Evernote has just rolled out a new update with many new features, including the way we create links to other files to add recurring tasks and set many defaults. It is a major release of new ways to use the application.

This is awesome! With all the talk of EN becoming strictly a notetaking app with the new ownership, this shows that is not at all correcdt. EN is becoming a VERY powerful platform. I've looked at a lot of options, I don't see EN "settling" at all - they are becoming the real leader in this space. The days of complacency left EN in 2020 / 2021 and they are indeed becoming a platform like no other. .

Thanks for this video, Dave. I've been waiting on a good update for the Web Version of Evernote for years. Since I use a Linux desktop with Evernote/Web and a Chromebook, also with Evernote/Web while on the road, I've really been missing out on some of the features of the Evernote/Desktop versions. They're just so much more powerful.... I hope this update to Evernote/Web will solve some of the functions I've been missing. /Bob A 10-year+ Evernote lover (...been waiting a long time). PS: Each time I seriously consider moving on to a different notes app, Evernote "throws me a bone" causing me to return to the kennel. Perhaps this update will keep me around for a very long time. Thanks again for your great videos, Dave.

Haha. I am in the same position. I downloaded obsidian recently but now decided to stick again w Evernote... after the latest news. Been with EN for years and years. Love that it's getting these updates now. I really DO WANT to stay!

In my opinion, no so-called productivity app is worthy of being called a productivity app if you cannot access your work offline. So I am glad to see this feature as limited as it may be. It is being downloaded as I type this, so we will see. This is why I use Obsidian. I do not need a web connection.

@@daveedwardsmedia Thanks Dave. As a slight aside, I often seem a tad too critical, but notes, lists and the like are vital. I like to eat so any system I employ is a big deal and finding a system that works is vital. Cheers

A very critic but honest comment : 1) Still using Legacy cause newest is so slow. Also there are features that are not present on the new version , for instance being able to sort EACH NoteBook on it's own way. I like to have Inbox sorted by last updated, as usual. But I have other NBs that I like to sort by TITLE. This can't be done on the new Evernote. Change the sorting order of a NB and it will change them all together. Import folder REMOVING (swallowing) the file is not there either. 2) Newest version is soooooooooo slow. 3) Editing (viewing) CSV/XLS files inside the Note is really GREAT ! Awesome. But I'd have to pay for it. And it's expensive. Why would I pay for something that "left me" behind all of the features that I had before ? I'm a subscriber for so loong and feel I should be gifted with new features, not pay for them. I'm not being gifted. I'm been punished with a worst product that I had before. 4) How about being able to encrypt a whole note (or NoteBook) ? Not able to. 5) Task Management : there better Apps for that. I currently use TickTick and think it's awesome. Way better. IMHO EN is kind of "lost"... Anyway thanks for the video.

@@daveedwardsmedia Other comments: 1) Internal image editor : one of the things I do *A LOT* is to screen capture and throw it into Evernote. However the image editor is sooooooooo poor. So poor. When we had Skitch it was better. After Skitch aquisition I expected to see big improvements at this point. Quite the opposite happened. It got frozen. No more improvements whatsoever. And image annotation is something so simple to program. It's a "staple". Evernote could have huge improvements here. I have to use external image Editors for the job. But of course they're not integrated. Incredible how something so simple is not accomplished by EN. 2) Editing sketches : I have a Samsung Note 20, with Stylus. So it's very nice to be able to sketch my notes "on-the-go". I cannot edit them at the PC !!! When I edit with EN internal editor I can no longer edit on my mobile phone. This is so sad for me cause I like to sketch "on-the-go" and refine the drawing later at the Desktop. But I could go back to the mobile to add more handwritten notes, after edition at the Desktop... 3) Being able to choose which image will represent my note, instead of EN choosing it on its own automatically and sometimes wrongly. Such a simple thing... So simple like to open a "Pick Image File Windows Dialog"... 4) Dictate notes "on-the-go" (at the mobile) and have them transcribed for my automatically. Original audio would come along with the transcription, just in case the transcription is not OK I would have the original audio to fix the text. This would be awesome for Journaling. So many times I'd like to journal but at the end of the day I'm so tired to sit at the PC and type the journal. Having this service would be awesome. I could even drop notes (audios) during the day, as well as pictures (and or videos). 5) Easy widget to drop a short video (limited size) directly into EN. Again for journaling purposes (and other issues of course). So simple... 6) Evernote internal links (those who start with evernote://) dont work well. Say I have a NotePad file and I'd like to put a link to a note on it (or a Word/Excel file it doesnt matter). I'd like to open it inside EN Desktop App. It doesn't work ! I have to use Web Version that again, is sooooooooooooo slow. 7) Notes GPS location were lost at the new version ? Where are they ? As for the Bending Spoons acquisition, I imagine it will be for offering some sort of AI to our notes. However for AI we have lots of stuff already, way better. Just to mention Google Lens. What's the point of having AI inside EN once so many basic things as I mentioned above were left behind ? I'm being rude, I know. But very disapointed with EN....It's one of my most used Desktop applications but I feel it's goind "LADEIRA ABAIXO", as we would say in Brazilian Portuguese. Or simply : DownHill. Sorry again for being so rude. And thanks for your comprehension ! BTW you look like an Senior Cobol Programmer ! I say that cause I am.... Best wishes !
