Kemi Adorin' they were the best! Ralph definitely had swag early on! But then he just kinda got lost as just this NE singer Nd because Bobby had a superstar career! And then Johnny came in and that voice was is and still takes no prisoners! I feel like Ralph kind of gave up on rising to meet the challenge of defining himself away from NE. All those faces and swag GE had then he lost the inner Imphal at some point! I mean such talent among them all. But BVD was second only to Bobby ( when he bounced) in their (NE Hiatus). Bobby knew to either go big or go home. Ralph and/ or Johnny has alienated RBRM as he and Johnny Gill ( the non original member) bought the rights to the name New Edition. Like Ali famously said..”“Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them - a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill” Bobby has THAT! BBD has that! And Ralph seems to have become bitter about Bobby leaving and wished he’d done it first. Strictly speaking . I still think he would have the same reaction. Everybody ain’t solo worthy. And Bobby has that swag, that style, and that players handbook down! Don’t care abt his misses or voice or anything he’s a warrior and he earned his respect by hard earned work! And giving us great music
They accutally did have problems at age 10 Ricky had problems idk all there names but Bobby hated one of them so they started fighting 💀 so um I think it was Ricky but anyway 😅 Ralph came in so different he was so scared do he thought candy and a girl CANDY GIRL Ricky:you have problems Bobby Bobby:hush
@Tazimo Dragon Correct. He was a slimeball that took advantage of young up and coming stars like New Edition that didn't know about contracts and how the music business works. They learned the hard way, unfortunately. Starr basically stole from NE because they made very little off of all the records they sold when they were with Streetwise Records and MCA. New Edition made most of their money in the early years going on tour and making appearances. They survived the business because they have a strong following and lots of fans.
my GOD...look how in sync, fluid and sharp their steps are. For them to be so young here they were so far ahead of their time. Brooke Payne was no joke with his choreography...I'm always in awe of the way they dance. I love it!!!
Yep Brooke Payne was and still is an excellent choreographer. I listened to a radio interview he did from 2008 and as it turns out, he actually did some choreography for New Kids On the Block as well. He was asked how he felt when Maurice Starr created them after New Edition left his label and surprisingly, he didn't have a problem with it at all.
This choreography is TIGHT!! I don't think a lot of people really understand how HARD it really is to master the art of singing and then dancing together as a group... MUCH RESPECT TO THESE GUYS and the all the other singers out there who CONTINUE to put on WELL CHOREOGRAPHED shows!!
ST HASH Totally. We need music like this again. There are fabulous singers out there but nothing like "New Edition" . They are in a league of their own. Their music was clean, yet touching and extremely romantic. Every song made you want to dance. I miss them all. Glad you like their music. New Edition and each artist that went solo, rock!....
Glad I grew up during the time of real music, legends, and classics... I'm 38 born in 78..😂😂😂 My kids call me "Ole Lady " and "Ole School, and I'm ok with that. 💯💯💯💯💯 Love New Edition. #always
This is one of my favorite New Edition songs!! I don't think most people realize how talented they all are. You gotta give them credit...they have so many hits. #NE4LIFE
The _power_ of the miniseries. NE as a collective and as individuals are the epitome and the _blueprint_ for all these boybands to come in the years and was a trendsetter including what is now referred to as the _mannequin challenge_. Gotta give credit where credit is due. Salute. 👊👊👊💯💯💯💯👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
BB has always been a performer. Even in the "Versus". He eould bust a (little) move every now and then. Wish he would've been in better shape. I've always love to watch him dance.
Whenever I see them from now to 30 years ago, it's not lost on me how many countless hours they have to rehearse to look this good. And I love how they have kept a lot of the routine the same over time.
What's sad is how frequently it happens in the entertainment industry. Everyone wants to get put on so people frequently don't read all the details of their first contract. And frequently get screwed because of it.
think of another group who broke up that had more success individually...BBD had hits, Johnny gill had hits, bobby brown hits, Ralph a hit....i can't think of another group that done that...salute them boys was dope.
@Gamer Snoop ralph had the less of the hits solo vs his group and the acts that came from new edition, lol lets not kid...he only had sensitivity the others songs were good but they wasnt hits
@@demored3017 Ralph had three hits from his first album Sensitivity, Do What I Gotta Do, Stone Cold Gentleman all of which were in the top 5 and he had Money can’t buy love which was also a top 5 hit
@@Musicdoc2023 but there wasnt any song in his repertoire that topped sensitivity lol all just hearsay and opinions...with the others u can easily say that with their so called signature song lol
OMG!! I actually remember when they were on the Jerry Lewis Telethon singing this. I thought about it when watching the cast singing this on their movie. This was the first time I saw New Edition live on TV. I can almost remember the time of day, I think it was in the morning. I just remember being crazy excited to see someone on there that I actually wanted to see. lol :)
keelioness It would have been around 1983 or 1984. That song was on the Candy Girl album. I still have it lol. I remember the song was popular on the radio during the time I saw this.
I grew up with NE. From the B-E-ginning. Long before Bobby needed a girlfriend, before BBD got poisoned and before Ralph did what he had to do. I’m talkin’ Candy Girl, Popcorn Love, Mr. Telephone Man and My Secret. I L O V E these cats, including Johnny Gill, and I always will love ‘em.
Feels like going back in time. Feels like we all grew up together. Wish i coulda seen them in a live concert too. they had so much youthful energy. New Edition all the way...whos feeling me.
My first concert was New Edition. I was in 5th grade. Me and my beastie Holly Robinson. Her mom took us . We lived in MD and Shannons let the music play was hot also. She performed give me tonight also great show‼️awesome times...
I wonder if these wonderful groups ever sit down together with some popcorn in one hand and a drink in the other and just watch all their old concerts together!
