In the last 800km I have gone through two pairs of Brooks Glycerin GTS20 both started to fail with hole where the big toe is, on BOTH feet of BOTH pairs! (other people in the club i'm in have had the same experience too) Never had this with a running shoe before. Really love them though as they're so comfortable and light. Just not sure i'm ready for another pair of shoes with that style of upper if it's going to fail prematurely like that, especially if paying full RRP! Shopping around can pick (the Glycerin 20) up with a 40-50% discount. Would like to hear your thoughts on the 21's now you've had them a while.
Sorry to hear your experiences with the Glycerin 20 - the only issue I had with the 20 was the insole wearing at the big toe area, below the big toe as opposed to the upper - I have just over 500km according to Strava on my 21s now, and aside from a bit of wear on the outsole (mainly midfoot) I don’t have any issues but I have heard of someone who had upper issues in the toebox with the 21 Stealthfit edition- will be going into more detail in the next marathon training shoe rotation video - (one planned in the next few weeks )
I’ve seen a lot say that the Asics Superblast can do all types of runs, easy tempo and even a good race option for someone who doesn’t want a carbon plated shoe - mind you, it is £200!
