This also piques my interest in the possibility of creating a Viper EB that incorporates an internal brush barrel design. Such an EB would have "Tyco timing" since the brushes would be in the magnet (horizontal) plane and allow either type of arm to be run in any V1 chassis depending on which EB type is used. That would truly make the Viper/SG+ a "universal" chassis!

So basically it's a standard EB with mounts (plates) that hold "helper" coil springs assisting the brush arm springs and maintaining brush pressure against the comm even when the arms get hot so that their tension doesn't fall off as they heat up. Is that correct? Do the coil springs ever slip off of the brushes or is there some kind of dimple or protrusion on the back of the arm that keeps the coil spring centered on the brush arm?
