I know the grass is a bit thick, but it still looks underpowered to me, just like the E-Flight F-18 80mm. It too has problems getting off grass. Our home field is grass and the FW 90mm F-16 I have with a 12 blade inrunner, which is slightly larger but about the same weight as this E-Flight F-16, gets off our grass in less than 100 feet, and that's with a heavy SMC 8100 mah battery in it. The E-Flight 80mm F-18 on our field will only get off with a stiff headwind, if at all. If you put a 6000 mah in it, doubt it will get off any grass. Just goes to show that there is no substitute for horsepower, something these E-Flight 80 mm jets seem to be lacking these days. And don't get me started on my SU-30. The US version has E-Flight fans that are gutless. Had to put new FMS fans in, the ones they put in the European version, to get it to fly even half way decent instead of like a school bus!

Love these edf jets but I hate the short 3 minute flight times. Cant wait when battery technology gets better that will allow for longer flight times.

you can get plus 5 minutes on some jets. I use a 7200mah hobbystar 6s in my eflite F4. And I get about 5 minutes of flying with mostly full throttle and full ordnance. And that leaves the battery at 25~30%. another jet I love is the freewing A6 high-performance version. use a 5200mah hobbystar in it. gives me plus 6 minutes flights with some throttle management(it's a sweet flying jet, cruise at 60% throttle all day). Some of my warbirds have 8+ minutes of flight time. But I rarely keep them that long in the air. I think around 5m30s to 6m is the sweet spot for any plane.

Great looking plane and sounds amazing.. Thank you for showing a genuine grass take off although that grass looks short IMHO.. If I had a tarmac take off area I would get it... But this is not a grass bird similar to the other HH jets.... Tarmac only... But hey.. What a great flying plane and that sound.. Oh boy...

Not true at all. I fly the 70mm F-16 off grass without any issues at all, grass just needs to be shorter. 😉

Looks great!!! but I can tell its going to struggle off some grass types, I have the FW 8s version and its rotates no problem with the added thrust and power but wheel drag is a real issue with the F-16s things to think about!

seems to have problems with taking off from grass, I saw it very slow, is this jet for grass too? It is incredible but I think the takeoff was very slow.

What size wheel did you use for the front gear?

FMS SUPER SCORPION front wheel is about as big as you can get. The axle size was the same, but I shaved the hub down with a dremmel tool to make it thin enough to fit! Easy mod!

Hi, nice going on that vid there. Great to see a F16 in the 80mm class with lots of cool extras like the canopy and leading edge rails made out of plastic, and some cool ordnance too ( not in this vid) hopefully other brands will pick up on this. So it does not seem any good on grass, that take off took a ramp on the end off that field, else you would still be rolling out there somewhere ;-). Maybe if you can get a slightly bigger nose wheel in there and reprogram it to have flaps or flaperons, it could be just fine off grass. Please look in to it Rich, proof the "it wont fly off the grass crowd" wrong ;-) , Modify it, ....and fly it from the grass again with a decent 5000mah.. Hoping to see another video soon! "Crush em"

Be careful everybody, today I was walking down the street when a man came up to me with scissors. Luckily my agility is unmatched and I was able to pull out a rock. If I pulled out paper, I would have probably lost.
