Used to have Ford Focus as private vehicle, it had DAB radio which I loved. It got sold when I purchased the previous Custom in 2016 but no DAB. Liking the looks of the face lifted model. Start saving them pennies then!
Bought a new Transit Custom, L2 H2, 170ps Limited, picking it up today,...scrapping my 2011 L1 H2 Trend, with 520,000 miles on the clock, amazing van! ( Thanks to the Guys ‘n’ Gals at Trust Ford, Hayes, Middlesex) This new one has a lot to live up to!
We run a small fleet of transits for delivery work. This week we had GPS trackers fitted to our vehicles. Now the working day happens in slow motion😀 Seriously though one thing that rarely gets mentioned is how comfortable Transits are. I drive around 200 miles per day in all variants and I find them all comfortable. Good sound system too.
200 miles a day 😱😱😱. I do 10. Yeah it’s true they are comfy. The first custom wasn’t as comfy if I remember correctly. The mk7 transits were probably the most comfortable. The 06-14 reg transits
@@GregsMowing it's one of the joys of living and working in rural Wales. Today I did 180 miles in a Transit Luton. It only involved 7 drops. And that's a pretty average day for us. I love my job.
Good video thanks. At 10.10 one of those apertures is for the alarm motion detector and the other is the microphone. I daily drive a Custom Sport 8 seater, it's an awesome bus.
Thanks for the tour.I habe been given this Transit as replacement van for a while and I have mixed feelings. I have always operated manual gearbox and automatic is a little "jumpy" when pulling off. Also you can not see kerbs when parking in those small mirrors which makes fitting in parking slots difficult. Those radar sensors interrupt radio when someone behind you is too close.Radio and speakers is a bit sh..(low power output )but I suppose most of van offer cheap radio kits.
Just got mine but may I ask, do you find the cab a little noisy at idle? Like a frequency and vibration you can feel? Even the steering wheel vibrates at idle. It’s not massive but noticeable. Appreciate your opinion. Cheers!
to be honest I've been driving my custom since November and i'm used to whatever noises it makes, wouldn't say the cab was/is noisy on tickover, definitely not to the extent like the mk6 and mk7 transits did. If I find any difference driving today ill report back. thanks for watching
You are "missing" the bigger color screen between the dails, right? Is it possible to order the van with automatic ac (you set a temperature number and it holds it).
Gregs Mowing The screen between your speedometer and revcounter. I have the old 2016 version and I could order it with a bigger color screen. See my video on my "channel". I like the automatic ac better. It's on every car in every price class nowadays but not in vans.
pelleper you can order that screen for this. But this is the standard. I like the black and white. Not sure why you call it a panther. I know practically everything you set at say 17deg but I’m happy with having it on the coldest setting and adjusting it accordingly. As I’ve used transits for years I am used to and prefer the hot or cold adjustment with everything between.
Just been given a new 2018 plate... hope they've sorted out the electrics as my previous one was constantly showing various engine management lights such as "service due soon" despite only being serviced the week before. Technicians said there were no actual engine issues, but more to do with dashboard display warning going off randomly! Nightmare!
James Ritchie I had the precious limited custom. Only problem I had was the Bluetooth didn’t work. Got fixed. I think any vehicle with electrics can and probably will go wrong. Doesn’t matter what brand. Keep the vehicles in the warranty and all should be fine. Seen a few new ones and they really do stand out
Thanks for reply Greg... I also have the plastic load liner floor in cargo area, but will be getting the floor ply lined as these plastic floors are impractical and any items not strapped securely slides the entire length of the van when moving off from stationary. Don't really know why Ford install these as they'd only be useful to builders carrying bricks and rubble! Lol
James Ritchie I have ply in my van and everything moves in that. I prefer the plastic as if it gets wet it doesn’t rot like ply. Can always buy ratchet straps
Gregs Mowing like the van, possibly on my bucket list this year to purchase, im a window cleaner, will the plastic floor be enough to waterproof it in case of leaks etc to save protectakoting it?
Very nice van only thing I don’t like is the touch screen tablet it would look better if it blended into the dashboard in my opinion but everyone’s taste differs
Brendan Brady fan I agree. However it seems to be fords design throughout the range of vehicles. Thanks for watching and commenting. Please check out my other content.
mcmcolm I’ve got a mk8 transit. 17 reg and the custom I had all had heated screens and were panel vans like the one in the video and when you press heated windscreen it did the mirrors also. Oh well. Thanks for watching.
Annoys me how they’ve got rid of the little storage compartment above the steering wheel. Mines got the actual cover storage which is handy to keep things out of sight. Why they’ve got rid of the cover lid is beyond me... it’s now all open for people see
12988Jake yep I agree it’s a shame. Only thing I can think of is keep stuff in the door panels as there is so much room. I prefer the lid as before. Thank you for watching.
Those seats don’t look like they would flatter a middle aged tradesman riddled with piles, some mornings its like having a fucking bunch of grapes hanging out the back of your poop shoot, try hanging doors with that shit going on behind you, need more comfortable seats in my humble
Derek Moore well I have been running one for nearly year and so far no problem. Do hear about the exhaust filter getting clogged but that’s not really the engines fault. Need to do long fast journeys. What problems have you heard?
Mainly pistons giving trouble . A mate of mine sells Ford's and he told me to wait 12 -18 months before I change my transit which has the 2.2 psa engine. He was saying a high percentage of the 2 litre engined transits he's sold are breaking down after only a few weeks with some needing a new engine Which ARE like hens teeth because of the ongoing issues.
After using VW transporters for the last eight years the company I work for changed to ford, I have now driven 15000 miles in a Transit and can’t say I like it, security is crap and on this one it looks like the same shitty door lock all you need is a pair of grips so I hope he has good insurance, the split side door windows are bad you cannot drop the window to clear water off them to to see the mirrors better and the mirrors get dirty quite quick, Interior is cheap plastic that marks easy. And when you go to sell it the value is nowhere near as good as a T5
M Jiles fair enough. I drove a transporter once and hated the driving position. The transit has a better position in my opinion. I agree with the double window stuff and yes the locks are awful. Ford keep releasing software updates but can’t be bothered to design a better one. A lot of people get a hykee lock put on. If a thief is keen I doubt any lock will prevent them. The VW do hold their value but if people. Like myself. Do a finance lease deal and change after a few years at a time I’m not sure it makes much difference. For sure the VW vans are a lot more a month and this makes a difference for everyone.
I have had mine just over six months and have a different lock fitted to the door on mine - I am 6ft and in the T5 we had a different bulkhead fitted that gave us better leg room, in the two T5 I had I did 180,000 and 170,000 miles The company I work purchase their vans outright and I do agree if leasing the finances are different, they do use a lot of AdBlue I have put 40L in so far and it's almost empty again in 15,000 and it has just flashed up it needs an oil change as well, The screen in yours is a lot better than the awful tiny screen in mine for reverse camera
ugly vans since the mark 7. i still have my mark 7 with only 100 k on clock . iv changed the disks all round and serviced more than needed. fuck this new piece of cheap shit
