Nice set up! The best upgrade I did to mine was adding a auto bleed at the drain on the bottom. Every hour it opens for a couple seconds to keep moisture from collecting in the bottom of the tank.
I am making a habit of draining it and the separator every weekend. Eventually I plan to run outlets down every other post. Someday. 🤣 Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing your setup for and experience with your air compressor with us! I just acquired the same model at a discount from one of the big box home improvement stores since it was damaged in transit. I'm eager to get mine up and running, but I need to source a few replacement parts first. Unfortunately, Craftsman's parts catalogs aren't what they used to be prior to the brand being sold off by Sears. I'm curious if you could tell us what brand of motor they mounted to your unit. Mine is from Marathon Electric (model 5KCR160DXP0025Y), and unfortunately neither Craftsman nor Marathon provide information on service parts for the motor, specifically the start and run capacitors. If you have the same motor, can you provide specs or model numbers for those components?
I'm not sure what it's got on it and it's currently very buried in the shop. Hit me up on Instagram if you haven't figured it out and I'll see what I can find.
If I run it a long time it gets warm yeah. I'd say it's normal as compressing air creates heat and it compresses a heck of a lot of air. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
You mean how did I decide it had to be 30 amp? Pretty sure it was in the instructions. If you mean how did I pick one for my box you just match the brand of existing breakers. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Nice upgrade for the shop! Looks a lot like the 80 gallon kobalt compressor I have. Mine is still on the pallet 2 years later…I should probably get to mounting it. 🤦♂️
I'm trying to decide what I would need to sand, paint a whole car. Never done it before and I want to try doing something outside my comfort zone. I'm seriously considering going this route. Great video
I was sick and tired of dealing with my little baby compressor. It just couldn't hack it. This one though will do anything and everything I'll ever need. Thanks for watching!
Have one..2 stage..craftman..,but after 6 yrs ..it craped out..made in China..went with a new saylor -beall..air comprsoir..all cast iron..American made..3 grand..but it will out last me and my son..proper maitance...use the craftman tank as a air storage tank.now..with my new Saylor-beall..unit..a industiel compresior..
I would recommend a Wilkerson 175 psi regulator/filter that has a 3/4" inlet/outlet to eliminate the bottleneck created by reducing to a smaller regulator. Also, I use the Milton V-style hi-flo couplers for increased air flow to the tools. I have a 60 gallon 2 stage Quincy and installed some RapidAir 3/4" Maxline in my shop. I have 3 drop outlets and 2 reels. This makes it nice and convenient. Next, I am going to make an aftercooler to eliminate the water out of the system. There are several good videos to watch on making an aftercooler. Looks pretty simple to make and does a really good job of separating the water from the air.
Yeah the accessories were definitely done on an extreme budget. Lol. It works for now until I can put in a whole system with drops. Thanks for watching!
I have always been scared of electricity. I’ve had the crap knocked out of me a few times. You did a very fine job hooking up your compressor though. Thanks for sharing.
It is a very nice compressor but I have a very small garage and don't have all these tools to run. Got me a 30 gallon craftsman it can do 6.2 SCFM at 90 PSI or a little bit less at 100 but it's still okay for what my needs are. They're great hope yours is still working well.
It ain't quiet. 🤣 Not terrible though. It's a lower pitch noise vs the high pitched whine of small units. Think big block vs two stroke. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Get some 3/4 inch sections of steel pipe and some fittings and you can have air on the other side of your garage with the compressor sitting right next to the breaker panel.
Not sure where that information comes from but I ran a straight line and DA sander for hours and hours in this configuration in rain forest like Maryland humidity without an issue. Just drained the tank daily. If somebody has this issue this might be a viable option. Thanks for watching!
Hi, looking for more info about this air compressor. Do you you at what RPM the pump operates? Is this info somewhere on the compressor itself? Can't find anything on rhe manual or specs section. Industrial air have one very similar that runs the pump at 767RPM. Hopefully they are the same. Thanks in advance for your video and your time.
Nice set up, one question my father-in-law bought same compressor shipping to Guatemala, are electric wired bring at box 📦 or buying separately, latin America different ⚡️. Thank you
Not 100 % sure what the question is, but I think you're asking if the wiring came with it? No wiring comes with it. I had to buy it all separate. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
I didn't run it with no pressure for the full 30 minutes. Was more like 20 and then let it build pressure. Everything worked out well. Thanks for watching!
hi your 80 gallon craftman, that copper hose into the tank, what is the size? is it 3/4 or 1/2. I am looking to buy and put oil cooler before it goes to the tank
I have been thinking about getting the same compressor for my house garage so I can finish building my S10 and paint it. I had the Craftsman Professional back in 2004 when I had my own little body shop in my home town in Alaska. But ended up selling it and closing up shop to go work for a collision shop. Now living in Southern California I have been looking to get another compressor. I've been wondering how loud it is. I don't want to disturb my neighbors lol. After all this time how are you liking it??
I'm still loving it! It's not overly loud I don't think. It's a deeper more rhythmic sound than a smaller one. Think big block vs weed Wacker. 🤣 It's sooooo nice to have all the air I need now. I'd definitely recommend it. Thanks for watching!
Decibel wise I'm not sure. What I can say for sure is that it's a much deeper, lower tone than the little that sounded like a two stroke at 10k. Thanks for watching!
I've never had a nice compressor. Used a halfway ok one from the 70's back in the day but it couldn't keep up either. I'm glad I finally got my big boy compressor. 🤣 Thanks for watching!
@@MyLegacyGarage I’m having one more problem I can’t seem to find the air valve and my other question was that air valve that’s coming out of your compressor is it welded on there or is it threaded cause I’m looking for a three-quarter inch air valve but the part that goes into the compressor is it rated on there like where you screw that whole air valve in there or was it like that screw on thing and then you well did you did you weld anything on there is it all screwed on with Teflon with adapters?
