The re-run of this is just as good as when we were live.

To quote Watt Earp: “Accuracy is more important than speed”. The same applies to CW. Character formation, rhythm and timing are critical to good sending and thus being easy to copy regardless of speed.

@@AA0Z The key has arrived. So far it seems nice. Has the tactile click like a mechanical keyboard. Slight over travel In the throw where the electrical connection is made but the key still has ~20% travel left. Will it impact anything? No clue.

Program suggestion: How does a 76 year old, with life-long ADHD, get to when he/she can process CW fast enough to keep up with the word-rate? After a year, I’ve memorized all of the letters and numbers-at a 30 wpm letter-rate. I do head copy exclusively-no pencil and paper. Result: even at 5 wpm word-rate, I’m always two or three words behind; makes copy impossible. Call signs are like mini sentences; might as well be random characters. Listening to a contester (obviously using a PC it can take 15 minutes to get his/her call sign. My current status is-I’ve quit CW. It does not resemble fun.

You are not copying at a 30 wpm rate if you are doing head copy exclusively and still not getting call signs picked out. You need to go back and work on instant character recognition.

Agreed with Kyle, Instant Character Recognition is where it's at. I work on mine by using lcwo.net and the MorseMachine (lcwo.net/morsemachine) Create a free account and hit up that link. It's a great exerciser for the brain.

George. IMO ADHD is not a factor if you have the passion. have you ever tried to learn code the "old fashion way"? My experience is to ear copy CW and be able to assemble words, at a minimum the code speed and spacing is 18 wpm. and actually easier to assemble words when code speed and spacing is at 21~22 wpm. That said, the problem is how to practice Code to get to be able to assemble words / head copy at 18 ~22 wpm. contact me if you like some ideas. dont give up yet. I am just guessing you are not implementing a proper structure of practicing Code to obtain head copy.
