I named my miscarried baby Cosmo, I got the name from it being the flower name of their due date month (October) and because I like to think "they've gone back to the stars"
Life with Onyx So Sorry for ur loss Im so sorry If This soynds silky What im trying to say Im 13 Im trying to think of What I would feel like having a misscarge! Im so sorry for ur loss God bless u xx
I’m 13, don’t play Sims, or write books, or am I having any children any time soon! But I’m obsessed with these videos. They make me so calm, thank you 💖
Dont get too stressed about it, you'll find the right name. Let it come naturally and try to enjoy the journey. I struggle with boy names but some I like are Percy Barnaby Elliot Cory Sebastian Rory Riley Safarri Aurelius Ignacio Noa Shore Coast Ember Wren Eden Brighton Amari Arlo Sailor Ezra Rowan Winter River Otto Oscar Othello Moone. It helps if you find certain letters that you like, and then you can look through baby name lists with that letter.
I'm 34 weeks pregnant and have been binging all your videos to make my list of girls names. My hubby and I still have yet to settle on a name. It's like nothing feels right. Appreciate your videos every week. You always have wonderful and unique names on your lists.
I’m Italian and my husband is French. We named our daughter Floriana, pronounced (Fleur-e-ah-na) and the meaning is flower in both Italian and French. Her middle name is Amore, which means ❤️ love in both languages as well.
This probably sounds weird. But I’ve had a really rough couple of days and I just wanted to watch this and hear your beautiful voice. It’s seriously so calming. So thank you for this. 💜
I like both pronunciations of Elio... Since I'm German I'm always searching for names that go well in both languages, and I'm so bummed when I see soooo beautiful names in English but they don't sound good with a German pronunciation! I love your videos and they always give me some gorgeous ideas and lots of inspiration ❤️
Florbela, literally means beautiful flower in Portuguese. It’s a very bohemian name, even here in Brazil, but I think it would be lovely for a boho little girl, if that is your vibe. Aurora is my favorite girl name! 💚💚💚 Such a classic beautiful old lady name.
Aurora is also a literary name! I've loved it for years and recently found out about "Aurora Leigh", a long poem about Aurora Leigh, a beautiful, independent woman who travels the world and wants to be a writer.
I had a Doberman puppy named Gaia. Sadly she passed away from parvo (turned out her whole litter was exposed by a horrible puppy mill posing as a home breeder). But Gaia is truly such a beautiful name. And how cute would it be if you had a Black and Tan dachshund to basically be a mini dobie hahah.
My daughter's name is Dagny. She's only 6, but so far we haven't met anyone with her name. It means 'A new Day' in Norse and our last name is Day, so it is quite fitting. My name being Adonica, I couldn't possibly give her a "common" name 😆 I've also never met anyone with my name.
Me and my partner don't have any kids yet, but I have been thinking in that direction for a while now. In a recent development, he has started discussing baby names with me :) We both love trees and have put a few names associated with trees on our list - and one name that I LOVE is Forrest and I was sure he would love it. But nope. And now, hearing it in a list, hearing someone else say it.... I just keep falling more and more in love with this name. Thank you so much for all your lists!!
Thank you so much, baby still not here but I had a check up with my doctor and she really thinks that by the weekend I'll go in to labour naturally which would be great! Fingers crossed!
Not exactly an alternative for Aurora but Aurora is sleeping beauty’s name. My daughters name is Briar which is another name sleeping beauty went by! Emery is becoming very popular where I live!
When she said naming sims I was like that's soooooo meeeee, not pregnant not thinking of getting pregnant anytime soon cuz I'm in HS but when it comes to creating your own characters in any game/context I'm so coming over here for sim name ideas 😊
I actually named my son forest, We live in canada and it was like 5,000 on the list of boys names. Im hoping that it doesn't become popular. My husband and I were debating about not naming him forest but a couple weeks before I was due I had a dream that I gave birth in the forest. So I guess he was "okaying" him name lol! Yes tansy is very highly regarded for healing. Blue tansy essential oil to be specific is very expensive. I think that would be a beautiful name as well. I love your videos
Atlas has always been my number one boy name! If I ever have a son, that'll definitely be his name 😄 I love the nickname "Attie" as well so that's a bonus!
Hi SJ! I'm 31 weeks today with my first baby, a little girl :) We have a name that we *think* we will go for. My husband is a "must see the face" kind of namer. Friends of ours recently had a baby girl and named her Azalea, love that beautiful flower name. Thought I'd mention it as a new world name here. Stay well!
Aw, I never hear my name on these lists ❤️ I used to hate my name when I was a kid cause I thought it was weird or too unpopular but have grown to love it. Plus the way you say “Heather” makes me love it even more 😍 (also love Evie haha)
Some of my all time favorite names have meanings that I think would fit perfectly with the theme! lexi mounic this looks a lot like my list, I love Holden (boy) and Wesley (for a girl), I also love the name Hayden (boy) which means from the hedged valley as well as fire in Welsh
SJ! I’d love a list of unusual names with common nicknames! During this video I just thought of Polly for Apollo, which I think is just so cute and lovely!
Can you do a video of elderly names? I love old fashioned girl names like Betty, Cynthia, Olive and Irene but would like some help for name elderly boy names apart from the common ones like William/Fredrick etc. Please help xx
My husband and I decided we wanted to name our daughter (due September 3rd) Aurora in January after playing Disney monopoly and both loving the name. 🤣 Really lovely name, and also love its connection to the sun and dawn. Lots of suns and yellow in her nursery, and we can call her our little sunshine. 🥰
What I would like to know.. In Germany we have something called Kevinism and Chantalism (Chantalismus) which actually means that some names have negative stereotypes. In Germany names like Kevin, Chantal, Jaqueline, Marc-Jerome, Loredana, Lavinia and Estefania (antisocial, not as intelligent, trash) . While I don't really mind those names I would like to know if you have names with a bad reputation in other countries too and if so, what would be the names? I am really not trying to bash on names but I am just curious
Jamielee Parotat Kevin is a fairly common name for people who were born in the 90s and there’s no real negative connotation towards it or any other name you listed in the US
i’m from the uk and as far as i know none of those names have negative connotations, i don’t think any name is deemed to have negative connotations here. my uncles name is kevin and my aunties is jaqueline
I'm German too but I've heard Karen is a name that is usually connected to a middle age mom that's kind of basic and boring(?) in the US.. So in a way that's a negative connotation to it
Those are such random names haha. In Canada and the US Karen has a really negative association. Being a 40 something year old who always wants to complain to the manager. And for a little while Kyle was associated with being a douchey bro type of person 🤷🏼♀️
In the US, names with a bad reputation are usually the names popular for middle-aged white people (they have a reputation for being rude, conservative, and selfish). So do names for younger people that have a lot of y’s, end in “eigh” or “lynn”, and other things that were trendy for a short amount of time (I think these are associated with “trash ones”, I guess in the UK these would be “chav names” or something).
I am a writer, so you could say I'm here for that, but I honestly just have the same passion!! Everyone thought I was wierd and I got a little bullied for it, but I just love baby names! I have a notebook of all the names and their meanings for when I eventually have kids, and just because I love them! I was so happy I found this channel, it makes me feel a little less wierd! I love more unique names, my favorites are: Calliope(Ca-lie-oh-pee), Adalind, Monroe, and Penelope for a girl and I love Elias, Adler, Wilder, and Atlas for boys!! Thank you for being so amazing! You're making this quarantine a little more bearable😊😊❤️❤️
My 18 month old is named Silas Graye. I loved the nature forest meaning behind it. This list is super helpful for future baby name ideas that go along the same theme as Silas. Love this video!
Avani is something I've never heard is sooo pretty. Woods is actually a cute name too (if only it didn't have so many bad connotations with childhood nicknames lol). Cosmo makes me think of the cartoon Fairly Oddparents! Haha
I absolutely LOVE this list! So many of these names speak to me!! Aurora, Forest and River have been on my baby name list for years, and I loved Paisley so much I named my dog that because I couldn't wait for a baby 😂 One name that didn't make it on your list that I think you'd love is Tallulah! It's Native-Canadian descent and means "leaping river" and I think it would be so sweet with the nickname Lulu or Tilly for a little girl!
I’m an Aurora! 💕 I’m surprised that it’s becoming so popular because when I was younger it was quite unheard of (apart from Sleeping Beauty) love your videos!
Almost forgot it was Monday till I got the notification yesterday! Didn't get a chance to watch it till now, thanks so much for adding some joy during these times 😊
My husband and I love the name Silas as a biblical baby name from the New Testament 💛 also I love the name Heather, has a beautiful and calm sound to it☺️
Alanah Ross both of those names are on our lists! My husband already has an Abel and a Jonah, so we want to keep the tradition going! Love love those names!
I love the idea for this series! I think a trend could be predicted of names which honor family members. Many of our grandparents and beloveds who are at risk could be honored in a child's name--whether to remember a lost life, or to make sure that the namesakes get to meet. To that end, I am thinking of my own grandparents' names: Harold/Harry, Helen, Emil, and Lieselötte. (The last two are pronounced "AY-muhl" and "Lizuh-lutty", at least according to their son, who is my father)
I’m having twin girls and I had NO idea what to name the second one and I litterly chose the first one lol there names are gonna be avani and ainsley ty for this!!
I’ve been watching for a while, but I’m now 18 weeks pregnant and have absolutely adored watching your weekly videos even more at this time! We have a girl’s name picked out, but still undecided about a boy’s. So it’s been great to watch the new videos as well as go back and watch old ones
some boy suggestions Ezekiel(Zeke)-god will strengthen Morgan-sea Dakota(Kota)-friend Zaccai-pure;just Phoenix Novak-new Oaklan(Oak)- oak Stellan-calm Nakoa-brave warrior Nicolai(Nico)- people or victory Edan(Danny)-little fire Matias- gift from god
em c Thank you! It was my mum’s name, so I wanted to honour her memory. She went by Penny too. Not sure if we’d use that nickname or not yet. It’s such a beautiful name though
I love boho names! I had a baby in 2019 and named her Dahlia Wilder Proud (pronounced dar-lia) . I love her name so much 💕 Great video, you always have some beautiful suggestions x
Nadia Andrady I have a Dahlia too! Dahlia Louise Beaumont 💕 we pronounce it Doll-yuh, I love how rare it is but I’m always so excited when I hear of other baby Dahlias out there lol I’m pregnant with my second I’m struggling to find a name as love as much lol
Hi SJ! I was wondering if you could do/have done a video on place names? I love Denver and Dakota and I need some more to add to my list. Love your videos😘😘
I found out that Lake is actually a boy name but it's like a hippie and like peaceful an earthy name I fell in love with the name Laken for a baby boy but I'm going to named Laken but everyone's going to call him Lake
My name is Laken. I used to get made fun of alot when I was a kid for my name. I like it better now but I seriously considered getting it changed legally once I turned 18.
I have a friend with a Silas and others with Silas on their list so I wouldn't use it, but since first reading Silas Marner 2-3 years ago, it's become my all-time favorite book and endears me even more to the name Silas, as well as the name Hephzibah nickname Eppie, the name of his golden-haired little girl in the novel. I have dear friends with a 10 y/o daughter named Liberty Truth!
I'm a Tansy! 😄 It's actually a herb, my mother chose it out of a huge book about herbs! It has an interesting history, as well as being used to aid fertility and prevent miscarriages, during the Middle Ages it was also used to try and induce the latter. 😬It's very toxic! My favourite facts about it are that Jack Daniel (as in the founder of the Whisky) added a crushed Tansy leaf when he'd drink his own whisky! Also, there's a very colourful beetle called the Tansy Beetle, named because it feeds on the Tansy plant! My absolute favourite thing though, is the fact I've never met another Tansy yet! Here's me praying it doesn't increase in popularity haha! 😆
@@noone-jw7nd oh wow hi! This is bizzarre! To my knowledge I've never even spoken to another Tansy before! It's a great name! 😁 If you don't mind me asking, how was it chosen for you? If you know that is! My mum picked it out of a huge book of herbs 😂I'm happy she did though! Nice to meet you
@@MillyMayy my mum and Nana picked mine from a gardening book as mum wanted something botanical but unusual. It's a super old fashioned name and I know of a few but never met one. I was born and raised in New Zealand but now live in Australia. I know there's a couple around but judging from Facebook most seem to live in the UK which makes sense. Where in the world are you? Really nice to meet you too! ☺️❤️
I have a daughter named Salem and I’m naming baby #2 Apollo and I was shocked to see his name in here. I will never see Salem’s name in any baby name lists and this just made my night. 🥺
When you said Wilder also means passion in German, I got really confused for a second before it clicked 😂 Wild in German also means to be wild, so in that sense someone could be rather passioned in a wild way I guess (Passion itself translates to "Leidenschaft"). But the thing I thought of in relation to German was "Wilderer", which means poacher. I guess you can see why I was confused there lmao
Well you know that still watching baby name videos, even though I’m having no more babies, is my secret pleasure. And I came straight over to see this one, thinking it’d be right up my street... I was right. Wilder would obviously be my favourite.... I doubled up his earthy name with Heath in the middle too. And a lot of the name I love definitely have an earth kind of vibe. Another fab list SJ... and your hair looks so gorgeous all curly like this! x
Commenting because you mentioned my name, Liberty! I have only met about three others with my name over the years, so it is a good choice if you like rare names.
In the US we would pronounce Zinnia like “zihn-yuh”. They’re my mother’s favorite flower. In the southern part of the US, the name Forrest spelled with two r’s has a bit of a bad reputation because Nathan Bedford Forrest was the founder of the KKK. And in the US there was a cartoon fairy godfather named Cosmo (Fairly Odd Parents cartoon) that might make that name a little difficult for a child to have. He was kind of a goofball. It’s always interesting to see little differences culturally between the US and UK that would make a name more or less wearable.
Claire Woerner yes so interesting! We all have strong associations with names - that’s why I love them too! So much culture and personality in them 🧡🧡🥰
I am in the US and have the same Fairly Odd Parents connection but actually grew up with a boy named Cosmo and I always thought it was so cute and cool. He definitely kept the name wearable for me!
We have Fairly OddParents in the UK too, so I made that connection as well. And the name Zinnia just reminds me of the mum from Matilda, Zinnia Wormwood 😂 and even though she was a somewhat questionable character, I don’t think it would put me off
Liberty in Spanish is ` Libertad ` which also sounds very lovely for a girl . Another name that is very common to use in spanish for boys is Sunday which is `Domingo` and in older generations there are also people with the name `Bienvenido ` which literally means Welcome .
Libertad was my great great great Grandmother's name and she was a bad ass! She took care of all the legal documents to make sure the family kept our land her contracts hold up even now. We know our family tree all the way to the 1700s when our Spanish ancestors first came to America because of her.
Great names, thanks for inspiration to finally give some beautiful names to my OC's! BTW, do you have plans on making videos about "watery"/"airy"/"firy" (fairy, lol) names? I think it'd be cool as well
I LOVE this trend. So many of these added to my list. Also I would love love to see a middle name video! I always find middle names so much harder for some reason.
Hey, SJ! I'm a new subscriber ,I just love, love, love your videos! I live in Israel and the name Gaia is extremely popular here =) I'd love for my country to be a little more brave when it comes naming their children! Hehe
Hey SJ! My first name is Sarah-Jill and I think we actually have similar names haha. Anyways, I've never really liked my name and many people think Jill is my middle name because of the hyphen and I'm not really a big fan of the names Sarah or Jill so I don't like being called either of those. I don't really know what would be a good nickname for me. My mom suggested SJ, just like your nickname but i feel like my name just doesn't suit me. I've always just wanted to grow up with a normal beautiful name. I've thought of legally changing my name for a long time but I'm only 14 and I'm worried that I might pick a new name for myself now that I might not like anymore when I'm an adult. I feel like it would also be a bit weird if now all of a sudden my friends, teachers and especially my parents would call me a new name... I don't want to hurt my parents feelings by changing the name they gave me but I'm just really not happy with Sarah-Jill and I feel like it's just not me. I don't know what to do and really need some advice haha...
Okay this is a bit off topic but we need help! We like the name Julian for a baby girl, but can't think of a good middle name to go with. I'm thinking something with one syllable... So stuck!
