I always loved gate guardians design but hated how frustrating it was to summon back in the day. Hopefully this will breathe new life into gate guardian!

I just had an opponent pull off a Gate Guardian Combined on me in ranked. Thankfully, I was in possession of the one thing that can defeat it: TWO Gate Guardians. 😂

That targeting protection effect on Combined can be pretty annoying, but it's the double Spell negation from WW that usually adds challenge to dealing with the deck. You really want to engine in either Kashtira or Branded(maybe both if you're a madman) to make the most of the things. And ALWAYS play the Magicians' Souls package, the Field Spells can keep placing each time they're activated so getting extra draws off them + the Guardian piece the place for 2 draws adds a TON of consistency. You can even send off one of the traps that recovers banished pieces instead if you're in a bind. The Jirai Gumo Trap can be annoying to actually snipe things with unless you think to summon a Fusion in one of the EMZs and set the trap in front of the other one to disrupt an opponent's plays if they run any Links. If that's too much work or you're not seeing a lot of Link decks you can of course just not play it, it's not the most important part of the strategy.

I might try this monster. I’m a Dark Magician player, but I also have a few other decks. I’ve been having trouble trying to build a fire deck around the Hazy Flame monsters but have little success so far.

It suprises me that Sam doesn’t do any research on the cards when he built the deck. He just tossed every meta hand-trap and spell card he knew and said “this a gate guardian deck.” I built one yesterday off of the old retrains and some unknown cards that work with it. If Sam had taken the time of day, he would’ve found out that Gate Gaurdian had another variant called Dark Gaurdian which was a 3800 uneffected beat stick.

They should make new support/ redo perfectly ultimate great moth next

doesnt this combo with card effects that use mons in the spell/trap zone like eka for example? this is the first time i saw sam basically throw fenrir away im just dble checking here he had all three guardians in hand then h shuffled them back in the deck to just make more combos?

I had a dude try to use this monster on me with my mess around deck. Did not go well for him though.

This comment is not meant to be insulting. Sam is really funny and I enjoy his videos. That being said, turn 0 of the first game took 6.5 minutes to complete and it was the deciding turn of the duel. The opponent had literally 0 input in the entire duel. The discussion concerning the Meta of this game is quite long, so I'm not going to open it. What I want to get at, is that I'd enjoy watching videos featuring more interactive decks, even if they are not as competitive. That's all, stay safe!

I have a real gate guardian deck so when MD added the new support I was stoked. I’ll stick to my way tho, no interest in taking 5 minute turns. It just becomes kaiju and nibiru bait

This deck remind me of playing matchmeth but the U link version and I tell you after 3 match it just feel like a drag just to set up your board. I rather play something simple than this.

I really like the detail of Labyrinth Wall Shadow only destroying monsters of less than 1600 ATK as that's the ATK of the og Wall Shadow. Shame they didn't retrain Labyrinth Wall or Magical Labyrinth though. I never really cared about the Gate Guardian, but I always liked the Labyrinth cards and how it affected the duel.

Was expecting a unique interaction/mechanic, got disappointed on the first duel(I my self would end my turn if I fought this deck)
