Doug (all you guys) are so humble and that's probably the biggest reason why I have been a sub since 15k (And don't even own a side by side)!! Love how he says Thank you to everyone who watches/etc. and does it every vid. Straight up good people, Thanks to all your parents for raising some good down to earth polite dudes..
I figured they would have jump on the Rmaxx 1000 after couple months of being out but they don’t even speak of it . I haven’t watched any videos till they let us know an Rmaxx is coming on Instagram or something ! I’m ready for Doug to bring the Yamaha’s back to the channel
Ok had to watch cause my brother said they talked about one for a second but no word so I watched and dang that can am will be all the talk for front flips when I drunk gets behind the wheel !
It's awesome that you guys are doing the sport testing side of these. There's not very many videos out there that test how they ride in fast-paced riding. A lot of people buy them to do work and want to go fast but all the other videos on RU-vid are only about work
I love all of you guys and your content. I dont currently own a sxs but will here shortly. What yall do is what i want to do for the rest of my days. Keep it up guys!!!!!
Really enjoyed this nice work guys. My friends that own the older commanders(2019 model) both love them, we just do some casual trail riding though nothing extreme. I have a Polaris Ranger which is great for working around the place with but only decent on the trail. I need to upgrade soon!!
Thanks for the video. Very nice. I wonder how the Commmander would have done in the tug of war if it had the tires had the same surface contact as that of the general.
Because it wasn't the XTP model it didn't have the piggy back reservoir shocks ,so it wasn't a even match ,I would love to see the XTP VS the XP in a rematch in the big stuff and tug of war ,The XTP comes with bigger tired better suited for pulling . I hope SXS blog does a rematch
That new commander is something else. Love the wheelbase and the cargo space is nuts (tailgate locks in to increase capacity) and the belt storage in the side of the box is pretty smart. I think for myself and the ol lady the commander would be the better option simply due to the versatility and wheelbase on the trails vs the general. Now for all out bashing the general has it beat hands down, potentially with the better setup xtp maybe it would be a bit more comparable in that aspect. Be cool to see you guys build a new gen commander as a practical trail/work rig.
Personally I think these are work machines that let you blow off some steam on weekends and should be tested as such. Top end, full speed trails, etc looks cool, but isn't practical. The people actually thinking about buying these might be more interested in towing, payload, how much can you actually throw in the "bed", noise, etc. If the people that use these wanted playthings for the weekend they would buy "sport machines" .
I'd bet the XTP with the qs3 shocks could be pushed just as hard. Those oil pogo's Can-Am likes to put on lower trims are plush but find their limits quickly.
Good video guys I enjoyed it. Could you guys possibly do a video going more in depth on the utility side of the sports utility vehicles? I have a general and use it for everything from trapping Bobcat's to tearing up the trails and absolutely love it! Im very interested and curious About the utility side of the new Commander?... thank you!
Commander looked like it needed better shocks with a touch more rebound damping, seemed to kick a lot. Really like the bed rails and cover, kind of reminds me of a K5 blazer.
Because it has the base model suspension ,if it was the PIGGY BACK reservoir shock setup that would be a different story.rematch needed because the XTP model comes with ...keypad, Smart-Lok front differential, and FOX† 2.5 PODIUM Piggyback with QS3† compression ,that would be a more even match.30 in. XPS Hammer Force tires on 15 in. cast-aluminum beadlock wheels, slot taller than the tiny ones they had on their commander
@@makatkplt In reading the comments above seems as though the commander was base mode suspension .....there is an upgrade to a fox podium deals/ piggyback fancy shmancy boingers...lol
That was a very non bias comparison. I feel like you can't go wrong with all of the testing that has gone into all of these machines it all just comes down to preference.
Ok, I gotta know, am I the only one that thought the “Bucking Buffalo” (love that name btw) going through the whoops, in slo-mo........was hilarious ? 😂 😂👍 @ 3:45 - 4:15....Priceless! Mighta been that music too, definitely didn’t hurt! I’m still laughing as I type this...bong, bong, bong, 😂😂 Omgoodness!!
I agree about a three way comparison with General HP, Rmax and Commander XT-P all two seaters. I plan to buy this fall and this would help with my decision. Thanks guys!
Adding the Rmax to the stable would be great. It needs to be put through the blog testing standards. I'm sure Doug is a little bit excited about a new yammy? I remember when Leo and Doug drove to the farm and bought the YXZ, certainly grown since then.
I still think that new Commander looks awesome for the type of riding I do. Wish it was out when I bought my Maverick in December 2020. I would have for sure got one of these instead.
Keep up the good work lads , iam in the market for my first side by side and have been researching them for quite some time and your videos go along way to helping me make my decision. Fucken here's lads , I will keep u informed as to what I get . Yewwwww
Just finished the Drag racing and hope you guys do a roll race too. A few take-aways from this. The fact that you can essentially be 10/10ths in the CanAm is sometimes a lot more fun than having to watch out for blowing past the limit. I'd still rather take the machine that has more headroom, but there is definitely a lot of fun to be had in something you can just fully uncork and ngaf. I really want to see a roll-race now. I'd imagine the general would win based on everyone's driving impressions and feel like the gearing for the start is just dialed in the CanAm. I had a 700 utility quad that was dead even with 400 sport machines from a dig but from a roll it was a massacre. Granted those are 2 entirely different machines and this is more an apples to apples, but still based on the driving impressions I'd expect the General to pull from a sushi roll and, in turn, be faster through the twisties based on both that and the hop-happy rear of the Can Am. Either way, great stuff. That intro...sick burn Yamaha...all we could get was this sweater lol.
I thought this really came down to the shocks. The commander was definitely using all its travel which is nice. Nothing worse than having 15" of suspension travel and only using 10" of it. Seems like a good machine for the tamer driver. Need to see the X TP version? But, was definitely impressed with the General when they did the track battle with the Talon.
Would love to see what you guys do to a “average family guy/gal sxs” just to give the poor man some hopes! Like a teryx/pioneer/whatever yamaha’s version is.
@@jeremiahtaylor2896 waaaah waaah i hear allot of whining i just never seen a family in a crappy bottom end sxs they either have a rzr4 or a can am max those models are so so old your just buying a 10 year old machine with a new sticker
14 in. (35.6 cm) of suspension travel 30 in. XPS Hammer Force tires on 15 in. cast-aluminum beadlock wheels 4,500-lb winch with roller fairlead, XT front bumper, Full Roof & panoramic mirror 7.6 in. digital display with keypad, Smart-Lok front differential, FOX† 2.5 PODIUM Piggyback with QS3† compression adjustment, LED headlights with Can-Am LED signature LET SEE A REMATCH with the XTP model ,for those thinking the commander can't be an aggressive car like the general .first off we have to realize that this wasn't an even match and that your buying decision shouldn't be made off of this video because the general had the edge in alot of key tests ,the commander wasnt the equivalent tri. Level rival for it , missing the 30in tires, and Fox shocks I believe the tug of war and big woops test may by won by the commander because of its already longer wheel base .(for those who may be wondering) what vehicle to pick As a cross over sxs , consider those facts and try the XTP before getting an XP it possibly may be even better in the tug of war and aggressive driving ,we dont know yet because this car is still very new , nobody seems to have a legit fair head to head battle yet of these two great machines.
Perhaps the General has more traction in low traction scenarios due to its 4WD system and that is why it was walking on the commander in the dirt vs tar.
I’d definitely like to see the RMax in the mix. The Commander looks like it still has the pogo problem. Otherwise looks like a good machine overall. My next machine will probably be a sport utility and that’s why I’d like to see the RMax get ran through the ringer. I like some light rock crawling, love trails and some hills, and could use the dump bed for sure. I’m currently in a 2018 RZR 900S.
If you’re going to do a comparison involving suspension ensure that you match up suspensions. The general has a fox suspension high-performance and the commander has a standard work/Trail shock
Really hope y’all can get an RMAX 1000 to compare to the Commander and General! I’m looking to buy my 1st sxs which will probably be the Rmax next year.
For everybody not in to fast paced high speed driving I'd like to see some slower, technical style trails. Polaris rules supreme down South where all the trails are gnarly climbs and tight twisted trails. I've been a diehard Can-Am guy for years but the first gen commanders were garbage. My Commander X couldn't even think about keeping up with the 800S or the 1000 Polaris on hill climbs and slow paced technical trails.
Almost all Can-am X models all currently have front locking differentials with Fox 2.5 or 3.0 shocks now. They’ve stepped up their game last couple of years. This is kind of a base model Commander model with visco lock and base model suspension. The Commander XT-P would be more suited in this comparison. Can-am is really falling behind in Tech options though compared to Polaris.
I have a 2020 commander was thinking about trading it in for the new one. It's just not enough improvement for me. I mean I put 2.5 inch lift with 29 in terrabite tires I fixed the heat problem in mines too. Being that its 300p lighter than both them machines I believe I could take them in a drag race as well. I like the new machine but it's not worth a trade.
