Remember, $100+ for 10 base infantry is likely the consumer breaking point for the North America market. NA alone is over half of GW's market, so when consumers tap out there it'll absolutely collapse sales.

Ngl, I've been printing already because supplementing Guard with it is the only way to avoid selling a kidney. Ironically I was really interested in getting into CSM, but after all the price raising bullshit I'll just head to my local printer. Even if CSM are still a relatively good deal and have favorable balance for a fun game, I'd rather wait a few months (and support a fellow homie in the hobby) than give these bloodsucking bean counters the satisfaction of another begrudging sale.

Ngl, with every release GW makes these days, it seems like Printing as a value preposition just gets better and better.

Less cost, more freedom of visual variety and kitbashing creativity, less bullshit of relying on whatever limited edition box that gets scalped into oblivion by FOMO jackassery and meta chasing. Too many spineless fools in the community. GWs greed is only a symptom, the cause for this madness is the falling apart of the community, if you can even call it that anymore. GW has become so mainstream it started attracting too many boring normies with more money than brains. A lot of the buying force these days is from people who will consume the products but never engage in the game. And as long as they throw out money for nice little plastic puppets that look nice on their cheap white vaneer and glass "designer" shelves, GW doesn't care about the few idiots that actually play the game. Ohe contrary, GW actively hinders people that are actually wanting to play the game. It's WAY cheaper to have people buy their product and put it on a shelf than have people play in their expensive inner city premium store locations. That's why most GW stores don't offer playing tables, leagues or tournaments anymore. They have one demo table to lure in fresh meat and a painting corner to hook kids up to buy more paint and models and that's it. GW wants people to BUY their games not PLAY them.

It's literally the Spearhead Box for Space Marines but slightly better because you get a tank instead of bikes/ATV. It's still not good but it has the same energy of that.

As someone just starting sisters who wants 20 winged ladies and just got the old combat patrol I love the battleforce as far as the contents go. My only issue with it is that as soon as GW slaps battleforce in the name I know its going to be £140ish and that feels bad to pay for what you get, even if it's probably still a discount on the individual kits. That just speaks more to how expensive sisters are than anything else though.

Brother, I highly recommend it as someone who was printing Battletech (it's not as expensive as 40k, but they just haven't made official models of every mech variant and the community actually encourages 3d printing to make kickass mechs) and some 40k Proxy models before 9th ed was even out. It's pretty easy to find proxy models completely free on Cults (or you could invest and buy some premium models, I don't really recommend that because it's easy to get scammed out of money for a shitty model (that you can't get a refund on)) and for one canister of resin you could probably make two modern combat patrols of *any* army at a *fraction* of the cost. Literal cents per model, if you get a good price on resin. I literally have 3d models of the entire Custodes lineup, ripped official GW models, not just proxies that *look* like GW models, entirely free. Didn't need to pay for a single model, got them all on Cults. Just need to learn your army's proxy terms, for example Custodes are typically referred to as "Golden Janitors" or "Custard Soldiers", they need these different names so they don't get noticed and nuked by GW, who goes trawling through the 3d model sites to take down models that look too similar to official GW models. Elegoo Mars 3 is what I use, if you want a good start. That thing's a workhorse, I tell ya.

I bought my first 3D printer (an Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro non-resin FDM printer, safe to use without worrying about gloves, masks, or ventilation) through Auspex's discount code last October. It's one of the best things I've ever bought, and it's enabled me to play **A LOT** more armies and miniatures at third-party game stores than I would have had access to otherwise, which makes experimenting with different army compositions super-easy.

Here’s hoping the rules are okay. Given the track record of the Imperium codices so far this edition, Sisters are pretty much holding a scarlet letter

I got one on Ebay the moment they discontinued it. I knew we were going to get Dark Angeled, and I was right. No neophyes in a start collecting for GSC, and they focused it on Jackals. Actual headass decisions at GW. I haven't seen them acting this stupid since the launch of AOS and Dark Imperium.

I didn't want to start my 500 points Sororitas before fall, but just bought a old combat patrol... I'm happy to say I've got pretty much all the models I was interested and can stop following the madness GW has become. Game has become incredibly hordy while prices go up and up.

On one side, I want something, anything, Votann. So they can actually get any lore. On the other hand, I do not want anything, because they will get even weaker than they already are. Probably no new units except one jump pack unit that does nothing that the bikes do not already do.

That has some stuff worth having, especially in isolation. Old Orks, with the helicopters, Eldar stuff is good, CSM and WE have good models, I think you can get a Guard Sentinel.

THats hoping Hachette dont retool the partwork to have the 'new' combat patrols rather than the ones showcased in the trial. Given how GM screwed Hachette over with letting them complete a 9th edition partwork JUUUST in time for 10th to be released I have deep suspicions as to how it may go.

i can see this happening within 10 years, doing a whole brand new "redo" on current CP line.

Sacresants were only ever good for cheesy reasons....I need armored threats, and I need objective campers, but these are too much of a middle ground to do either task well. Arcos are good in-game for the moment, so I guess that's fine, but I'm not excited to replace my old Repentia blobs with Arco blobs since they do the same thing, and Repentia are cooler looking and cooler in the lore. You're right about the monopose Sisters being horrible, and I wasn't a fan of the weird tiny units of Repentia/Arcos. But the old Combat Patrol came with a lot of great units, most casual games don't adhere to WYSIWYG, and competitive 40k players aren't really basing their armies on Combat Patrol contents....they're chasing the meta and buying 30 copies of whatever is good ATM, regardless of what box it comes in.

I assure you it nearly discouraged me who has had some decent model building experience.

Literally all they had to do was jam a rhino in there. It would have been a piddly $60 increase in value, but would have made the points on par with what was in the old one and give us something to protect our girls. As it stands right now, the Tau's Coldstar Commander can more or less solo this entire combat patrol, because we have zero high strength weapons out of the box. There is no multimelta in the kit, ao in combat patrol you are guarenteed not to have one.

Yes. If I'm a kid, a new player going into a shop, I want to see cool stuff. Old Dark Angels had a Dreadnaught. Cool! Old Mechanicus had that spider tank thing. Dark Elves had two spikey boats! The balance and on-table quality was less important than getting cool stuff. I remember the old Guard Start Collecting had a Leman Russ, a standard Cadian infantry squad and a Commissar. The low points didn't matter so much as it being obvious what you want in a Guard army. Those dudes, and lots of them. Why are GW trying to make it less inviting for new players?

@khobai Funny thing is the justification of "balance" is complete garbage when you look at Custodes where you can only use 40-50% of the box in that game mode. They could easily do that with the others.....but then how would they convince people to get that centerpiece model at $80+...Won't someone think of the poor shareholders!!!!

It's a hard value proposition to sell to people... Pay $170 for 395 points (and a low model count for a horde army) of Genestealers that are all models that aren't our bread and butter, oh and you've got to buy paints...

luckily for us, we are only garbage tier in terms of money cost. At least we have not been treated like shit in our rules (yet).

I don't know, I think both Death Guard & Thousand Sons still own the title of shittiest CP's... 1kSons are almost an AoS box with only 6 actual Marines being present, while the DG box was literally THE reason GW crapped out their BS "Combat Patrol Game Mode," because their CP was 100% illegal to play out of the box! (ie: you could only ever use 20 Poxwalkers max, due to the army limitations on requiring 1 'Marine' unit per cultist/poxwalker unit) It will definitely be interesting to see how GW can make both of those boxes even worse!

Both boxes get even worse when you look at them from a functional gameplay angle as well. The battle force box basically attempts to replace neophytes with genestealers, whereas the combat patrol box just doesn't have any to begin with. This is blinding stupid because neophytes are the entire backbone of every decent GSC list because of how central they are pretty much every strategy and tactic you can employ. This also kinda highlights the problem several factions have with limited rosters - as well as the spread within those rosters. GSC have a ton of character models, but they're painfully lacking in unit variety. Again, point at the neophytes. - GSC only has one option for doing what the neophytes do, and that's the neophytes themselves.

You buy a normal box of Battle Sisters and Seraphim and mix them with the Combat Patrol to get your weapon options. Use the Seraphim box pieces to turn some of the CP Seraphim into Zephyrim, as their left arms are fixed to holding a Bolt Pistol and therefore can't have the dual hand flamers.

Well for me the old combat patrol Box had a mix feeling with a lot of no usable minis (arcox3 and repentiax5) and because you don't want to buy more then one old combat patrol (because monopose) so you have unite on minimal number and if you want a full size you need to buy a full unit... it's fun that no one point that... but it was why I only get them with hachette because for me it wasn't worth it as a player but was great a la collector so mixed feelings. The new one yes less money gain but you can freely buy 2 of it

Alternatively(what I did) is get 1 sera/zephyrim box and build 4 as the special weapons + 1 superior(2 as hand flamers, 2 as inferno pistols, 1 superior) and then you have 2 squads of 5 Seraphim each with special weapons.

It really will depend how well the new box will compliment the old one, if you didnt get the current one before the new one drops in future it will be very meh i imagine.

It will be awful in comparison, and not be inviting for new players to join the Kabal. I will almost certainly get the new, downgraded CP, but that is because I play Ynarri, my current Drukhari CP and a couple of other bits suffice. There is no way a new box will be good for new players, but for us it might be great - I'd love a box of 5 Incubi, 5 Scourges and a Venom. But it won't, it'll be a Succubus, 10 Wyches and 10 of the new Mandrakes. Which you and me might still get and which I could never recommend to a new player.

I have 2 or three of them, another 2 boarding patrols, and 2 venoms to assemble. It’s wych heavy but they’re probably going to get a boost at some point.

Placing my bet that it’ll probably be downgraded to: 1 venom, any of their 5 person elite squads (scourges, watches, incubi, hellions, etc.), 10 Kabalite warriors, and either an archon or a succubus.

If I had most of an army for sisters but needed more flyers maybe I'd consider the battleforce. But getting started? With 3 of the same kit? And the random Exorcist in a high mobility force? The Combat Patrol is fine but sorely needs one more unit. A Rhino or Immolator would round it out and make it an actual good deal.

The Battleforce is essentially just the Space Marine christmas box with tits

We used to only get 5 acolytes, now we have 10. We went from 31 infantry and a tank to 10 infantry, 6 bikes and a smaller tank. I'm glad I bought the old CP. That said it is nice to see 10 acolytes in a box. If we'd kept 10 neophytes the new GSC combat patrol would have been perfect honestly.

Of course it does, in at least one of the ways to play the faction. You just need to read the new codex to understand that. The only real negative is the inflation of price.

I have 3 sets of Deathwatch Overkill and never bought into the last wave of releases. I somehow lucked into the Combat Patrol being exactly what I'm missing, but I agree if you don't have 100+ neophytes and 50+ acolytes, this is pretty crappy.

the only good thing about this whole sisters reveal is that our only new model can be built with spare parts of old models so I can have all the new content without paying a dime. Glad I got some old combat patrols cheap of the internet before all of this.

Just look at the price and look at what you get in the box. I'm sure newer players aren't low IQ and haven't drunk the coolaid yet, and can see these aren't good value at all. That theory isn't accurate, there is a reason they took the prices off the front of the boxes in store. They fucking know dude that the prices make people walk rightt out again. These combat patrols are aimed at players with a sunken cost fallacy that just need that last model to complete they're armies, and have got more money than sense.

I am so glad I got my hands on 2 of the 'current' WE patrol sets. Really wished I could've gotten my hands on the Xmas box, but GW vastly under supplied the Canadian market on those - my local GW store didn't even get 1 copy! The only LGS in my neck of the woods got 1 box, but one of the staff members wanted it & so they just told everyone that GW didn't allot them any stock >:(
