We have been able to mill steel, recently I milled a 2mm deep slot in mild steel with a 12mm diameter tool at about 20 ipm without issue (mild chatter). The limiting factor is the spindle we are using which is certainly showing signs of abuse after all the metal milling we have done with it, but the solution to that is a simple bolt-on upgrade. Tolerance under heavy tool load is in the range of +/-0.1mm, although I don't know exactly. Thanks for the compliment!
