I think a good alternative to the hood design would be a reverse scoop hiding the trumpets. They look cool but that way they would be protected from anything falling inside + you could drive in the rain

I’m with Bozo, a big rectangle Filter will hide a lot of the ugly stuff and sit higher out the bonnet. Will also look tough contrasting the blue!

For the hood I would have kept the original cut outs but I would have cut the hood so that you could bend it down at the back and then box the sides in. That way all the trumpets would be sticking out of the hood the same amount . Skyline is looking sick now 😍

Actually you are not the first ones to come up with the idea of rotary lada) there was an original lada 2105 with a rotary from factory. Built for KGB agents. Had around 140hp

I really think the Skyline with hood is really good looking, the cutout is much better than the old one and 2 long filters would make it even better for sure !

I have seen the cars, first bumped the crew and talked a bit with Adaś at FRIENDdly fest. Cars look great, guys were busy, Kebin looks smaller in real life than expected and Bozo looks taller then expected! Keep up the great work!

I'm sure you guys will come up with something innovative for the trumpets but here are some ideas. Reshape the hood or create a hood scoop that, instead of raising the height of the hood, lowers the level of the hood right around the trumpets to just below their tops, making them a focal point, almost like a valley. Consider filling in the cutout with carbon fiber, a honey comb grill, or maybe even plexiglass. Make a cover that can be added in case of raise. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Add a vented perpex window to the hood like on a Lamborghini, could look sick!

hey Sam, you should put a little intake vent on the skyline instead of just a hole. idk if it will look any good but that's an idea.

I had ITBs on a big ford v8 that had a similar look. I ended up using the individual round air filters that have a chrome base and top rather than the long square or rectangle filters box. It kept the individual look of the ITB’s. I believe they still make them. You could keep them in chrome for flash, color match them or just sand blast or use aluminum for a matte look. I ended up putting a super charger after a year, tall roots style blower. But it blocks your sight line so might not be so good for drifting. You can also put a shaker scoop that clips on and off. I’ve seen them done in clear plastic recently to show off the ITB’s. You’ll like the 8 series engine they are more reliable than the 7 series, there just aren’t nearly as many parts for them.

I’ll never take this back 21:31 you guys built the nicest r32. It’s the best in all RU-vid build hand down.

Great work so far! it’s really cool to the skyline’s journey to be completed. I think the front of the car might look a little better if you cut the part that hangs in between the headlights so that it was maybe an inch higher

Even though you wouldn’t be able to see the engine, a cowl hood would go really well with that car. Especially with the rear wing.

You should do a quater hood on the skyline, basically just cut the hood less then half and it shows the whole engine but still covers the front and attaches above the headlights.

Make the air filter on the hood, but in similar straight, sharp shapes like back wing. And from same material, so you will have some aluminium (silver colour) on the hood too, like the back and writing on the sides.

you could make the trumpets to the rear taller, it would probably mess with the current tune but it could give the car a better overall powerband, multiple brands that make OEM or high-end aftermarket ITB kits already vary the size of their stacks, it could make for a very interesting experiment! - ITB guy that doesn't know much about ITB's :)

The first thing that came to my mind after seeing the trumpets was the Hoonicorn V1's intake cover/box. Maybe theres a way to adapt the design onto the hood to bridge the difference in height.

You could put some sort of a hood cowel/ air vent in the r32. Many American muscle cars have something like that in the hood, both stock and aftermarket.

About the hood for Skyline - I suggest making a recess in the hood across the width of the strip between the front lights and with an angle of inclination corresponding to the angle of the trumpets.

Put a cowl induction hood like the foxbody guys. It would look sick imo
