My favorite DM moment was in a West Marches style game we are playing. One of the players got a curse from the previous outing to where they can't turn right (So he pulls a full 270 left to turn right). Trying to end a tense conversation and walk out like a movie scene........ was interrupted by the very slapstick description of him spinning around on his heels like a scene from the Naked Gun series and everyone in the room shooting glances about confused. We couldn't stop laughing at the juxtaposition of themes and tones.
Hey Congratulations! You're the winner of the fancy GM Screen! 🏆Please reach out to us via email at sales@wyrmwoodgaming.com To verify that you're the winner, please comment below the timestamp of the email you send, so we can match it up.
@@WyrmLyfe Just got it in the mail and it's just awesome! As soon as I pulled it out and set it together the first thing I thought of was Matt Mercer saying "How wood you like to do this?" As a sales tag line that is spelled out on screen before showing a bunch of wood options for the screens.
My FAVE DM moment was the reveal the BBEG was actually a squirrel that was killed in game zero of our first campaign. He came back with a fuzzy fury, wanting nothing more than vengeance. After all he was bringing us stolen rations from the enemy camp, not stealing our rations and all he got was a dagger to the heart. Poor guy, we deserved every enemy he threw at us, let alone the random unexplained woodland creature attacks and seagull hot drops he stirred up with his smear campaign. Not for the prize :) Just wanted to share
My Favorite DM moment: Session One, brand new campaign, my first go at DM’ing a campaign outside of one-shots. Players cheering at the end of the session after having a fantastic start. It warmed my heart and encouraged me to keep try. I gained a huge respect for DM’s out there
Brand new DM here, but gotta say the best DM moment is always off the table when you realize all of your players' schedules actually line up and your game night is happening!
Favorite DM moment: first campaign, first time players, and while fighting the big bad every player but one was down and both player and bad guy were one hit from dying. Everyone loved their characters and I didn't know how I'd handle my first total party kill. It's now the bad guys turn and standing player would not beg for her life, instead she acted tough and kept the threats going. So screw it, I told her roll an intimidation check even though it wasn't her turn. She won by 1, and bad guy ran. Everyone cheered! And I had my recurring villain. Trust the dice, they tell beautiful stories.
A while back I ran an arc that dealt with an earthen plane princes back story. I loved watching my players piece together the mystery of how one of the players exes(in game) had manipulated him, his family, her family, and the kingdom to assemble a coup to put her in charge of the realm. It was quite satisfying all around for them to fight her at the end of it.
My favorite DM moment was when my group kept wandering into useless parts of a dungeon I built. Essentially just wandering into the same three broom closets over and over. I decided to make one of the mops sentient, and through conversation they would find where the important areas of the dungeon were, because he cleaned them. Any other questions were met with a confused but goofy "I don't know, I'm just a mop!" Years later we still joke about it
One time our DM, Chuck, had a heart attack during play. Took us a few moments to realize he was not acting, then we rushed him to the hospital. Our group stayed with him overnight and once he was stable we continued playing from the hospital bed for a few hours. Was a lot of fun and one of my favorite memories. Chuck is still alive and is doing well, if you were curious.
Favorite DM moment is tough, but I'd have to go with the time that I made a random shopkeep so weird that the party decided to break into his house later that night to try to figure him out. They learned a few things- #1: He was a bone-collecting, taxidermy-based alchemist , using flesh-eating insects to clean skeletons, #2: He possessed/produced recreational hallucinogens, which they sampled, and #3. He slept in the nude.
Favorite DM moment: when I have to throw everything I've written for the session of the table as my party goes absolutely off-rail and I have to rethink the entire adventure along the way the party takes.
Favorite DM Moment is when running a homebrew module, the party TPK's and they get groundhog day'd, The look on their faces when I started reciting the "opening crawl" again, and they all wake up right back at the start of the module was absolutely priceless.
My favorite moments as a DM (GM) are when round the table contagious laughter strikes and it takes all of us an extra few minutes to catch our breath. It's good for my soul. 😂🎉
My favorite moments DMing is when I think I can get my players to fetch something or ask a NPC a simple question to move forward with the story, but they somehow make a 5 min quest into a 2 hours of improvised conntent.
my favorite DM moment... we started a new campaign set in Ravnica. I had just finished watching critical role's calamity and was inspired to do an intricate opening to introduce the PCs. after 2 weeks of work we played and the excitement the came from my players was well worth it. best session one I've ever experienced!
My fav DM moment was the group debating splitting the party and one player screamed « have you never watched a horror movie, it always starts like this », and another player answered in character « what’s that ». True meta moment
My favorite moment DMing was an insanely challenging boss fight with a demilich that was nearly a TPK. The players overcame the challenge through incredibly strategic choices and luck, of course. It was awesome
Favorite DM moment: creating puzzles with no answer and picking the one that the players come up at the table and acting like it was the answer all along.
Favorite DM moment: the first time I DM'd a one shot for my friends. They were all super supportive and roleplayed their hearts out! It made it so easy for me and really eased my nerves!
Favorite DM moment, first time I got to do my son and my nephews. It’s great to be able to tell a story with your kids/family. Looking forward to having all my kids able to make a story together.
Best DM moment for me is when you can tell all the players are engaged and having fun. That and when the players remember a foreshadowed clue I left many, many game sessions ago - like the first one.
My favorite DM moment is recently I started running a game for a bunch of friends from high school. It's honestly the best way we've reconnected after 10 years. Just seeing the enjoyment they get from playing is my favorite.
Favorite DM moment was the first time ever DM'ing, everyone is sitting at the table and ready to start their adventure, and there's a buzz in the air. As soon as I started describing the opening act of the adventure I was completely hooked.
Favorite DM moment: First time I took the reigns as a DM for DnD, with a group of coworkers which half are veteran players/DMs, other half never played TTRPGs before. It was a perfect mix of emotions; from the nervousness of thr first step, the relief of support from the vet players, and exitement to share the hobby to the new players.
My favorite moment as a DM was when my littlest sister joined our family game, since she wasn’t a nerd like the rest of us and hadn’t played the game before. Her sense of wonder at all the little things that we had at that point taken for granted totally refreshed my love for the game.
A couple years ago, I managed to DM my first game where I got my parents, brother and sister to play. We've been playing almost every two weeks ever since and it's a big family & bonding moment ! My favorite moment was when I officiated at my parents' weeding in-game. We had a huge ceremony, it was amazing ! They had a ring owlbear-er :)
My favorite DM moment is any time that I can see players picking up on clues that I've left and beginning to put the pieces of the puzzle together with frantic theorization. Seeing them make these conclusions is incredibly rewarding for everyone involved and as such it is one of my favorite moments in TTRPGs in general.
Favorite DM moment was every moment of my family and friends campaign we actually finished. Too many great moments of revelations, twists, interesting encounters, goofy instances and good vibes.
My favorite DM moment actually just happened this weekend. I had some buddies come up from out of town to play D&D, who I had ran for before. They brought 3 of there friends who hadn't played before, and I had such a fun time. I was surprised how everyone was engaged with the story and their characters background. You honestly wouldn't have been able to tell that they had never played before. We ended up running out of time and everyone was eager to finish the story so next week we're all going to hop online and finish the adventure! It was really cool as the DM to see everyone's interest and excitement especially for most of them not playing before.
My favorite DM moment is when my party was working really hard on the first step of a puzzle I made with heat-reactive ink and they passed it from one person to another over a strategically placed candle and it made just a little bit of the ink disappear and the party erupted and got straight to work solving the riddles that followed. It made me so proud.
Favorite DM moment: My first game as a DM. I was running it for 3 coworkers who had never played before. Plot hook was a burning cart in the roadway and signs of a struggle and footprints leading into the woods. One player heard birds in the soundtrack I was playing and deciding to "go play with the woodland creatures" and the other two decided the cart was not their problem and continued along the road to the next town. The next 3 hours were spent with them having the time of their life drinking lemon drops in a multi-dimensional tavern I made up on the fly and me panicking as I desperately tried to reroute them to cavern full of goblins I had spent a month prepping. Best session I've ever been a part of.
My favorite dm moment was went I revealed a full painted 3d printed ship for the party to board. Of course they stole it. They were so happy, it was so fun. And now they have a huge boat with their own crew.
Favorite DM moment was when a member of my party was just being chaotic af. Stayed back with the parties cart when they went into a dungeon. Decided he wanted to destroy the cart just to screw over the party. Explained to him that he'd need a high roll since the cart is pretty darn sturdy and he rolls a Nat 20; thus the cart was demolished beyond repair. Love the screens you guys. Keep up the awesome work!
Favorite DM moment is when the players began roleplaying with each other for about 20 minutes of in-character dialog, so amazing to watch their progress!
Burl veneer tablet stand for sure!! So good to see this side of the business again! Loving this regularity! Favourite DM moment was running my first Homebrew session last week. I may be new to DMing but it just feels like home being on the other side of the screen.
The markings from figured Maple looks like a TTRPG map. As for my favorite DM moment, a party member once touched an enchanted book, propelling them into the Astral Sea. They returned to the material plane years later, the Captain of the ship named Planar Puddle Jumper.
Favorite DM moment was writing a short adventure for my buddies and it actually going off super well. Sailing quest with fishing and water elementals, meeting new characters in a strange land, and helping them find their kidnapped citizens and save them from a cult with a boss battle that had timers and non combat mechanics that they loved!
My absolute favorite DMing moment so far, was setting up my players with individual introductions, that led into them all meeting each other for the first time, and then sitting back silently while they all role played and made what felt like genuine connections for 40 minutes. ❤
My favorite Dm moment was completing a two year long campaign with friends I have had for 15 years but had only played with online. We decided to meet during Halloween, and for many of us this was the first time we had met face to face. It was awsome and I miss playing with them.
My two favourite moments to DM (since I couldn't pick just one) were #1 having the wife of one of my players give the clue that the PCs needed during the session. I got her on board weeks earlier and she hid the clue on the family tablet. And #2 having the party do a combat encounter session that lead to many NPC allies getting killed or badly injured. Then I ended the session telling the Ranger PC to "wake up" and everyone found out that it was all a fever dream in game and no one actually died. Super cool to session to run! Just sad we didn't play the campaign long enough to get to the dragon ferryboat...Maybe in the next campaign. Fun video! I like seeing the woodworking and the decision making. Big Tony is so nice. :)
Favorite DM Moment was recently when we were talking to some of my former players. And they were talking about wanting to get back to my old story. And they told me how much fun the Adventure I hurriedly made up was. Being told that your story was great and people want to get back to it for a DM that's the best validation and moment you can ask for.
Favorite DM moment...It was a "yes, and" moment I had with a friend who was playing a cleric in Dragonlance back in 2nd Edition (back when clerics never really got to shine much). Well, he had taken airborne riding as a proficiency way back at 1st level (we actually made fun of him) and was now high level and riding a silver dragon into battle. He gets the smart idea of casting a circular Wall of Blades centered on the dragon. Well, why the Hell not! He became a flying Cuisinart! Attack of the Ginzu dragon!!! It was glorious!!! That was 30 years ago and he still tells the story of flying headlong into red dragons and shredding them to pieces!
My Favorite DM moment had to be completing my first long campaign. it took 3 years of weekly play and was the same players throughout. So many good moments and friendships made, moments we still talk about 15 years later. It was Rise of the Runelords, which is a great and well put together adventure path.
My favorite DM moment was when my players were talking with some Myconids in their underground cave, and I improv'd that the Myconids really liked shiny, metal things because everything they had was just muddy and dirty all the time. One of my players gave the Myconids a small brass bell and another player cleaned it up with prestidigitation to make it super-shiny. The Myconids were speechless in their awe and appreciation. It was a really fun moment for everyone at the table.
favorite DM moment, accidently TPK party. Gave them all a 4th roll, both healers for natural 20s, and the other got over 10. Party got back up and survived. There were tears at the table. :)
My favorite DM moment is actually from my first player game which got me started running a Tabletop Club at the high school I teach at. I was playing a halfling rogue and was introduced to the party as an outsider who helped progress the party through the story. Was act first and ask questions later. We encountered a swarm of bees. I proceeded to climb a tree, splash oil, and light the swarm on fire. Through several unfortunate rolls between the barbarian and I, we ended up with the barbarian pinned under a burning tree that he cut down on himself.
Favorite DM moment. Party had a delete world mcguffin, in case they got bored of game. It was for a larger quest to save the in game world. While fighting an Adult Blue Dragon (1st time I got to use one) it went south for them. Just before TPK, the cleric knee slide over to the sorcerer's dead body and bag and clicked the end world Mcguffin to go out avenging the party and killing the dragon. It did do it's thing and delete the world but it was last ditch effort. Everyone had fun, regret fighting at the top of a tower and we begun planning next campaign.
Favorite DM moment, recently added a new player which was cool. And also have the group their first type of puzzle encounter which we all enjoyed so I’m gonna have to figure out more of those.
Favorite GM moment was unveiling the physical 3D battle scene I made for my group's battle to finish off Dragon of Icespire Peak. Their jaws were on the floor. Great feeling.
Those look amazing. I had wanted a GM (DM) screen from you guys since I saw the one you made for Matt. Found you guys through CR and have been watching it since.
My favorite dm moment is when you see the terror on the face of a player when you ask for a roll that would be nearly impossible, then see the joy when they pass and the whole table feels that energy.
My favorite moment aa a DM was a simple one: it was a day when I didn't have much prepared and was working from old material, but the party decided to go in a direction I didn't expect. Thinking quickly, I improvised an NPC that they enjoyed far more than I expected, and much of the rest of the session was just them laughing and RPing with them. That feeling was tremendous.
*I am not the DM, my dad is and I know he would love this screen.* My favorite DM moment. In our game, one of our characters (J) has a sky ship that can be moved telepathically to wherever they want it. Well we had a new character join that popped on to the shop and J moved the ship to where our characters had come out of a dungeon and the way the DM explained that this new character was pulled through space and time across a couple miles had everyone at the table cackling!! It was such a simple act but pure gold! 10/10
My favorite DM moment would be from Critical role with Matt mercer and his incrieble sound effects. They are amazing and the reaction the actors/friend of his make are also so great.
Best DM moment was when in the middle of a game, my friends of 25-30 years were just role playing a conversation between their characters and I just leaned back, looked around the table and realized how much I loved all these people.
My Favorite DM Moment: Has to be when I was running a game for some of my buddies in college. They were in a dark, barely lit dungeon that had walls and floors made of bones, fighting undead and spooky puzzles. Scary type stuff. To set the mood I tried to turn off the lights but it was too dark in the dorm room. One of my players opened the microwave door and it was perfect. We played by the light of a microwave in a very small, hot dorm room with like 7 people. Much fun was had.
Favorite DM moment. I had just started running games as a DM. DnD 3rd edition hadn't been out long, it's what I started with, and the Living Greyhawk campaign had several players in the area. After playing three sessions, I asked to see the adventure we had just done, and it looked easy enough to run. I chose to be the DM for the next gameday, got the adventure, read it, and thought I was prepared. It wasn't until three and a half hours in that one of the players said to the group, "You know, he hasn't looked at the adventure for the last two hours." They had gotten so far off script I hadn't touched a page of the adventure since the opening encounter. That's been a hallmark of my DM style since. I know where you start, I know where I need you to be, and what happens in the middle is where ever you all take us. Such a thrilling moment to be able to let my creativity loose, while providing the players with the feeling that their choices and approaches to problems mattered.
My favorite DM moment is when during a road trip to vegas we had an impomptu dnd session that lead into an impromptu larp session in the woods in rural Kansas. We then lost all our money in vegas. But we defeated the arch lich of Kansas!
My favourite DM moment was when I had an encounter set up in an underground dungeon that my first group of first-timers (D&D 2E) were making their way through. I had a hydra as the big bad, which was trapped behind a collapsed part of the tunnel, only 3 heads could reach through an opening at the top of the rubble. A lot of work making sure the fight would be challenging and balanced, didn't really have anything else planned. The whole party saw it, and just noped right out of there, didn't even give it a second thought
My favorite DM moment was when I ran a new group through a D&D module with insane homebrew classes (one of my players was a fighter with the subclass of Jedi. Yes, he had a lightsaber that worked like flametongue). The joy that I was able to experience seeing my players have fun while learning the wonderful game of D&D might never be topped in my lifetime.
My favourite DM moment is the recap after a long hiatus - The players revelling in their past deeds and the anticipation in the their eyes of what's to come
Favorite DM moment, playing Curse of Strahd and a player decides to put his ear to a door and listen for sounds coming from the other side. He hears a heartbeat because the is a Mimic and literally the one in the entire campaign.
My favourite DM moment was actually my DM's reaction to our Curse of Strahd group loading a tower of Castle Ravenloft up with gunpowder, and my warlock successfully igniting the entire room and blowing out the tower and a huge portion of the wall sending rock everywhere.
