AL's are pretty darn good for the $$. If I didn't already buy and almost completely build two surrons, this would be a contender. I've spent a ton of money building Surrons...but in the end, amazing bikes. All I have left is to sell a kidney for a controller and battery for my UB and I'll be all done. LOL.

Thanks for this. Been waiting a long time for a review of the EX800. It's such an easy fix to get the bars right I don't know people would make such a big deal about that one. I am shocked that you only needed power level 1 and even then turned down. That turns me off a little as I was thinking a trail rider could use more that power but it might just have too much to use. I also noticed that you were surging a lot when trying to get going from a stop in the technical stuff like something needed adjustment there. How did the EXE880 do in comparison ? Great to compare things to the Ultrabee but I would also like to hear how it compares to its bigger brothers. So what was the ride quality and suspension like compared to the stock EXE 880 as well as the EXE 800 your friends did a first ride on ? .I am wondering which of these bikes might suit me best so am looking forward to more info. Thanks for 24 minutes today.

As a first ride, this was the shakedown run to see how it would perform out of the box. We’ve since adjusted the bars and power delivery in the app and it’s so much better already. No effort, just instant fixes. We’ll post follow-up videos to show how well this bike shines in technical terrain.

16+ months in the market give the Ultra Bee an advantage but we are already working on support for this bike as well. One thing that should’ve been mentioned in this video is we aren’t exactly comparing stock-to-stock. Bottom line, if we upgrade suspension (or tune it like we do our UB’s) and raise the handlebars, this bike will be a great alternative with more range and power on tap.

@@kolopier Little aftermarket things like a SXS skid plate, steering stabilizer, warp 9 sprockets aren't available for the Arctic I'm assuming. Availability of used parts as well. I can get a spare Ultra Bee battery for $1500 quite easily.

@@Tazdeviloo7 I just dont care about that. you will never have a bike that is 82kg with 5.5kwh battery and 21/18 wheels with an ultra bee. When you start upgrading ultra bee it just goes about 100kg ( and 13.500 usd ). Thats a big difference man

@ChargedCycleWorks
@ChargedCycleWorks Месяц назад
Definitely difficult for the camera to stabilize at that frame rate, not a lot of room for error with it. If you want your image to be smoother a higher frame rate with a shutter speed of double the frame rate will achieve good motion blur with better stabilization

Can you confirm which AL bike you ran in this video? You keep calling it the EX800, and refer to stats and price for the EX800, but the fender and other parts of that bike suggest that it is actually the EXT700.

That's a strange amount of range for your Ultra bee...My UB is the same wheel/tire setup except with stock rear sprocket and I can do my local 17 mile loop going from 100% down to only 65% battery. I've done mountain loops just shy of 30 miles with over 30% left on my battery? Seems like range estimates are soley based on rider type.

@@ChargedCycleWorks 30 mile loop and using only 56% battery is impressive. Would give you over 53 miles range if it kept climbing at the same rate the rest of the way so for more up and down you might get over 60. Impressive indeed. If the suspension and power is already getting dialed in I might want one after all. Still an expensive bike for Chinese.
@NOCOtrailrider
@NOCOtrailrider Месяц назад
That's a lot of money for a bike yet again coming to the market without checking all the boxes, especially on ergonomics and below average suspension. Not only are the Chinese bikes sub par and quality but they seem to continue to set them up for a 120lb 5' rider?!?! Ultimately a win for you guys and aftermarket parts but another seemingly sub par bike. Who cares about range when the overall bike is meh. You pay $9500 to be forced to sit on your ride? No pressure for the gents at Dust but I can't wait until a real bike comes to market next year for a seemingly honest and reasonable price point. At least you know they will put in the effort up front so you get a bike ready to ride out of the box. Good job on the testing and videos guys. Your helping to take this market to the next level.
@jimji2774

Everybody knows these bikes will need some aftermarket but they are getting better just witness the range increase for instance which is a huge step in the right direction. I might get one of the Artics until my Dust is ready as startups are notoriously late and there is no guarantee they won't need tweaking either.
