@tommygreer8488 TLC was a group that came after New Edition and became the best selling group of the 90s (billboard magazine). Boyz II Men was also an extremely popular group with ~10 number one hits. So YES there were groups more popular than NE.

TLC and Boyz II Men (who Mike Bivins from NE discovered and gave them fame) will both tell you that New Edition is waaay more iconic than they are, and were as groups themselves. Record sells is only ONE aspect to consider. There's tons of other factors that breed iconic status, and New Edition checks every box. If you weren't born before 1983, then you might wanna sit this conversation out....
