I purchased a new RC crawler from eBay, and once again, I received a GEM. The listing was for a Rock Pirates RC Interceptor chassis built on an Element Enduro V2 builder's kit. After losing out on an RC4WD Marlin a few weeks prior, and since I had been wanting a Rock Pirates rig for quite some time I decided to go for it. Thanks to Logan (West Desert Wheeler) for creating a lot of great Rock Pirates content; your videos locked me in to the Interceptor chassis. Steve from Rock Pirates RC has been a tremendous help with the initial setup and tweaks to keep this crawler LCG (low center of gravity). Link below! Also check out Shrink RC for custom body mounts!! The build was going to be basic (to start). It came with the chassis, axles, skid, RP servo mount, RP hardline bed, links, and metal skids. I already had an extra RC4WD motor, a Reedy ESC, wheels, tires, and a 9iMod servo, so this was going to be a relatively easy project to complete. I really like the RC4WD Toyota hard bodies, so I purchased a cab only with all of the appropriate bits and bobs to finish it off.
I had a great time with this build, especially weathering the paint and completing the look with the final accessories. I hope you enjoy Part 1!! Stay tuned for Part 2!!
