I appreciate that! I do feel best when it's exactly as you say, an extension of my body. There are definitely times where I feel uncomfortable up there, and although others might notice it, I feel like I do.

Actually, I should give some credit to LP from Yellowcard, as I pretty much took that fill from him, and literally only started doing it because Ryan from Yellowcard was touring with us at the time as our second guitarist, and I spent an entire tour seeing if he would notice that I threw that in. A few shows before the end of the tour, I finally had to tell him about the fill because he had never noticed hahaha. But if you look, I'm pretty positive that I look to my right (where he would be setup) right as I'm about to do the fill to see if he's paying attention. He probably wasn't.

@@CyrusBolooki lol it's good for meme haha seriously i was very happy when ryan tour with you guys. i love LP and also one of the beast drummers out there. i also watched you playing drums with Yellowcard, i think it was ocean's ave. and you nailed it! i always watch you play with NFG and when i saw you playing with Goldfinger and Yellowcard, you really exceeded my expectations. i really love how clean you play and how well you adapt with other bands. you play as how their respective drummers played their songs. it's like you fit in every piece of every puzzle.

Great question...I believe I wrote this shortly after I joined the band, but although the riff was the same, the "song" I had tried to write around it basically consisted of the riff over and over, with no changes. Glad that didn't stay that way!

@@TheSalPic I've done it for a pretty long time, but definitely not at the beginning. Probably started around 2002 because around that time I added a floor tom on my left (it was the "in" thing to do back then) and I started trying to play all of my stuff with as much open-handed beats or at least little accents with my right hand on my snare and cymbal on my left as possible. Hit or Miss was the song that had the easiest beat to pull off open handed and it just stuck I guess.
