In this video I'll be comparing the NEW, just released Drybar Double Shot hair dryer that retails for $150, to the popular Revlon One Step Volumizer and Styler that can usually be found for under $60. Are they exactly the same or different enough to for Drybar to justify the higher price? Full comparison and demo!

I own both. Yes drybar leaves my hair little frizzy than the revlon. Revlon gives a smoother result but it’s very damaging. I have seen less hair fall with Drybar . The revlon just pulls on the roots and gets very hot . So in the longer run I think Drybar . 💜💗

The heat thing is what pushed me to buy the drybar version - with thin, fine hair (and thinning) that gets damaged very quickly, (even with heat protectant etc etc), less heat is more. Also, I have read many reviews on how the revlon brush pulls /tugs hair out more. Great comparison for those who don't have my type of hair issues

Hello, I’m looking for a hot styling brush that heats at least as possible, my scalp is very sensitive and I was wondering if the DryBar heats more after an half of hour of using, for example. My Rowenta brush does this, if I can use it in the first 10 minutes, then I have to let it cool of because it’s too much heat coming out. I want a new brush and I am considering the DryBar an option.
@redbloodedwoman1179
@redbloodedwoman1179 2 года назад
@@dianatrif7085 Hey! A couple of points on how I am using it before the full reply: I usually let my hair air dry a while OR give it a blast with a regular hair dryer BEFORE I use the Drybar. My hair is VERY fine and fragile - it damages very fast, so I am scared to use this on totally wet hair, start to finish. SO, I do not use it for more than 15 minutes at a time. Keep that in mind as I continue... It has 2 heat settings and does get very hot on the highest heat setting - but I never really "feel" it. I use the lower heat setting ALOT since it is recommended for fine hair and it does not get too hot on this one. Also, for the days that I am impatient and DO use the higher heat setting (can't lie! I do utilize it!) and I feel like it's getting too hot for MY liking - I just switch back to the cool setting for a minute or so, and it cools it all down again. Hope that helps (?)!

Ok, ladies, please remember to use hearing protection when using blow dryers. Most blow dryers are between 80-95 decibels and permanent hearing damage occurs beginning at 85 decibels. Combine that with dryers being held very close to ears for extended periods of time, often daily, so hearing damage is pretty much assured.

I LOVE my Revlon dryer! I use it on high, until the last 90 seconds or so, then turn it down a notch. No damage to my hair whatsoever! I'm 56, with mostly gray hair, and we all know that gray hair is frizzier. Other women with gray hair ask me how I get mine so smooth. I recommend this dryer every time. I find a lot of women are afraid to use high heat, and that's part of why it works so well. I once asked my hairdresser why I can't achieve the same smooth results she does, and she mentioned that hairdressers usually use higher heat than people do at home, for one thing. She also mentioned that stylists generally use more quantity of product than people do at home. Now, with my Revlon, I can just about match my hairstylist's results.

I tried the Revlon dryer once and was very awkward with it so I was going to give it away and purchase the dry bar version. I am so happy that I haven’t given the Revlon one away yet because I just watched your tutorial on it and you saved my life, my hair, And a shit ton of money! You’re the bomb girl. I think the Bristle Section of the dryer is meant to be used to grab the hair at the scalp and then as you turn and move the brush down the flat part straightens the hair. The fact that the revlon has more bristles probably means it grasps more hair and that’s why it smoother than the dry bar. Just a little FYI… I read an article probably two years ago from an ex dry bar employee and they said that their products are the exact same as some of the less expensive brands...You basically are paying $150 for The yellow color.

I always wondered why my hair looks so smooth when I leave the hairdresser and I couldn't duplicate it. Same tools, products, etc. My then hairdresser told me it's the heat, she used the flatiron on very high heat when my temp setting at home was about half of what she used. It makes sense I guess. I just bought myself a Revlon for home ( and they too are Ionic) because it’s easy. I’ve been a Hairdresser and Master Colorist for over 30+ years. Heat is how we restructure curl without chemicals. Other wise we would have cold flat irons 🤣. ( Which would be damaging too) anyway we like simple tools at home sometimes too even if we own Dyson Dryer’s. Convenience and economical items make the World go round. Just keep using those Thermal protection products and you will be good!💜💜💜💜

I just bought the dry bar today and I have totally opposite hair than yours. But you've convinced me to at least consider buying the Revlon and giving it a shot. This was a great video helpful thank you

Loved your comparison of these dryers. I think you are right the dry bar side doesn’t look as smooth. It’s slight but it also took you a lot longer to achieve the look you wanted and for it not to be as good that would be a deal breaker for me. Thanks for the video!

I have been thinking about the Revlon dryer and now will definitely try it out. My hair is a very similar curl to yours and I was wondering how it would work. Your hair looks great and I’m looking forward to seeing how it works for me. Thanks 🖤

I just bought the Revlon, can't wait to try, my hair is a little shorter than yours and not layered but I am hoping for good results!

I got the Revlon about a year ago I think. Right after you, Lisa and Marnie (Goldgirl) all did rave reviews. LOVE IT! I wear earplugs when using it. I section my hair, I use heat protection- Tressemme makes a great cheap one in addition to L’Oréal Oil in Creme leave in hair cream and a drop of Moroccan Oil. I never start soaking wet. A turbi towel microfibre turban for 20 minutes is perfect. No problem on high. I have colour treated hair with over bleached highlights from when my hairdresser lost track of time. Some breakage there, but not a lot and I expect it. Love that Revlon

I love my Revlon brush dryer. I also burn my fingers on the barrel because I use the highest setting on my thick hair, but I bought a heat glove on Amazon and it helps me hold and control the brush while using.

I wouldn’t be surprised if both products are made at the same factory in China with minor physical modifications. They seem too similar

Im not sure about the Drybar as it just came out, but i for sure know that the revlon, and others like hot tools, are all made by a company called Helen of Troy. They look absolutely identical and only change in things like color. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the drybar one is also made by Helen of Troy.

Ready to have your mind blown? There is a warehouse in Japan where all Apple and Samsung, etc. parts are made with signs designating the different areas. ;-) Fact.

I always say initially with hair tools things seem the same in the beginning but over time you will notice difference in the amount of damage to the hair overtime. Why i love my Dyson over time my hair is in much better shape
@RisaDoesMakeup

Hi Kim, I can completely understand that argument when it comes to the Dyson vs Revlon, but not when comparing these two. There is no known differences in the technology. If the Drybar had improved on the technology in some way, I would think they’d be pointing that out instead of ignoring questions from consumers asking how it’s different.

I’m sure the Dyson is a wonderful product, but there is no justification, for me, for spending hundreds of dollars on a hair dryer

@@kathymatthews5799 i hear you. I was lucky enough that my husband gifted it to me for a holiday but i understand the sentiment. I never would have bought it however now after owning it if i had to purchase it again i totally would

That has got to be the most detail-oriented, clear and concise review I have ever seen - of anything! Thanks so much for taking the time to make the video. I'm leaning toward the Revlon myself. I wonder if to offset the heat a little, would it help to have a fan pointed at my hair at the same time? Might sound crazy if it works, who cares?!

I got the Revlon dryer after you showed it about a year ago. Ulta was having one of their 21 days of beauty and it was a hot buy and I think I got it for under $30!! I LOVE it. I have fine hair that also has gotten thinner with age and I use a styling product with it and use it on high and it works great! If I use the low setting it takes forever and ends up not coming out as smooth. So everybody has different hair and different things that work for them. You have to do what works best for YOUR needs and style. As long as your hair is and looks healthy , which it does, it is doing fine. I am happy with my Revlon and don't feel the need to spend $150 to buy a copy!
