian-om2hh 2 года назад
Yep, we play in a smaller place here in the UK. The average daily commute is 20.8 miles, and the average motorway/freeway journey here is 70 to 80 miles. Maybe if you paid 4 times more for fuel, you'd drive less too? 😁😁 We in the UK seem to be way ahead of you in the US when it comes to EV charging infrastructure though. We already have around 30,000 public charging connections, with a further 30,000 being installed in 2022 alone. Plus the Government here is about to introduce legislation ( in June this year) to ensure that all new build housing *must* provide the facility to charge an EV, either at or adjacent to the property. But then we do have the 2030 ban on the sale of new ICE cars and vans in the not too distant future, which is also happening in most of Europe too.
@RobertWilke
@RobertWilke 2 года назад
@@Brian-om2hh yes the infrastructure isn't really here yet but it has increased greatly in the last few years. With the price hikes in gas prices, EV's are looking more attractive. That said the issues remain . Especially for anyone in a condo or apartment building. The big test is in the next 5 years as capacity gets better and new types of battery tech come out (Solid State batteries, shorter supercharging time). When that happens gas might not be as attractive to use.

It's a cracking little EV, we've done 25000 kms in one year on ours, and currently the consumption is 9kwh/100km (i'll let you work that out in miles lol). This one isn't full speck though, ours has got the upper level seat upholstery, "fish skin" design dashboard, with groovy blue LED strip, black roof, 16" alloy wheels and dual boot with modular floor. The battery doesn't need to 'wear in'. The maximum you will get out of the battery is what you will get now. But you will likely learn to drive it more efficiently over time which will give you longer range (especially in the summer). Come winter you will find out that EV's don't like the cold - range will drop a lot.

Personally I'd always go for an untethered cable as it can easily be replaced if damaged and can be carried with you for charging on the fly, but if you must have tethered cable at least make sure it doesn't stick out where it is likely to be snagged by passersby, bags, items being moved in and out of the house etc.
