It was a win-win trade (which is rare), Halliburton is fantastic but Sabonis has been excellent for the Kings but also Fox has gone up a level, if Haliburton had been there, Fox and Haliburton would have suppressed each others play

For reals, this is the most intelligent response (much more than I expect from these expert journalists). The trade helped BOTH teams. Fox is growing with a lack of a second superstar, but has quality role players around him. If they are both in the court, they'd be stunted their each others game. Especially when they both play the same position.

@xavierb9061 Well, with Fox as the leader and Sabonis as the number 2, they made the playoffs for the first time in years, and they look good to do so again this year so I think all in all its turned out well for the Kings just like it has for the Pacers. Could Halliburton be the number 1 guy on a championship team, perhaps, but it's always tough to do that when your PG is your best player, you normally need a wing or a big man to be the main guy.

On the James Harden/Daryl Morey situation, I felt that Stephen A's argument was very sound. That was an interesting perspective, looking at it from Daryl Morey's angle. The situation was more like a personal trust-got-broken relationship issue between two men. So although no pity party with James Harden because he should have known better. it was equally unfair to James Harden to get punished by the league, and Daryl Morey get untouched.

Yes. Harden brought to light that Daryl Morey is a scumbag. Daryl could have saved himself this embarrassment by placing a contingency in the deal (like you'll get the max, but you must produce such-and-such, as a minimum requirement).

We definitely tanked last season so there's no doubt in my mind we would have tanked hardcore still. People say it was rigged but hey... We still got him after the beautiful tank job we did. The cool thing is about this Pacers team, if Jackson and Turner can step up just a liiiiiitle more on defense in the paint (where they're giving away the most points) we might legit be looking at a team who can put up 125+ in a game (avg 128 atm), but hold their opponents to 8-12 points less than they currently are (as low as 113). For reference, that would be just outside of the top 10 ppg defenses.

I was shocked when Sacramento traded Haliburton - he should have been untouchable. But, it has worked out for both teams. The Pacers are Haliburton's team. The Kings are Fox's teams and he is complemented well by Sabonis. Tyrese still needs help, but he is someone you build around.

@@SeddyPooh tbf, the Kings traded Haliburton right after less than 2 seasons - of course Fox (drafted 3 seasons earlier) was going to be the better player at that time. Both players can be building blocks on a championship team - but obviously Fox will have an easier time drawing top free agents to Sacramento compared to Indiana, especially withe aging and decline of the other California teams.

I knew about Haliburton when he was at Iowa State. 12th overall pick in 2020 by Sacramento. Yes, both Kings (now with Sabonis) and Pacers won this trade. It's been fun watching him grow into a bonafide star. Now only if the Pacers can improve their scoring defense, they'll be higher up in the standings, then talk contender for the East.

You just laid out Legler's points. When he's good he's real good but when he's bad it's impossible to win a game because he literally does nothing else and shoots you out the game. Harden the last 2 years is averaging 40%FG and 39%FG in the last 2 years in the PO. Embiid has not played to his standards but he's still been much better than Harden. When Embiid can't score he's still an all nba defender, harden on the other hand is a traffic cone.

NBA in season tournament is more difficult to win than the NBA finals. In The NBA finals you have several chances to win the chip, the in season tournament you only have one chance.

Along with our seasoned vets in McConnell and Hield. Haliburton went from top 8 guard last year. To top 3, or # 1 on any given night. I love the dude's game.
