I would rather deal with the spiders. LMAO 6 Flags is pathetic. you know what we are getting in Dallas/Fort Worth this year? An over Sized Super Loop found at every fair, carnival, and mall parking lot festival in the country. LAME! Just went to Cedar Point this past summer. Every last one of those coasters smashed every 6 Flags Coaster into the ground and grinded it like a cockroach. Even their smallest coasters kicked 6 Flags into the dust. Sorry, truth lives. Ill deal with the spiders. It beats chewed gum stuck to everything at 6 Flags and disgusting piss covered floors in the bathrooms. Not to mention Cedar Point has its OWN resort Hotel Properties, a beach, a water Park, A boating marina.... the park is spotless and well kept. There is no comparison. Cedar Point/Fair BUILDS they do not CLONE. That is the difference. Each and every one of their rides and coasters are ORIGINAL and designed in a unique way. Not designed put into pieces, and shipped off to every park in the country, re painted, and re named. Cedar Point wins with us EVERY TIME. Or any Cedar Fair Park for that matter. I would rather fly up to Cedar Point than to drive 2 miles up the highway to our 6 Flags in Dallas. How sad is that? We have been to all the 6 Flags parks in the US. I just do not see it. Cedar Point by far is the BEST. They are after all "The Rollercoaster Capital of the World" and they have been for decades. No 6 Flags park has taken that title from them. And I do not believe they every will because 6 Flags is too cheap to spend what Cedar Fair does when they build a coaster. Just sayin....

And before we go into the Kingda Ka conversation all that was... It was an easy effortless way for 6 Flags to COPY THE COMPETITION by 29 feet to build the EXACT same thing as Top Thrill Dragster and throw in a hill at the end. Instead of being ORIGINAL and coming up with something of their OWN to defeat the competition they COPIED them almost exactly. A cowardly way to steal the tallest record from Cedar Point. But I am willing to bet Cedar Fair has something up their sleeves for the 150th anniversary coming in 2020. I have a feeling CP will be taking that title back and taking it back severely.

It probably doesn't have a name because of hurricane Harvey...... Six Flags has the name Hurricane Force 5 trademarked, but it would be in very bad taste to build a ride like that now.

zoom zoom103 I think the better word to use is amusement park. Six Flags does NOT feel like a theme park. The only theming at Six Flags is the names of the coasters. When people say theme park, I think Disney, Universal, SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, LEGOLAND, Warner Bros. Movie World. You know the parks that tourists go to for an exclusive themed experience and not just for generic thrill coasters and carnival rides.

I really hope as CGA starts to grow it will cause Discovery kingdom to add more additions and eventually become a more renown Six flags park. I'm really excited to see these two park go head to head and try to one up each other as the years go by

Plus, it sickens me when people call a chain crappy for adding akin rides to parks, and while that is true, it diversifies their line-up and helps each individual park, as Jaiden stated. Take Magic Mountain, for example. Getting Justice League last year improved family rides, while their addition of Crazanity helps with their lackluster flat ride collection. While some parks at cedar fair focus too much on some aspects, like Cedar Point. Getting 4 roller coasters in the span of 6 years seems overkill, as it leaves some parks run dry.

casey helm If you are referring to Steel Vengeance, Valravn, Rougarou, and Gatekeeper as "getting" Then I would point out that they lost Wildcat, Disaster Transport, Mantis and Mean Streak over the past seven years. All these parks have to make tough decisions when they try to upgrade rider experience. Some may argue that Six Flags has had the upper hand by being first with the RMC I-box conversions, but Cedar Fair will unveil two of they're own next year. Both of there's will be longer than there originals while all the Six Flags models went shorter. I think what it boils down to for many people is execution. Cedar Fair tries to maximize quality with every dollar spent, paying close attention to detail from infrastructure to rides. Meanwhile, Six Flags seems to paint with broader strokes, touching more but truly covering less.

Elijah Elijah No Six Flags 2018 > Cedar Fair 2018. The only Six Flags park that missed out on a good addition was America. I think most of these rides were needed- La Ronde got some nice family rides, St. Louis got a massive water slide, Great America got a new flat ride, Great Escape got a cool and unique family ride, Great Adventure and Over Texas got World's Firsts along with Discovery Kingdom (SFDK might not have needed a Skywarp, especially considering they got a massive frisbee this year... but oh well, they're getting spoiled now), Magic Mountain got a MUCH NEEDED flat ride- honestly, a coaster is the last thing I was hoping for-, Fiesta Texas got a coaster which IMO should have gone to America or St. Louis but I think those 2 will get a clone of this in 2019, Over Georgia got their first NEW coaster in 7 whole years, Mexico got a new coaster even though they should've waited like a year or two longer for it and gave it to St. Louis/America. But my point being, Cedar Fair spent nearly ALL the money on their 4 new coasters and just gave all the other parks the scraps, with the exception of Valleyfair and Canada's Wonderland. WoF got Nordic Chaser (Beting my bottom dollar it's a clone of Flying Canoes), a small family ride. Carowinds got a Planet Snoopy revamp (Which I was predicting that would happen), and Kings Island, Dorney Park AND Michigan's Adventure got NOTHING (or close to). You just can't say that Cedar Fair 2018 was better just because they added four new coasters; honestly, RailBlazer was disappointing and Hangtime was a little bit too. But Six Flags actually gave nearly all their parks something they needed- whether it be a new coaster (SFOG, SFFT, SFM) a new thrilling flat ride (SFDK, SFMM, SFOT, SFGADV), or just a water park expansion (SFSTL). For the most part Cedar Fair just put minimal cash into all their other parks with the exception of the 4 that got coasters. Six Flags, however, spread the money and actually gave the parks what they generally needed. So really Six Flags 2018 is better than Cedar Fair 2018, by a long shot.

That's what I'm saying. Almost everyone seems blind to the fact that outside of the 4 new roller coasters in Cedar Fair, they don't see what else is going on, or rather, what isn't. It's like someone was sheltered to watching seasons 1-3 of SpongeBob, while unaware of the crap in later seasons (honestly, knowing is a fate worse than death). But still, you are right Kw6s. Cedar Fair did invest in bulk to their known parks, including the spoiled Cedar Point (I'll say that those investments are phenomenal), while the other Six Flags parks had evenly-split investments.

casey helm I am aware about the flat rides, yes we know that six flags did an overall better job at evenly distributing rides. But what I am saying is next year I would be more interested in visiting the 3 cedar point parks than six flags one based off of new attractions I mean it depends on your perspective. Me personally I only make a few trips a year of parks outside of my driving range so new rides factors into it. And cedar far did get new flat rides to all of there parks except Michigan adventure. Not as good as six flags but as far as the top goes I would rather ride hangtime,and the two rmc rather than the two six flags coasters so I guess it really depends. Cedar point is more top heavy and six flags is more evenly spread. My home park is six flags over Georgia and I personally like Carowinds better even though it's an extra 3 hours away. I will still visit but I understand everyone's points.

Well.....Magic Mountain was designed to be the flagship roller coaster park to compete with Cedar Point so it's pretty fair that people would anticipate it receive more coasters especially when Cedar Point is constantly getting new coasters including the new Steel Vengeance RMC coaster expected to come out in the near future. If you want flat rides you have one of the best parks around called Disneyland, sure they aren't all "thrill rides" but hey you have nothing to complain about when you have 2 of the best amusement parks in all of the US not far from each other. All we have in the Bay Area is CGA and SFDK which are entry-mid level thrill and coaster attractions.

Zero-G-Worx that's true and they do claim to be the "thrill capital of the world" so I can understand the disappointment. I suppose you can't please everyone, especially within the coaster community haha. Let's hope Magic Mountain doesn't lose its identity. Hopefully they add a major coaster in the coming years.

2021 is SFMM 50th anniversary. It could be they are intelligently conserving resources for a major announcement for that year.

Magic Mountain does not need flat rides. No one that complains about Magic Moutains lack of flats is even a regular visitor to Magic Moutain. They are Cedar Park or fan boys from other parks who are just jealous that Magic Moutain has so many roller coasters and puts their home parks in the dust so they pick the most mundane thing to complain about which is lack of flat rides.at.a.rollercoaster. park.?? Think about how ridiculous that sounds to people who are above average intelligence and apply objectivity. I like dark rides as much as the next person and what makes socal so great theres the mouse down the street where I can ride all the dark rides I want. If I want flat rides there's knotts 15 minutes away from the Disney. Disney owns dark rides. Magic own rollercoasters. And knotts is somewhere in between with their flats. So cal natives have options all within about an hour of eachother so why would anyone from here be complaining about the lack of flats rides at Magic Mountain? TOO many roller coasters is not a legitimate complaint at an amusepark - yet we hear it all the time from the "enthusiasts" who always find a way to bash MM. Now that we have a flat ride lets see what excuse Cedar Point and other jealous fan boys come up with next to rank down MM: "There's too many coasters in the color white at Magic Mountain so we are deducting a few points once they add mustard color coaster then the park will be complete therefore for another consecutive year CEDAR Point wins again".

Oh please, La Ronde, Great Escape-one's falling apart and the other gets some random $5 ride a year. Discovery Kingdom is so overrated. Six Flags America never gets super crowded and it's clean, has a lot of fun rides. It's main issue is lack of B&M coasters, and when they got one (hand me down or not, Apocalypse) they should've made it a floorless. Can't hold the Vekoma SLC against it given the fact plently of others have them. It's got a solid GCI, a solid premiere launch coaster, a intamin mega coaster, a regular woodie, and the very fun intense Batwing, plus a family spinning coaster. Yeah, it could definitely use some new additions. A harley quinn free spin perhaps, a zamperla giant discovery, RMC "Wild One" NOT ROAR. I wish they'd get a solid B&M but I doubt that'll ever happen.
