how can I disable contact posters? I like the circle pic and more importantly, I like to control the pics of people that come up on my phone. I also want to avoid someone making an inappropriate pic as their contact and having show up on my phone.
I have a two-column excel spreadsheet I would like to add into a Reminders . It contains all my grocery items and the aisle number they are in. What is the best way?
The Poster Contact should have the option of having your different contacts see a different poster. Like my close friends would see a goofy picture when I call but my business contacts would see a more professional photo.
Can you use spotlight with the iPhone and the iPad? If so please explain how to access spotlight and the difference between using spotlight on an iPhone compared to on a Mac computer.?
Thanks for this. I just upgraded to iOS 17. I created a photo for people to see when I call them, but it looks like it only works if the person you're calling has iOS 17. My wife has an older iOS version and she doesn't see the photo when I call her.

Thanks Gary, two issues with my phone, first, for posters, enable is greyed out. Can’t go further and don’t know why. Second, Standby works fine until it doesn’t. Screen doesn’t stay on, surmising this only works for iPhone 14 and newer because of always on? iPhone 12 Pro Max (going to 15 Pro Max).
I'm running into a interesting issue with my Iphone 12 pro max, running IOS 17.0.1. I've recently traveled from Arizona to New Jersey and I wanted to use the standby feature. My phone displayed the correct time for New Jeresy EST, but when my phone was in standby mode, the time displayed was still Arizona time. So 9PM EST was displaying 6PM in standby mode. Even though my IPHONE itself when not in standby showed 9pm EST time. Any Thoughts????
We are 2023 and Apple seems still not to be able to give Messages multi-lingual support when typing. Bummer, especially in countries like Belgium, where we mix at least 3 languages during the day. A shame really...
I think they just see your icon, or whatever they have in their Contacts app as you icon, as before. I have no idea what an Android person sees. Maybe just your phone number or whatever they have in their Contacts app-equivalent.
Visual lookup it never worked for me. I checked the language and region and even checked the feature toggle is on in Siri settings. But it never shows. Any idea?
I wish you could set up contact posters per contact. Does standby mode require a MagSafe charger, or will any wireless charger work as long as it’s in landscape mode?
You can set up contact posters per contact. Usually the actual person would set that on their iPhone and you'd accept it on your iPhone. But if you really wanted to set their contact info for yourself on your iPhone, then do that in the Contacts app. Standby mode will work with a cable too, yes.
@@BreakTime10101 Two different things. Standby mode certainly works on older iPhones and it sounds like you are already using it. But Always On is a feature of the newer models. They work great together, true.
@@BreakTime10101 Standby modę = horizontal info display. Always On = display doesn't need to sleep. Two different things that work well together, but if you don't have Always On then you can still use Standby mode. The screen will just go off and you have to tap it to turn to back on. Same way the iPhone screen works before, and the Apple Watch "nightstand mode" works.

You shouldn't really need anything to do that. Just fill them out in the Files app if you have them downloaded, or reply to an email message with them and fill them out there.

Cool info Gary. Thank you for digging into iOS 17 for us. Something that I have been looking for is a separate ring tone that I can use for each of the two lines I have on my phone. I am aware that I can have different ring tones per contact but for the business line I have it would be nice to have a different ring instead of looking at the tiny icon that identifies that line.
Hope iPhone users realise how far behind ios is from android. 😂.. Android users have had most of this stuff for years already. Only non tech savvy people will find this stuff impressive.
