*Do you think any of these potential countries still has a chance of becoming independent? And which others do you think could become their own nation in the future?*
I don't think there will be any pashtunistan any time in near future because that thing ended quite a while ago after the fencing of the pak Afghanistan border and development of roads and highways in the area of Kpk which connected the province and made it more united. After the Taliban take over of Afghanistan. The pashtun people in kpk have become anti Taliban because they had seen what Taliban did 15 years ago when there was taliban presence in kpk.
India warned Pakistan that if there was another terrorist attack like the one happened in 2008 in Mumbai, Balochistan will be split from Pakistan and be a new country. India gives asylum to Baloch freedom fighters and when the above-mentioned scenario happen Baloch fighters are gonna get more training and weapons from unknown entity and finally get to have a new state.
@@IxoraNerain which Bollywood movie india will separate Balochistan? I think you forgot pulwama attack where 40 indian pigs were sent to hell by kashmiri freedom fighters.
Considering a lot of those predictions were about the Middle East/other Muslim states, I think it’s important to remember that these predictions were made in 2012; i.e. right off the back of the Arab Spring. Everyone was optimistic that the Middle East would overthrow their dictators and give freedom to their people… yeah, we saw how that went. With that context, it’s easier to see why they thought all those Islamic countries would collapse, which seems unthinkable now.
The writer forgot that there are already many breakaway movement even in Europe itself and it did happen when the book is written. Technically only 1 is "success" but only for 8 second
Arab spring bull!!! Created by NATO. Nothing was wrong the Midlle east countries!!! Gulf Union!??? Again and Again, NATO wants to create countries?? So they can fight each other again!!! How can you mix : Oranges V Lemons!??? By 2025 Whole Palestine will be created!!!
Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is that little has changed since the Cold War in terms of foreign powers intervening in the Islamic world. The USA and Russia, and increasingly China, seem averse to increasing democracy in the Middle East, instead seeking to enforce their own interests. I'm genuinely scared about the West and East backing Sunni and Shia extremists respectively. Nothing good has ever happened from foreign superpowers getting involved in complex religious matters they know little about.
Creating a new state is hard, if not borderline impossible in the modern world. You need significant enough support (because minority uprisings usually fail eventually due to weight of numbers) and for the Great Powers to either back you or not intervene.
@@gothicgolem2947 I believe Bougaineville will succeed and French Polynesia stands a chance because neither Papua New Guinea nor France are going to fight a war over some islands in the Pacific that make up a tiny fraction of their territory, population, and (most importantly) economy. Those are cases of indifference or at least the countries that control them likely not viewing escalating the issue as worthwhile. They don't stand a lot to lose while the people there stand something to gain.
@@SurgicalStrike41 yeah Papua New Guinea already fought a war before in Bougainville I doubt they want to repeat that. And French Polynesian has a good chance too if they aggressively push for it for the reasons you said and the fact France has a track record allowing referendums. This video literally shows how diverse is Iran 😁 as Iranian Kurd I just like Iran look like how it does today, but with a good government and more rights for minorities.😌
Iran's protests have nothing to do with a division in the country and in fact that is not even a minor threat for a country like Iran. As an Iranian Azeri I should say that unification of The UK and France is a more probable thing than Iran's Azeri part joining The republic of Azerbaijan!
@@lucinae8512 I think the first and the most dramatic error that some westerners make about Iran is that they think of Iran as other middle eastern countries but the huge difference of Iran is that these people are a real nation for thousands of years under the name of Iran (or Persia) and it should be compared to a nation like China in this case not Syria or Iraq which are built based on westerners idea. About Azerbaijan we sould take a look back in the history and see how Aran and Shervam regions (now called the republic of Azerbaijan) were separated from the Qajar Persia. Those people had even some movements to not let this happen but you can't resist in front of Russia at the time. Then you see how the Pan-turkism tries to change the identity of this part by first taking the name Azerbaijan which was referred only to the southern parts of the Aras river (today the Iranian Azerbaijan) and then making a whole new history! That's fascinating to see that the history books for example are so different in the republic of Azerbaijan today even different from Turkey.
As someone of both Iranian Azeri and Armenian descent (not Azerbaijani descent), it really pisses me off en westerners try to portray Iranian Azeris and Azerbaijanis as having anything to do with each other, we're night and day. We actual Azeris hate the current regime in Iran, but still want to be Iranian. Why would we leave Iran only to enter a much worse dictatorship that is Azerbaijan the country?
@@Reza-uf9ql Thank you for pointing this idiotic rewriting of history. Azerbaijan calling themselves Azeris is the same foolishness and North Macedonia calling themselves Macedonia while having absolutely no Greek populations. These guys have nothing to do with Atrapatan and have been brainwashed by Turkish propaganda to try to steal our identity while being pawns of Turkish dream of uniting Turkic states however foolish that may be. In fact Baku wanted to rejoin Iran after the collapse of the USSR but the Islamic government refused being worried that a influx of ex communists would impact the "morality balance" in the country. Quite a mistake if you think about as these lands were historically ours and the fact that we created a Turkish puppet state in the process and put our Armenian brothers in jeopardy eversince.
Hey, great video man - Azawad has always interested me! Despite their often tumultuous relationship with colonial French authorities, more than a few Tuareg seemed to believe Paris would allow for the creation of some kind of autonomous Tuareg-Berber state. That never happened of course and I do agree, following the Tuareg Rebellion of 2012, I think it's highly unlikely we'll seen an independent Azawad anytime soon...if ever. There's still a possibility of greater autonomy within Mali, but I guess only time will tell.
Azawad Independence was strangled by Islamists who came in from Nth Africa. Azawad Liberation Organisation had to make a deal with Mali Gov in order to get help fighting back the Islamists.
In Spain 🇪🇸 we also have several independence movements, the main ones being: the Catalan one, which demands the independence of Catalonia; the Basque, which claims the independence of “Euskal Herria” (formed by the Spanish Basque Country, Navarre, and the French Basque Country) and the Galician, which claims the independence of Galicia.
@@Snoy_Flywell see if a PP VOX government become reality, the Catalans, Basques, and Galicians could completly ignore Madrid and declare there independence. The upcoming elections will be crucial
@@Snoy_Flythere is no way Spain would stay United under a nationalist government. I’m pretty sure places like Catalonia wouldn’t be fans of another far right group running the country like it had in the past.
Theres a common theme with these, people assume that whatever is happening in a country will continue at the same rate, whereas in reality it either excellerates or stops.
Most breakaways never happen and will never happen. People usually dont realise what brother races are. As a Turk no one can tell me Kurds are a completely different race that needs indipendence. Not because i want a chunky imperialist Turkey but because Kurds have always been with us. Our cultures collided to the point that we are basically the same with small changes. I will always call a Kurd a Turk as well if they are okay with it. Many Kurds would never leave us Turks. There are too many reasons they wouldnt want to. The Kurds wanting indipendence is America spreading "freedom". Before America was spreading "freedom" British were spreading "christianity". All i want to say is if every goverment stopped meddling with our goverment we would have never had an issue in the first place. Any not brainwashed Kurd KNOWS whats going on. Looking at the current goverment if a total collapse happens and European and American Gov. start spreading peace in Kurdish lands i will seriously sell everything i own buy guns and gear to protect my Kurdish brothers from the real imperialists.
The independence of Basque country, Catalonia, Scotland and dissolution of Belgium and unification of Romania and Moldova are more realistic than all the list in this video
Its impossible to divide Pakistan its a foolish technique to make videos on dividing Pakistan and giving airs to the internal problems and civil war in the country its quite offensive i know its a trick of superpowers to disappoint the ethnic groups 😠
Somaliland is honestly one of the most stable states in the Horn of Africa. Lack of international recognition is due to them not breaking bread with the western banking cartels, not because they have contested or unstable authority over the region.
There is an ongoing conflict around Las Anod. That region wants to return to Somalia so their authority over the whole claimed territory is in dispute.
@@General.Knowledgeit's a breakaway It was independent since 1960 FROM Britain. There is no act of union signed as ruled by Somali court in 1961 You can say despite not being recognised
As a Pakistani, Baluchistan and KPK can not break up because Balochistani Government relies heavily on the Pakistani government and the Pashtun Political Parties have ran as prime minister and succeeded. The people of Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab and KPK are united, that's what kept us alive for over 70 years.
3 other countries in the article that were not mentioned in the video: 1. Split of Belgium into Flanders and Wallonia 2. China conquering Siberia 3. United Korea
Adding Tigray to the list, your suggestion is highly probable. Flemish, Tigrayan and Wallonian causes is quite similar: national, ethnic, linguistic and cultural differences
I heard that Africa wants to avoid certain border splits based on culture and race because that could bring back some bad times like earlier in their history. With that I'm sure many places do want to split into smaller nations as well.
India warned Pakistan that if there was another terrorist attack like the one happened in 2008 in Mumbai, Balochistan will be split from Pakistan and be a new country. @@pradixrajpoot Iranian citizen, ethnically Azeri. It's not that hard to understand. Borders are important, culture is important, language is important. The nation-state theory ("ethnic groups always need to have their own separate country") was invented in Europe in the 19th century; it did not work very well for Europe (wars, deportations, erasing minority cultures). Ethnic groups are free to share a country among themselves.

As a balochi i am really shocked at after researching only 6% of people want independence from Pakistan but that’s still shocking anyway I’m personally one of the 94% of people who want to remain Pakistani 🇵🇰
I'm from Balochistan, Quetta and I don't want freedom, but here 90% of people don't want freedom we just want a good government that can reduce inflation and gave us our rights
In my opinion of these i think 1 Azawad could get independence due to the borders being just lines with no geographical or ethnic components taken in. Just like the borders for the rest of Africa 2 regime change in Afghanistan is likely in the next few decades but unlikely to change borders due to the other countries not wanting to get involved 2.5 Pakistan has been going through some issues but the people from Balochistan kpk sindh punjab and kashmir see them selfves as Pakistanis internal changes will happen but border changes is extremely unlikely 3 the gulf union is extremely unlikely as the monarchies are content with keeping the power and not sacrificing it for a bigger country. Yeman is unfortunately to unstable to even stay together in it own borders sadly. If this union was to happen it would be due to the threat of iran which has clamed since the Chinese reconciliation talks. 4 more Congo's is likely due to reasons in no 1 but at an even larger scale. 5 solmiland is defacto independent but just need approval from Somalia 6 maybe not sure but more possible then others 7 Kurdistan is unlikely as it would cause too many problems for the surrounding Nations ie iran turkey iraq syria because of the kurdish issue 8 greater Azerbaijan is unlikely due to iran be a autocratic but stable country in terms of borders. Internal change is possible but if Azerbaijan gets the north of iran rest of iran may collpase as the are many ethnic groups in iran Sorry this was really long good video though
i heard that african union is completely opposed to redrawing ethnic borders in africa and instead wants to increase country cooperation. and they dont want countries to break apart and usually take african union military action. that means breakup of african countries is pretty unlikely
Just to add to point 6, the Alawites are highly unlikely to ignore their own tremendous sacrifices in winning the Syrian war and give up their gains in (most of) Syria; their present leader, President Assad's, domination over Syria is likely to continue
1 Mali itself is incredible unstable, relying on the Wagner Group for security now that the French are out. Depending on how Wagner activities in Mali are effected by the situation in Russia, this instability could allow Mali to collapse. 2 both are rather unlikely. PR China will not allow a total collapse of either Afghanistan or Pakistan as its border regions could be seriously effected. Also an independent Balochistan is a danger to Iran as they also control part of Balochistan. 3 Golf Union will not happen. Definitly not now that the UAE and the Saudi's are becoming suspicious of one another. 4 more Congo's is I would say unlikely. Rwanda could in theory officializing its control of certain territories in Khivu but doing that would endanger Rwanda's growth as a regional and continental power player. But DR Congo collapsing in the East is an option jut rather unlikely imo. 5 Somaliland had a strong case but the recent fighting in Las Anod has made people more carefull. As the whole Las Anod region wants to return to Somalia it could be used as a bargain chip but in its current borders it is unlikely that Somaliland become a recognized state. 7 Kurdistan could become independent within Iraq so in that sense it is possible. As a full fledged independent state, it is somewhat unlikely although it is not impossible. If Russia completly collapses the Syrian regime will be in big trouble. Iran does not have the air power to secure Syria so in this scenario maybe. 8 it could happen. If the succesion of the ayatollah will be as messy as it seems to be, Iran will be shaken to its foundation. This would open the door to more protests. Another option is that if a third Nagorno Karabach war happens, Iran acts on its words and join in on the side of Armenia. In this case a Armenian-Iranian defeat could see Southern Azerbaijan become Azeri territory.
@@leadharsh0616 ur right hower if the host country gives permission they can get independence example Sudan and South Sudan. Somiland needs to negotiate with somolia however Azawad could be a cival war and become independent like south or in a state of limbo Like somiland

In contrast to those Iranian officials who claim that the Turks in Iran were actually originally Persians, the late IRGC Commander Qassem Suleimani claimed that the descendants of Turkic dynasties that live in Iran are not Iranian. Suleimani claimed: "Turks are aliens and non-Iranians. For hundreds of years (during Turkic rule in Iran), Iran had no history. Non- Iranians like the Seljuks invaded and ruled Iran."74 Shaffer, B. (2023) Iran is more than persia: Ethnic politics in Iran. Berlin: De Gruyter.
Most of azeris from İran claims that they are iranian. I have an Azeri friend from Iran who says that "he speak turkish but he is iranian". His name is Mahdi, azeri name.
Turks are not genetically Turkic. The Turks from Turkey are all descendants of Greeks, Romanians, and Jewish Gypsies. Turkic people (the ones from Asia) are very genetically diverse. Some are integrated Iranians, but others are nomadic and have East Asian phenotypes.
Khalistan - The separatist movement of Khalistan is popular amongst the Punjabis of Canada and the UK, but barely so amongst those in Punjab itself. Manipur - If you've followed the news properly, there is no independence movement there. The recent instability has been caused due to a conflict between two groups in the region. I hope this solves your query.
The breakup of Congo may seem logical from an outside perspective, but if you know the demographics of DRC then that theory quickly becomes unrealistic. Unless Congo breaks up into 30 micro states, there will be intense ethnic power struggles in these new countries. Particularly in the Katanga and Kivu regions. Also, any chances of Katanga joining Zambia died in the 60s. They’re too culturally different at this point. As for the Kivu region, the only ties that Kivutians have to Rwanda is the 10% Hutu population. However, given the extreme disdain that the majority of the population has for Rwanda, that would never happen.

The question when it finally became attached to the forefathers of the contemporary Kurds as their ethnonym or a term of collective identity does not have a clear answer. At any rate, at least until the 17th century, Kurd had not yet become a real term of collective identity, being, rather, a name given to the Kurdish-speaking mass (possibly, to non-Kurdish-speaking similar groups as well) by the Arabs, Turks, Persians, and Armenians. The main markers of identity for this mass were clan affiliation and tribal belonging. Asatrian, Garnik. "Prolegomena to the Study of the Kurds." Iran & the Caucasus 13, no. 1 (2009): 1-57. USA example of a union? A union between handful of British colonisers who drew lines in foreign land? A better example would be Russia, Spain, Ethiopia, or India, with all of their cultures being united under 1 federal country. Even Germany would be a better example as they were former Kingdoms that united unlike america that was just completely made up states
@xrazi1213 you're happy because germans came together and chose the union themselves. Meanwhile the rest of the world, people were forced to share countries by borders drawn by Europeans for example the African borders made in Berlin. Great example of a union that would work but restricted by current borders is if somalia and somaliland were united with somali region of ethiopia, djibouti and North East Kenya. Then somaliland would not seek independence but thanks to modern day borders people in somaliland are significant minority and therefore wish to separate.
