Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace on Sunday 14th January 2024. A cold crisp Sunday thankfully not as busy as usual, perhaps I shouldn't have said that.
Video includes the following:
Number 9 Company Irish Guards (Old Guard) coming on duty at Buckingham Palace.
Number 7 Company Coldstream Guards (New Guard) practising for the Guard Change.
Band of the Household Cavalry arriving at Wellington Barracks.
Band of The Irish Guards marching up to St. James's Palace.
Band of the Household Cavalry being inspected before playing for the crowds at Wellington Barracks.
Band of The Irish Guards leading the Old Guard down to Buckingham Palace, think I was a bit on the drag here, or they left early.

Splendid video as always MrBaton! Some amazing march selection this time by the Band of the Irish Guards and performances by the Household Cavalry Band. Must be a hustle to walk back and forth between the barracks and St. James Palace

The music performance done by The Household Cabalry Band in the beginning of the video, appears to be an original soundtrack from the first How To Train Your Dragon movie. I believe it's "Berk"

Another Great Video from Mr B Productions! The Band of The Irish Guards look like they're Briskly Marching up to SJP, trying to Keep Warm. I notice something different about the DM already. I know of no other Regular Coldstream Guards Drum Major, except for ASDM Scott Fitzgerald, however, watching as the Old Guard come down The Mall to BP, the DM is not Signalling in ASDM Fitzgerald's Signature Over Under Style. This could be problematic as I've explained to a number of people, how to Identify him over Christmas. Actually, watching the DM come down the Mall, he doesn't look much like DM Fitzgerald at all, I wonder if it could be DM Dan Fairly 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, who we last saw in the 2023 Trooping The Colour Parade. If someone can Confirm the DM, I would appreciate it. DM Puzzle aside, The Band of the Irish Guards Are Fired up & Firing on all 4 Cylinders! Just Listen to that Bass Trombone kick in at 37:57! Absolutely Brilliant! But then it is being played by "The Man with the Lungs of Steel", Sgt David Lockwood. The Irish Guards Band is my Favourite Infantry Band in the Household Division, but I have to Confess, The Band of The HH Cavalry is my Favourite Band from the Household Division. In fact in my Opinion, they are every bit as Good as The Royal Marines Band & the Title of Premier Band of The Armed Forces, held by the Royal Marines could be under threat from The HH Cavalry Band. Not to take anything away from The Irish Guards, Brilliant Sound with Birdcage Walk followed by "Trafalgar", Delvin-Pedia will be all excited! Shame the Band are moving away to the Gate, he won't get to hear much of it. Great March lists from Both Bands & a Chance for the Instruments to Shine. Interesting! the Old Guard from Clarence House 48:20 is only 6 Guards. It's usually a detachment of 9, 1 Officer, 2 NCOs & 6 Guards. Perhaps the Officer & NCOs stayed behind in a nice warm Sentry Box. It must be Cold, the Mounted Police Horse is wearing his Greatcoat too. Erk!! Another unusual thing, I don't remember seeing the Two Bands Supporting the London Guard Change, playing the Same March on the Same day. Not that I'm saying it never happens, I've never seen/heard it before! You can decide who's Interpretation you like Better, playing that excellent German March Alderflug (Flying Eagle) Composed by Herman Blankenburg, in 1910 & is opus 67 in his Long List of Marches. I think the German Judge would award Both Bands with a 9.5! Excellent Job Mr B, as always. Thank You for Braving the Cold to Bring us this Video. We Really Appreciate it! Perhaps you should Pop in to The Guardsman Pub & Top Up your Anti-Freeze Levels? Purely for Medicinal Purposes of course, Preventative Medical Purposes. We all know Prevention is better than Cure!

I think the Band of the Scots Guards is better than the HH Cavalry. The HH cavalry can have some off days in my opinion. SG band are always sounding great with the best trombone section of any band. But to each their own, HH cavalry was sounding great with on the quarterdeck I will say.

@@Yeah95607 Hello Yeah! I suppose what it comes Down to, is a matter of Personal Taste. I have no argument with you at all about the Scots Guard, they are most certainly Good, although I disagree about them having the Best Trombone Section. The Band of the Irish Guards are my personal Favourite & their Trombone Section, I think is the Best. Having Sgt David Lockwood on the Bass Trombone is Awesome, he's not called the Man with the Lungs of Steel for Nothing. It's not only for the Calibre of the Musicians that they're my Favourite, it's that certain sort of "Maverick Streak" they have, it can be seen in the "Mick Swagger" They pull out & their March Lists, they're the only Military Band I've ever seen March up the Mall to Whiskey in the Jar by Thin Lizzie. There's a little Touch of irreverence there. The Band of the Scots are impressive & Awe-inspiring when they March in Ranks of 6 & the Musicians are Brilliant, for me however, they lack that certain something that the Irish Band has & I think those 2 are the Pick of the 5 Infantry Regimental Bands. I don't think I've heard an off day from the HH Cavalry Band, but then I've only been watching these Guard Change Videos for a Year & I certainly don't see them every week, so I can't disagree with you there. I don't really enjoy them Mounted, I prefer them Dismounted, but I will say, they seem to have a far more extensive Playlist than the Infantry Bands. All the New Marches to me except one in 2023, came from the HH Cavalry Band & I think that because of they have the Mounted Band & the 2 Cavalry Regiments are so old. For example, the Lifeguard Regiment played at the Duchess of Richmond's Ball, the night before the Battle of Waterloo. So we'll just have to agree that our Opinions Differ & keep enjoying the very Good Bands of the Household Division. Enjoy the rest of your week & Stay Safe!

Thank you, you are welcome, was a very enjoyable Guard Change on Sunday, two bands, good marches, very cold morning, but at least it kept dry, which this time of year is a bonus. The Irish Guards were lead by ASDM Scott Fitzgerald. Was also impressed with the trombones at 40:07 nice little dip and raise, did mention to one of them on a previous occasion that the RAF seem very good at this manoeuvre (yes that was brave of me) nice to see the Irish Guards have perfected it.

@@MrBaton74 Hi Mr B! 😲😲 Wow! You said that & You're Still Sucking Air!?!? 😙 I'm well impressed!! Well, I'll go to the Foot of Our Stairs!! ASDM Scott Fitzgerald must've Gone on a diet after Christmas & Lost a few lbs & that's made him look taller. You know Mr B, I think some of them are reading the Comments after all, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang theme or not. Ever since The Coronation Rehearsals, I've always known DM Fitzgerald do the Over-Under Signal for Turn or Wheel & over Christmas, a few people asked how I could tell it was him. I told them he's fairly easy to spot because of that! This is the 1st Time I've ever seen him not do it! So I didn't think it was him for that Reason (apart from looking thinner & taller) I wonder if he's been looking in the Comments! Yep, 40:07 is really Good, in fact it's Perfect! (nice recover there Mr B!) 🤭🤭😄

@@vickyRoyalHistory I will say the Irish Guards and Scots guards bands go back and forth between my number one spots, the mick swagger is something else. Especially with SDM Gareth Chambers out front leading them. The HH Cavalry always have a good repertoire of music and I will agree they sound much better dismounted and have grown on me in the last year.

50:50 As the Guard leaves the courtyard, two soldiers double forward to escort/guard the Regimental Colour, or Officer, if no Colour is being carried.(Out the Escort?) 58:46 As they enter St James's Palace, the escort breaks off and returns to the ranks.(In the Escort?) If you watch Windsor Castle guard changes, you usually get a closer view of this happening, and can hear the words of command.
