Just discovered these videos! Lived here all my life (I'm 54) & didn't know half of this history. It's also lovely to watch a video that's not full of flashing graphics & annoying camera angles, but simply presents the facts with great photos. Thank you!!
Thank you for your compliments Jules, please subscribe and enjoy the rest of the series. Episode 12 (the last) will be released at the end of ths month. Keep watching best wishes Jon
I came across your channel by accident this morning, so far I have watched 1,2 and 3, absolutely wonderful, should be on mainstream TV, you put Robson Green to shame, thank you ❤
Thanks Billy for your praise. You are not the first to say exactly that. I would be totally made up if mainstream TV bought my stuff, but they always keep to "inhouse" stuff they control themselves. Anyway loads for you still to enjoy on the channel and lots of new material being prepared as I speak. I hope to introduce a "Donate" fascility to the channel so if you ever feel inspired enough you can buy me a pint? Best wishes Jon
Really interesting video describing the history and geology of the lovely coastline. In June we are making our next trip up to Northumberland, we always visit the more well known places, but we will certainly explore some of these lesser known but beautiful beaches.
Hi Alan thanks for your comments. Keep watching because there is some stunners coming very soon and the further north I get on my journey the more amazing the beaches become. Best wishes Jon
Thanks Carol, wow Uruguay that is my favourite South American football team ! Are you from Uruguay or just living there? Best wishes and hope you enjoy the rest of the series. Jon
Another brilliant episode my wife Joyce and I you will know love your channel well done. Just how quick did 55minutes go!!! Your research told us loads we didn’t know thanks again can’t wait for the next one👏👏👏
Thank you David your comments are always appreciated. The narrative for the next one is done I am just waiting for the next fine day to do the drone work and then the editing of course, wont be too long. After the series is completed later in the year I am going to put together a compilation of all the best flight clips from each episode and put it to music, should be epic. Best wishes Jon
Had family friends who lived in the stone houses near the small harbour. Many happy childhood memories. I wonder if the Wansbeck barrage, which I saw being built, has affected the amount of sand in Sandy Bay?
Hi, thanks for your comment. As for the sand Im not sure to what it was like when you were there? Watch the drone footage and let me know, best wishes Jon
50 year old memories are that it does look much as it did but I don't remember so much rock being exposed. I seem to recall being taught that sand moves south on the East coast, perhaps the sand mining at Druridge Bay affected nearby beaches. Viewing your excellent drone footage I'm now wondering if Sandy Bay caravan park is named for the small bay in the Wansbeck estuary rather than the beach.
@@nilpoints That episode was filmed in January of 2023 and heavy winter seas often remove sand and then it returns during the summer. All part of natures cycle. The rocks at the north end of the bay are due to the ever crumbling cliffs falling onto the beach. Storm Arwin caused much of the cliffs to collapse too. As far as I know there has always been a holiday park at Sandy Bay and the name may have been deliberately chosen to attract visitors rather than being a description of the beach.
@@jonimrye5722 Thanks for your response. I didn't get a notification for some reason. Your explanations makes perfect sense. Notwithstanding the possible commercial reason for the name Sandy Bay it is quite apt. It has very poignant significance for me because it was the last place my Grandpop took us to take family photos before my mother passed away, very young, from cancer.
@@nilpoints Yeh youtube sometimes misses notifications. YT seems to adjust depending on how often you visit the channel. So if you dont visit in a while it presumes your tastes have changed and stops sending you notifications. You are like me that certain places share very special memories. Thank you for sharing your story. Best wishes Jon
Hi Mary thats ok and thanks for getting back to me. I have made mistakes in the past, so its not uncommon for me to say the wrong thing. However that video has been out now for over a year and I thought it strange that no one had said anything before now. Im often critiscised for speaking too slowly, but thats why I do, because if I speak quickly I often say the wrong thing. Pleased we sorted it anyway, lots of new stuff on the way for you to enjoy. Best wishes Jon.
