This was what I was looking for! Looks like this guitar has a tie to metal music, but I was really interested in it's clean tone. So thank you for making this!
So nice to see reviews of guitars where the guitarist just plays the guitar. Thanks for giving us a good example at what GRETSCH G5260 Electromatic Jet Baritone sounds like
Still love it. It's some so great clean tones for the type of stuff I was playing in this video, and if you pile on the gain it sounds gorgeously heavy, and absolutely sick. 😁
This is a great guitar! I just put 20-90 string gauge on it and tuned it to EAEADF# it holds the tune flawlessly. The problem is, with the distortion, the low end is very muddy. Which pedals should I use to make the low ends more tight so the notes are clear? Any ideas much appreciated! Btw, I have a high gain preamp, a joyo overdrive and a boss noise compressor.
At that level of low-end-ness, note and chord voicing choices play a huge part in un-muddying the sound, so try to make sure you're using only power chords or spread voicings. As for the signal chain, a mid pushed overdrive with some low-end roll-off will help, but it has to be an integrated approach. The human hear doesn't really like note "clusters" that low in the frequency range, so you'll have to tackle that from several sides at the same time. Which Joyo overdrive do you have btw?
@@PedalPlatform you're damn right, playing has a huge role in how the guitar sounds. It's definitely in the hand, but I'm sure there must be a pedal that can round up the sound and make it tight, I just can't seem to figure it out yet. I have a JOYO Vintage Overdrive, which is basically a tube screamer. I highly recommend it.
Cool, the tube screamer falls into the mid-pushed overdrive category I was going to suggest, but you might need something even more extreme... I'll have a play with my stuff and see where it gets me, the lowest I usually go with heavy distortion is B... 😁
