New CGC JSA Labels! 

the difference is that JSA kind of sucks at verifying signatures, so the witnessed labels will hold a premium because it is only a matter of time before some obvious forgeries get "verified"

Great that they did this! What about remarks? Reading the FAQs at CGC and wanted to get thoughts on how that is handled/decided.

I think there will be a slight premium for the old yellow verified label over the authenticated since you will theoretically be 100% sure the witnessed signature is valid. As good a job of authentication that can be done, there will always be inherent doubt of the authenticity in a non-witnessed signature. I am sure there are people who can do a very convincing Stan Lee, and I would be hesitant to buy a non-witnessed book with his signature. Personally, if I had a choice, I would pick the witnessed verification for piece of mind. Of course, I will still be sending in my raw X-Men 221 with Clairmont signature😎

I agree that this looks very nice and is 100 times better than the green label. The question is how will secondary sales go for these books? Only time will tell. There is a possibility that they will still not sale at a higher price.

But if you send in a green label they also require it to be regraded. So your 9.8 might become 9.6.

I will trust the witnessed signature 100%. The authenticated signature not so much.

Great stuff bro! I see that some are pushing for the witnessed signatures to carry a premium over the verified ones. Well, I’ve purchased lots of signed comics directly from artists like Campbell, Gleason, Mayhew, etc. I’ve even talked with them about said signed books. I zero doubt that those signatures are not legitimate. I think this is great and a lot of people will take advantage of it!

LOL - "Yellow", not "gold." "Gold" is the pedigree label. Was hoping to hear your thoughts also on the whole "signature grading" concept, a 2nd grade on a slab label that grades the quality of the signature in addition to authenticating it. Can't imagine too many people pursuing that money grab.

This is welcome news and I look forward to finally getting books that I own with signatures slabbed. I did check CBCS but if memory serves they charge like $40 to authenticate on top of regular grading fees (unless they changes that). The one book I have with Stan's signature is the Marvel Annual Report which came out in the form of a comic. And my Spawn #1 and #4 which Todd signed in 1994 when his toy line debuted at FAO Schwartz in NYC. My "Marvels" were signed by Ross and Buziek. I'll be sending those in. Best to all.

Hey, thanks for showing this ,just sent in my ASM 1 signed by Stan Lee that they referred to as "Someone wrote the words 'Stan Lee' on the cover" To me, this was the stupidest thing CGC ever did. 1st, as you say, anyone can tell a Lee autograph, and second... WHY THE HELL AM I GOING TO PUT A FAKE AUTOGRAPH ON A BOOK ALREADY WORTH 20 THOUSAND DOLLARS!?

I really hate the community criticism on this CGC business decision. Will people crack out old green labels becuz of just a signature? Yes! But that was their choice to grade a unverified book or buy one! CBCS is doing it, so to stay revelant in a market, they have to compete. It will not make verifiable signatures less! That's hogwash. Business is business. Nobody has to purchase any of these products they sell!

There's very little chance a witnessed signature is fake. You'd need some serious fraud from CGC or an employee. But for these new ones, it could happen that some fake signatures are verified, but they are just good fakes. So, the witnessed ones are still better IMO.
