The 7Hz Legato shown in this review has a very cool driver configuration. They use a dual dynamic setup, but instead of opting for 2 drivers the same size, they use one 12mm for the lows and a 6mm smaller driver for the highs. Nice packaging, a good carry case and a very nice cable round out a very strong showing in the low-priced earphone market.

Great review! P1 Max and Etymotic owner here and can confirm the Legato is definitely a niche aux headphone. When you are in the right mood it just clicks, but on other occasions the muted presence can almost feel stuffy - even though the technical performance of the Legato has clarity. So reaching back to your all rounder becomes a breathe of fresh air. Having used many expensive sets I can say the P1 Max is outstanding regardless of price bracket. Those interested in a bass set but one that has natural presence and correct upper mid/treble tonality should check out the CCA HM20. Really great implementation of a hybrid in a compact package. HM20 is quickly becoming a favourite for everything.

I like mine quite a lot. Definitely not a main iem though, also I suggest wide bore tips like tri clarion or spiral dots. The stage opens up with those wide bore tips and you almost get a holographic stage.

Nice to see different tuning at sort of a budget range. Sadly no waifu, but i do love the tuning. Maybe an ultra budget fat freq maestro. Also thanks for the review, cheers.

Good review, thanks for sharing. One question though, you mentioned Xenns Up as Bass monsters. I don't understand this, I bought them 2 months ago and I am really disappointed with the bass, yest there is slam, but there is next to no mid bass. Bass guitars sound feble and weak, rolling synths have no drive. Do you think I have a faulty set? Because it doesn't make sense to me.

@@AudioLevels Thought as much, thanks. Tried a few, just my Xperia Pro, 2 different fiio portable, and my custom desktop. With the latter giving slam and a bit more warmth but drowning the mids in the process. Also gone through 12 different tips. The mid)low bass (although muddy) is stronger by far on the zero I have.

@@Seewhattheysee Yeh definetly sounds suspect. Id say bass guitar and double bass (a bit of a fetish for me haha) is a very strong point of these IEM's.

@@AudioLevels Thanks for this. Yes, I feel the same about mid bass.Maybe I just spent too long with the Shure se846 (7 years) which are almost perfect for mid bass. Can you recommend any iem around the $200 mark that would satisfy my mid bass craving, without deteriorating the mods and highs? Ikko maybe or Isn neo5?

If moneys no object oh10. Oh10 are almost double the price of the legato. However the Legato are still going to drive hard in the bass just the refinement from the BA drivers in the OH10 add another dimension to the mids.
