So true. I saw them in concert in the late 90's and my mind was blown away by their performance skills and their stage presence was phenomenal! #GetWellSoonWendy
They’re not underrated by the ones who grew up with them since the beginning. I have followed them since day 1 and I’m proud to say that I own every one of their albums, including solo and group. Great music is great music. Love these guys!
He just as good a singer and dancer as Mike but Mike was on a whole other level with his creativity and song writing but Ralph is a LEGEND and was and still is dope
Mario Weaver Lets not get carried away. Ralph was not close to that. Ralph was a GREAT singer, and a GREAT dancer, but on MJ’s level. Not at all. And that’s no disrespect to Ralph. MJ is just once in a lifetime
Yes, I remember that interview as well and I've seen the jealousy. The women have always loved Ralph and are always waving/screaming at him, until this day!!
In the back back days there were Black records and charts and white records and charts. MJ was the first real crossover artist with Thriller. He had to fight to get on MTV. Finally his record company threatened to pull its white performer off the channel. One color line broken. I'm old enough to remember all this so it didn't surprise me to hear him say No. 1 Black record.
Your point is valid but Motown had crossover artists like the Temps and the Supremes before Mike. MJ may have been the biggest but he wasn't the first.
I think the difference is that the 'white charts' were not called 'white'. They were just the charts. Or were named for Rock and Country and Pop and were not named for a color. So it makes it seem like the Black Charts were segregated and black artists were restricted (even though George Michael was on there).
Jessica Williams Did you ever get a Jet magazine from the 80s. In the back you had the Soul music top 20 albums and singles. No need to be low key pissed off.
I so remember all of this! Some very good memories and everytime I hear these guys sing it's electrifying for me! Especially Bobby! Loved them all then and I love them all now!
Ralph had a mustache in the beginning check it out when they did Candy girl on American Bandstand my baby was born with one. He was so cute as a little guy with his. I love to watch them when they were kids Brook really groomed these little they were and still are professionals he promised them that he’d make them pros, but he also went beyond his promise he made them famous. Brooks is a a beautiful God loving soul, very rare a specially in those day when men didn’t show their love for God because they thought it made them seem like they were not men. How dumb they were I’m 80 I’ve come through it all. Speaking from experience..not hear say, been and is a true NE Life fan. My children are also grow all with them also great 👍 musicians and entertainers
Why am I not surprised that Bobby said Rick James haha. Wow 1984 my High School Years and I was having a huge crushed on Ronnie Devoe. While the other Teenager girls, were having a crush on Ralph T. The lead singer of the group.
Ralph's voice got better and better with age. He slayed w/ Sensitivity🥰, Stone Cold Gentleman n Do What I Gotta Do. Bobby had Janet n Whitney feuding over him cuz of twerking (humping around kinda songs) nasty boy. And Ronnie was basically an ornament to the group
I would love to c Brook dance that has to b something awesome. Watching NE you’re watching the Genius of this amazing man. Every group that he’s touch has last forever. He gives all of it to God, he so n touch with God. Love that man. 😘💋🍼😍❤️🎉💙🙏🏼💕🙏🏾😇🍭🍿🎀
Naa Bobby was the most flamboyant on stage and off... I'm sure he introduced himself to all the ladies there and eventually Dick...Dick remembered him, Which is what Bobby does best...you always remember Bobby...
Dick clarck knew all greats singers of the best music decades : 50s; 60s; 70 and 80s. Here, in brazil, the radios only features is the end and candy of them
On the Wendy Show today March 13, 2017; she announced that the "real New Edition" above and the Actors/singers from the movie "New Edition" are going on tour together..plans are in the making. i think they should add the "children actor/singers" who portrayed them in the film to the bill also.
beech ass neegga!! word. Saturday mornings was the shit back in the day! I miss it. After cartoons went off you'd switch back and forth between soul train and American Bandstand.
ladieessence 15 in this chip but two years following this performance. And this is when he was voted out right when _All for Love_ dropped. They aged him two years in the miniseries.
Lipsynching was of that time....these guys most definitely got better & better with time!! Hope this moment is captured in their bio pic! Patiently waiting....9.26.15 #NEFAN4LIFE
Basically artists and groups were mainly on Soul Train and American Bandstand to promote their latest album or song thru their record companies. They mostly lip synced because they didn’t have live musicians playing.
You have to remember that was at a time mainstream radio was segregated. Even MTV didn't want to play Black music until Michael Jackson broke down that door for us. It was a different time.
I didn't know guys wore belts on the outside of their shirts back in the eighties/ this is my first time actually seeing this style on anybody from the eighties that's male/ I see Bobby wasn't feeling that look either and refused to put that belt on over his shirt and put a sweater on instead. He probably exchanged outfits with Ralph. and Ralph probably did it just so they could go on in peace and be on time for their performance. I could see that happening lol. nevertheless I still love them and I still love the performance but I just want to reach back in time and take them dam belts off them boys from the outside of their shirts
I don't recall guys wearing their belts like that in the 80"s, however I can definitely remember wearing my belts like that in the 80's as well as now. Don't know who got that twisted. It looks straight female.
I love this performance just to educate most of the younger people back then nobody was ashamed of being black we didn’t need to be people of color minorities or urban.
Ralph is not an egomaniac and he sang plenty of the leads so I don't think he felt threatened at all by Bobby or Ricky singing. Ralph and Bobby are also great friends.
Imagyd Music Usually artist who do two songs seem to do the ballads first and then come back with a more upbeat tune. But the first song I had to FF. Lol
All that touring that they did and were paid $1.87 each. They had enough for a box of milk duds, but not the movie. That's so effed up! #GetWellSoonWendy #GetWellSoonWendy
Read somewhere (many moons) ago Ray Parker wrote and or produced it and was supposed to sing it but because it was too "A Woman Needs Love", he didn't.
Why did they have two different choreography routines for Cool it now? I like the other one better. Also whoever their stylist was should have been slapped for puttin Mike in that bullshit!
