This song has to be one of the BEST songs to lead off an album ever! I can't tell you how many times I would slip this CD into my car stereo back in 2002-03...EAGERLY anticipating the explosion of awesomeness that is the opening guitar riff with the drums! The next 30+ minutes would be spent shouting EVERY song at the top of my lungs while driving around in the hot Sacramento summers. GOOD TIMES!
Did anyone else never listen to the end of the cd till they fell asleep with the CD on just to be woken up after ten minutes of no sound to them saying someone's in your houseeee
Saying there underrated is shaming the band more then congratulating them ... They were all over mtv early 2000s. There one of the pioneers of pop punk.
When people say New Found Glory are shit and never made an impact to Pop Punk what about the two massive bands All Time Low and The Story So Far. Two bands that got their band names from New Found Glory's songs. These guys along with blink-182, green day, sum 41, good charlotte etc are the Pop Punk Kings. Pop Punks Not Dead!
+Kynan's Music Whoever says that is an idiot HAHAHAHA TSSF just BARELY started getting big hahahaha HOW could they have an impact on pop punk... lol you right dude, pop punk isn't dead, never will be haha
+Kynan's Music Good Charlotte was only genuine pop punk for their first two albums. Self-titled in 2000 and Young and the Hopeless in 2002. Beyond that they abandoned pop punk. Blink 182 sort of did the same beyond 2003. Enema will always be the gold standard in pop punk, not least because the songs tell an accurate story of adolescent male life at the time it was released in 1999. And young males can relate today as well, which is what makes it timeless.
+Kynan's Music Perhaps. But I feel none of these bands could keep their great sound from the 1999-2003 era. Some sold out to changing trends in the music industry. Granted, no genre of music can remain on top forever. I mean that's exactly what happened to glam metal (i.e. hair metal). It was on top from 1986 until 1991 (GNR, Motley, Cinderella, Skid Row, Poison, etc.) Grunge just exploded because of a monumental shift in youth culture. Grunge, led to post-grunge in the mid-1990s, and then the dominance of pop-punk from 1999. Pop punk is not dead, but it's on life support I'm afraid to say. Young people have terrible taste in music these days.
When I think back to my life in the early 2000's, Sticks and Stones and Catalyst are automatically playing in the background. Those albums literally defined a period of my life, I was in my early 20's. Such good times.
See there is moar than just rap, hip hop, pop, and bieber with no purpose to be on the radio, this is the real heart and soul of music. Punk Rock 4 Life No Doudt. When I'm 50 I'll still listen to all these band like NFG, Greenday, and The Romanos
As an old pop punk fan I love these "we toured all over the world and here's the proof" music videos. These days it's easier to just post stuff on social media and international gigs are much more rare after covid anyways. Don't get me wrong, I still love this and yeah I know I'm old
I've always loved pop punk and thought blink were my fav but every time i hear ANY NFG track i feel 16 again and that I'm on top of the world doing dumb stupid awesome stuff with my friends....then i remember I'm nearly 27 and have a new born baby who i must now pass this epic music onto
Do you ever listen to a song for the first time in forever and remember everything you felt when you were playing the CD over and over? Takes me back to my parents letting me buy 1 CD before a road trip and i got this and reminiscing about the girl from summer camp the whole trip while listening to this album
Lyrics I'm Sick of Smiling And so is my jaw Can't you see my front is crumbling down? I'm sick of being someone I'm not Please get me out of this spot I'm sick of clapping When I know I can do it better for myself I'm sick of waiting Sick of all these words that will never matter I'll wire these nerves together Hoping for a chance to think on time And I'm tracing over your letter To see if your intentions are as good as mine But you're getting worse I swear it It's hard to prove you're an understatement You're getting worse and I know That you'll be calling me again I'm done with everything That had to do with you Don't worry your pictures are already burned I'm done with new friends Don't sell yourself short You'll lose it in the end I can't help how I feel
This song and this album is what taught me drums. Played guitar all my life. Dad worked at a studio in the middle of the night and I’d go with him and sneak into the drum booth with their expensive headphones and play this album until I got it perfect.
Sticks and Stones. Fucking fantastic show on friday, a real way to get me in the festival mood. Friday was definitely the best Reading day. Had the crowd cheering and jumping. Damn fucking extraordinary! One of the reasons I am so glad I didn't back out of going to the festival.
I just found out about these guys, & I've fallen in love with them. So far, every one of their songs is about their name; a story that ends with the protaginist gaining New Found Glory.
Saw them at the Grand Ballroom in SanFran in 2009, was something I will remember for the rest of my life. 17 years old. Now I'm working 6 days a week, have a son, these days are long gone. boy the memories I will keep
I didn't know this band until two weeks ago and now i can't stop listening their songs and i listen them all the time! I just hope they come to Argentina some day soon!
the pop punks not dead tour was amazing last night in philly!!!!! sold out show just shows that pop punk really isnt dead, these are all the real musicians in the world
Jordan recorded my voice-mail one time after a show. Good God, the amount of times my phone would ring, only for the person calling to say "Why did you answer?! I wanted to hear the voice-mail!" Lol.
Someone last night played this on the jukebox at the bar I was in. For some reason here I am a 31 year old with a beer and cigarette in my hand thinking about me being 13 hearing this totally stress free, sober, and innocent lol i felt so guilty all of a sudden.
I LOVE this video. Being a drummer at heart I remember as a kid thinking how cool he looks during the half time break after the second chorus.. he’s beating the FUCK outta that cymbal.. such good memories. Goosebumps. 💙🎵
Jill St. Clair Cyrus literally taught me how to play the drums thru cd. No lie I’ve literally listened to this song and every other classic NFG track which is many, a thousand times a piece as a conservative guesstimate
Come May, I'll be seeing them perform Sticks & Stones AND Catalyst in their entirety... Met these guys a couple times, but one that stands out is last year's warped tour. Ian was watching me pretty much the entire set (I was up at the barricade) and he was egging me on and we just sort of played well off of each other, it was great. At the end of the show, he threw me his pick and I caught it, and found it to be an odd sort of specimen, ridges cut into it (common for a bass player)? Anyway, I got to meet them a couple hours later and he shook my hand and said "Good catch!" Great day, man
NFG was one of my favorite band and now im playing in the band ''This is Awesome'' and make me think about when i was 13 years old and i was watching video from all that kind of band !!! life is good
Man I wish I was touring in a band with my friends and stuff back in those days. Sure your probably thinking its not all fun there's alot of hard work that goes into it. But I just like the feeling of making music and making people happy with it. All the while getting to tour the country because theres nothing here where I live. Anad getting to cause some trouble along the way. ;)
Josh Martin, bassist for band The Wonder Years, has claimed that "Influentially, when you think about the top three pop-punk bands of all time...it’s Blink-182, New Found Glory and Green Day. At least in my brain, they’re on that level eternally.. i agrre with him New Found Glory reaaally Pop Punk,,they are perfect combination between Green day and Blink 182..
Eh.. UMMM NO. We the Kings weren't a part of The Sum 41, NFG, GC, Less Than Jake, Reel Bigh Fish, etc era.....How disgraceful for you to put We the Kings with the bands WE GREW UP WITH! NO NO NO!
I met this band 3 times before at srarland ballroom and 2 times at warped tour before the show this year and after the show this year I got to go on stage and backstage they were the nicest people ever I got a pic from Chad's guitar tech ian threw a pic at me that I bought and then at the meet and greet later after the set he handed a pic to me and it was a amazing I will never forgot warped tour best day ever 7/17/16
Man its destiny. In 2012 chad threw a pic and I was in the middle of the crowd and I just stared it down for so long and it hit me in the head. I respect that fool. Hes a great lyricist. Were both pisces guys thats sick as.fuck to thats prob why hes so nice lol
