I believe "slicer" just refers to the shape of the blade, as opposed to the thickness of the grind. Slicer designates Demko's spear point blade shape. It's my favorite among their offerings, since it has some belly but without the high tip of their drop point.

How’s the action? These aren’t exactly known for their detent strength. Not sure how I feel about it not having thumb studs. Wish it had a back spacer too but I still ordered one

I was going to mention the reblades. I’ve seen a bunch on Reddit and they look awesome. The regrind blades are beautiful, I think I may just go that way.

How does this perform compared to the Arcade? Seems to be the same knife minus a slight change in handle, blade steel, and ever so slightly blade shape (Arcade has more belly toward the tip).

Not sure about the 20.5, but with the AD20S, OG Goat warns not to use their back spacers if you have a slicer grind as it will make contact with the blade. The scales are still fine, but you need to stick with the original standoffs.

Just got one on sale for $150 on Blade HQ. I'm gonna swap the 20cv slicer blade with the 3v sharksfoot I have in the textured titanium scales. Then I'll have the stainless 20cv slicer with textured titanium scales. I appreciate the fact it's the same blade stock thickness for just that. I already swapped once before with a 3v clip point.

Good design. Not thin by any means but I like it better. Thickness BTE was really my only negative to the AD20.5 (other than the clip). I put skiff bearings in mine, a Lynch Deep Carry, and waiting on Brian to finish my Magnacut reblade. It will be the ultimate EDC (for my use and obviously personal preference).

I'm cool with the same blade stock thickness, I buy these knives to be a little more robust and strong to go along with the super strong lock. Super thin blade with ultra strong hard use lock doesn't make much sense to me. As long as it's thinner behind the edge

I agree. Not a fan of delicate thin liner locks. They have a place in the market but so do tough work knives. I just hope it’s still satisfying to flip open without the thumb studs.

Is there a Demco 20.5 that is worth it? The cheap AUS10 and D2 ones with Grivory are $120/$130 and the 3V's are $175. After that the price skyrockets to $250+ for S35VN and G10.

Ultem is actually a really cool material. It is super resistant to heat, not as much as PEEK (one of the most expensive polymers) but Ultem is much cheaper. PEEK has better friction and wear properties while Ultem has one of the highest dielectric strengths of any thermoplastic. Ultem can also be done in a lot of custom colors, though the standard translucent amber and black are what we usually see.

Always had ultim vape pieces and they always melted or got really nasty. Regardless, I'm not a fan nor think its a cool material. I dont get why they are using it with knives other than trying to sell to knife addicts that want to chase the latest thing.

But it's important to know a lot of the "ultem" on Chinese RDA's/RTA's is not real ultem 1000 or Ultem 2300 etc, and just dyed PC or similar plastics. On custom pieces, it's much more likely they use real Ultem since the modders could provide proof of buying the material when asked (something very few Chinese OEMs did). Ultem 1000 offers continuous use up to 340ºF (Ultem 2300 or similar glass-reinforced ultem withstand slightly higher temps). Ultem has been used in knives before, just usually not in production pieces. Now once someone uses a "new" material, everyone has to jump on the bandwagon.

it annoys me deeply that they still haven't changed the handle shape, it's so uncomfortable and crampy to get your 4 fingers between these two humps. andrew demko simply downsized the handle of the ad20, this would work with a more neutral handle shape but not with this one, the 20.5 is basically made for kids hands as a result. i love his triad lock but he's a horrible handle designer.

I would not pay that much for soft 20cv. No way. Ultem to me is stupid. But its new so clout chassin bound to happen on the newest thing. Even d2 ones cost way too much for d2. 130 for import d2, grivery on sale lol. The 3v came in at around 59-60rc. Cant say thats terrible but better than benchmades older 3v. Benchmade now comes in around 60. 61-63 would be better but tougher at 60. I can say its fine for the price. I wouldnt opt for it but its the best option they have.

How do you know this 20CV is soft? These haven’t been offered in 20cv before, that I’m aware of. I agree on the Ultem, I’d much rather have G10

@@R4lNG3R I just watched that one. It was so hard to watch that guy. But yeah it did bad. Maybe it would have been better with 61rc. There is an option for the delta protocol heat treatment, but that is not idea for mass production. Its more of a custom protocol. Its called delta 3v.

@@R4lNG3R yup, delta protocol is a low heat temper range. Where as the normal temper is in the 1000f range like secondary hardening. The lower temper puts more chromium in the matrix and the harder carbides in the high heat temper do not propagate in the lower temper. The protocol provides more stainlessness and more edge stability when done right. Survive knives tried this for years but had a lot of issues with mass production at Peter's heat treatment with it.

I can't stand the fact that ultem has made its way into the knife community. It's just a glorified plastic that has the color of piss. There is nothing special about it. It's actually quite cheap, so the price point at which some of these knives with ultem scales are being listed for, is completely ridiculous. Don't believe the hype, ultem is just overpriced piss plastic.

Man... I can't say this enough. Overhyped & Overpriced knives. Way too thick. I believe the only thing it has going for this piece is the locking mechanism. I mean, even the Chinese tool steel D2 is overpriced. I feel like demko laughs at the knife community when we buy his products. Blah. Sorry for the rant.

@@michaelupchurch4783 his customs while nice started at around 7-800usd and go up. He uses peters heat treat but the hardness is way to low for 20cv/m390 for the lowest price models. He'd be smart and stick with say, s45vn, cruewear 63-64rc or 3v 61-63rc. But he is smart because 20cv sells better to people who dont know any better.
