NEW ELECTRIC Cello | Unboxing  

My cello is named by my friends "Sally from the valley" because we are in Spring Valley...in San Diego, California. "Sally". A pick up is electrifying the full 4/4 chamber cello and the tone is awesome. Played electric fiddle for decades along with a 5 string electric fiddle; and now play both the tiny and the giant. I PLAY BY EAR to deferent genres on JBL speakers. Long list of songs keep me busy. Was in many bands in night clubs and theater. I luv your videos, your personality and your humar. 5 string Cellos with a High E String can really play Violin and Viola pieces down an octave.

I found this guy:reverb.com/item/6312907-church-bass-jazz-cello a Church Bass. It's a Large Bodied Cello used to support congregational singers. This Cello has Mechanical pegs (like a Guitar) because it'll hold tune better especially in Church Gigs, and they still make them today as a Replacement for those Friction pegs. They're held in by screws and they point down from the Scroll so you won't bump into them.

It has a Truss Rod, & it takes NS Design Cello Strings (basically Helicore Strings). Helicore Strings are a little bit easier to bow cause they're a little bit thinner.

Can you plug in earphones and just play it like the Yamaha Silent cello?

I'm going to someday get a 5 String Cello and it's actually alot easier to play than a regular 4 String Cello cause the High E String extends the range, and it also gives the Higher notes much easier fingerings, which means they'll sound more in tune. The basic tuning for a 5 String Cello is C, G, D, A, E which means you have a regular Cello on the bottom plus a High E String just like a Tenor Violin which means it's an Octave below the High E String on a Standard Violin. The new violin family has 5 new members, so between the Violas and Cellos we have Tenor Violins, above the standard violin are 2 new violins, the Soprano Violins, and the Treble Violin. Between the Cellos and Contrabasses (5 strings tuned in fifths) are the Small Basses (tuned in fifths). Below the Contrabasses are the Subcontrabasses (tuned in fifths) which are tuned like a Violin but 3 Octaves lower. All 3 types of Basse are going to be tuned in fifths cause it's the same intervals between strings like all the other members, the resonance is louder, and the fingerings are much easier and more in tune.

Thank you for this lucid, detailed and helpful video. I've watched many of your videos. They are all wonderful Can you help me please? I'm looking for a small IR petal for electric cello that allows me to mix the raw and IR, some EQ and reverb. Basically, just trying to get a decent acoustic sound playing into my headphones. No amping. I learned from another video that not all IR's process the lower tones of the cello well. So I'm a bit worried about that. Thank you again. And keep those fantastic videos coming!

I recommend you get a CodaBow Joule for Cello:www.codabow.com/collections/specialized-designs/products/joule?variant=16257367670855 because with the Joule Cello Bow it's heavier so this makes bowing alot easier. They're working on versions for fractional sized Bowed instruments.

I'm about to buy one of those, but in the country I'm in there are no electric cellos to even try so I'm afraid to just go ahead and spend a couple of grand on something... can't wait for your review! Also, could you tell us the price? there seems to be so many different prices... i'm totally lost!
