I’ll purchase a handful of those overhead lights next time you remove them. I could use the spares.

What's the purpose of that foam block that you trim back? Does it need to be there? Great video. Thanks.

I have two wires running into a small plastic item on the ceiling beam behind the beam that has the cargo lights. In talking with the Ford dealership, they mentioned that it was part of the keyless proximity system (Ford Part 15K603). Have you come across this in your van builds? Is it okay to build the ceiling over it, or must it be moved?

Can you share a link to the 8mm rivnuts do you use? There are so many options out there I want to make sure I grab good quality ones that have been tried and tested by the experts. Thanks for all the great content!

Thanks for your videos, extremely informative. If you were going to put tongue and groove boards on your ceiling would you still frame ceiling like this? How bout 1/4 inch plywood? Thanks again.

I fir the roof like we will show in an upcoming video.(basically 1/4” strips front to back bridging roof joists). I attach my planks to a 1/4 birch substrate. I do 3 panels for a 148LB and 4 for an extended. If you line up your planks you don’t have to do trim strips between panels (but we usually get something off do we do trim strips to cover seams) . Doing it this way is much easier to install and do any maintenance in the future if needed. The front of the van has a LOT of curve so go as thin as possible.

Hey Matt, do you have any preferred configuration when ordering a new transit? beyond high roof and extended or not, which are personal choices, is there any list of things we should know before hitting the ford dealership? engine, batteries, alternators, things like that. can we order them with factory installed swivel seats? for a 'regular' build with batteries, fresh/grey water tanks etc', do you thing we need a dually, or single wheel is enough? thanks!

How did your ordering go for deliv time and what you missed? I find its lots of decisions to be made, adding up to $70k +, all dependent on your future uses that will change over time...

My ADHD just slipped a massive notch when you slammed that metal tool against brand new paint. Sort of like those RU-vid chefs using metal utensils with no stick pans lol. Put some backing under that thing bro, no dents too. But also thank you so much for your awesome incredibly detailed build tips.

Hey Adam, what is the difference between the rivnuts you're mentioning in this video? You mention a "1/4 20" rivnut for the side panel and an 8mm rivnut for ceiling and to match the factory welded ones on the transit.
@AVCRIG
@AVCRIG Год назад
The 1/4-20 are smaller and fit the factory holes. The 8mm are larger and we add them to the ceiling. You can put in whatever you like. I just prefer to have one set of hardware (or 2 I guess with the 1/4-20)

I'm considering buying a Ford Transit and using your products. Is this the tall or medium height van? I'm 5'9"" without shoes.
@AVCRIG
@AVCRIG Год назад
You would fit in either. I think HR is better for a camper. MR is better for a daily driver that also goes camping. I currently drive a MR, but I want more room for storage and my family. Switching up to a HR.

@@AVCRIG Thanks. Is the one shown in the video the high roof? I don't believe that detail is mentioned.

1/4 inch Baltic birch is good for the furring strip?

Yes. Our ceiling isn’t too heavy and we only hang cabinets from unistrut.
