A little Diamond file....HK Diamond (Hong Kong Diamond manufacturing on eBay has a $7 dollar little diamond file that’s great for tuning up your saw blade teeth to keep your chopsaw cutting awesome and the 3 files kit 50,150,300 for a chainsaw chain will absolutely revolutionize your chainsaw chain sharpening system! Because it’s a Diamond you can use a little sawing motion and that allows you to lock your wrist so sharpening your chainsaw chain is awesome! The 150 makes quick work of a dull tooth and the 300 finish on every tank of fuel is perfect! Having a 50 to reshape a rocked tooth is pretty awesome as well...they are really great for lots of other small sharpening needs as well! Best $15 bucks I’ve ever spent!!!

Can’t wait to watch the bundler work! My homemade bundler doesn’t stretch the wrap tight enough. The bundles become loose over time. I also cut my wood to 15 inches to make sure they fit in the basket. I use my chainsaw sheath with a 15 inch line sharpied on it to know where to make the chalk marks. Perfect length ever time.

Loved the little guy in the ear coverings. That Axis is a great splitter. Even though you use the cut off pieces, it would seem logical to have a better marker system on your splitter. Given the extra time, energy and electricity to recut them, it would benefit you in the long haul. Enjoy watching the videos and as someone who grew up on a farm many, many yrs ago, have carried in quite a bit of wood.

Goodness having the sound pick up in the garage really messed with the sound synching in the beginning of the video Adam. Nice work with the splitting and bundling, time to start marking the length to cut on the logs and "cut out" that extra step before bundling. Great video, thumbs up.
@Luzster40

Switch your loose basket with your saw for more efficiency. You're doubling your steps with your current setup. If you switched their places, you would work in a clockwise pattern; loose at 12, cut at 3, bundle at 6, stack bundles at 9. The way you have it, you go to 3, then 12, then 6, then 9. Great content though.

If the length of cut is important, though it might take a bit of time, while the logs are in the air held by the grappler, mark the lengths before starting to saw. You could even have someone mark them while the logs are in a pile before picking them up.

Morning Adam. Thanks for including a cameo with the family - those little ear muffs were great! LOL! I can't remember what you use for marking your lengths but have you tried a Mingo Marker? I know you will often have off-cuts on the ends of logs but perhaps after you Mingo the log, throw the off/end cuts off into a separate pile so you know you always have your 16" lengths in the pallet. Just a thought, that's all. Have a good weekend and thanks again - the little guy is growing fast!

One tip you may (hopefully) find useful in bundling and in getting the same size is using a bandsaw. Put the woo. In the bundler , on side on the bundle will all be nice. The other side is all random lengths. Set up a stop on the nice side and cut off the random lengths on the other side. That will greatly speed up production. Besides the band saw is WAYYYY faster cutting off the “off cuts” You will need a pretty big machine maybe a 16” throat? Check around you may find one used that will work wonderfully. Rock out my man!

Hi Adam, it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I am so envious of the range of equipment available to you folks across the pond and the lighter legislation that you have to contend with. In Europe, a vertical splitter must require 2 hands to operate the blade, which cannot end closer than an inch or so from the table, an absolute nightmare when dealing with stringy soft woods. I was surprised that you split your logs one piece one at a time. With logs that size, a blade that long and with abundant power I would have thought you would be splitting 2 or 3 pieces each time, thereby reducing your splitting time. Also, is there no way you couldn't organise your workflow so that the pieces go straight from the log splitting table to the bundler, thereby cutting out a entire handling process. Any excess could go up the conveyor and be handled as at present. I realise power supply might be an issue but your manual bundler, redesigned to provide the tension required, could be a solution. An obvious way to get logs the perfect length is to bolt a threaded bar to the chainbar to enable you determine where to make your cuts - an old trick but one that costs you no time whatsoever. When I am log splitting I constantly think of how to work smarter and reduce the number of times I have to handle each individual piece of wood. Warmest Greetings from the Emerald Isle - I enjoy your videos and the insight they give into a way of life that is hard for us folk here to imagine.
@TheReal1953
@TheReal1953 3 года назад
I was in the cord wood business back in the 70's. The old timers always said that each time you handled the wood you lose money. So splitting to kindling size, wrapping and stacking in those baskets is a LOT of hand operations. I'm assuming that the end product is expensive enough to justify all the extra handling. We had a brief stint where we hand trucked wood bundles up in condo elevators in Aspen. Money was great....but the logistics of getting permission and arranging times was a nightmare. We found then that we could go up in the woods, cuts rounds, load in a big dump trailer, go to the firewood lots, dump & get paid.....was the best money. But with all these tree cutting services and wood available, maybe a guy can come out.

I loved that movie! Congratulations “Rooster!”!!! Hey there buddy... a little fiberglass driveway marker from Snonplowing cut down and two part epoxied onto the magnetic from a scrap yard speaker magnetic cut to 16” will attach to the nose of the chainsaw bar and you tap the log getting perfect length wood they I pop it off and drop it down a hammer loop I added to the back of my belt with the pouch for a couple wedges... you always want a couple wedges and you also will love saving a magnetic from the trash or a $5 dollar set of yard sale speakers! Little dab of epoxy and then a trim to the correct size! You will want to make 3 or 4 because every freakin friend and family member you ever show off your beautiful invention...well they are definitely going to be eyeballing your’s so might as well have several to share on Christmas morning... LMFFAO! A flat 2” magnetic that’s just small enough to get great contact but not hit the chain is perfect for me...I’d definitely take a minute to measure your nose and keep that in your hand while magnetic shopping! My buddy cut a magnetic into 4 pieces and approached the whole fitting the tip problem that way... he’s now got 2 just for sharing and believe me... once you pop it off and cut several logs that you have measured pretty accurately and look at your perfect length firewood... you will use it every time you are “Buckin!” Firewood!!!👍😁

how many pieces do get to a bundle
@HometownAcres

It depends on the size of the pieces. Usually 6 large pieces. 10 small pieces in a bundle

2 bits of advice. First you need a label to put on those bundles so that people recognize your brand as the brand they like/want to buy. Second, the new bundler looks great, but you should put a link to it in the description. Enjoyed the video as always. Ok just went to brute force's web page, their demo video for the wrapper is awful, please get with those folks and make a better video for them. Watching their video actually made me less interested in buying one, this could be a real opportunity for you.
