Love the 36! I was in the same boat w a walther .380 and kimber pro carry... I opted for the G30 SF. It felt only slightly wider than the 36 but 10+1 capacity! Can't beat .45 ACP for all around knock down... I certainly wouldn't want to go up agaisnt a 500lb black bear w .380!! Keep up the good work!!
Thansk for the tip, yeah I saw a whole show on penetratign power of different rounds and types...giood news is if the perp is hiding behind a car door it wont be a rpoblem, lol...not that a car door is much protection in the 1st place...
great choice on the new gun! my 36 has been my primary carry gun for almost a year now and I absolutely love it. just to let you know, that wear on the barrel hood is purely cosmetic. the color may come off, but the actual tennifer coating goes fairly deep into the metal and will still prevent rust and corrosion. its pretty awesome stuff.
no, the G36 is an exception beign that its a single stack magazine...I cna get a grip extention that holds 1 extra rouhgt but I dont want the grip longer...
ahhh interesting...once again thanks for the info, you know I have no idea why but I prefer 9mm or 45 over 40S&W? I nhever even shot a gun chambered in 40S&W lol I just dont like it, in ym mind I figure if you want power go with a highe bullet or if you want alot of rounds go with the 9mm...I dont know why its just wierd to me...Im sure as time goes on Ill try a 40S&W and love it, lol...
well a 357 has more power, but as a good friend of mine always said its not the bullet, its where ti goes...even a bb gun cna kill someone if you shoot the right spots, so no matter what you carry be good with it, thats all...shot placement is most important...now with 9mm you have alot more guns that carry alot more rounds, regular 357 rounds are usually going to be a revolver which limits you to 5,6, or 7 shots...usually...
Easy way to tell if a glock is a converted, versus a factory glock 18, is the glock 18 has a selector switch on the side of the slide. A converted glock 17 typically has a selector switch on the back of the slide.
no offense taken, guns like knives are a preffered thing, some like some modelsa for different reasosns, in ym opinon if I get a G19, to carry why not carry my full size 17 and get and extra 5 or 6 rounds with an extra inch or so of ahndle and barrel? If I wenty smaller I wanted to go alot smaller and up the caliber, BUT I am still lookign into a G26...
to be honest I still want a 26 for down the road, glocks are addicting, lol, but I figure again if I go small why not go with a large round, I think I obsessed over roudn count a little too much, 6 rounds shoudl be fine for imediate resposne, but I WILL be carryign a spare mag when I carry this gun as well...
A little more info. What shoots the price of full autos up is the Gun Control Acts of 1968 and 1986. The 1968 one prevents NFA weapons(full autos) from being imported into the U.S. The 1986 one prevents any new full autos from being registered for civilian ownership. I believe because of the timing, that any "Glock 18" that maybe legally transferable, would of had to have been a Glock 17 that was converted over here and registered before 1986...
Contratz Jeff! I have the G30SF and love it. Fantastic carry gun. Of course, with the .45acp, it's a little thick, but I like it that way. And it is surprisingly accurate. Excellent choice on your part!
Congrats on the new gun man. Can't wait to see a vid of you shooting it. I would get some Federal Hydra-Shok or some CorBon Powerball ammo for carry, IMO.
I woudl suggest going into a gun shop and not only askign ALOT of questions but also handling a bunch of different types to see what feels good...but dont buy one that day, go hiome and think about what you saw and held, then when you go back you will make a sound decision, if you have no idea where to start, Ill suggest a glock, only because they just dont break, lol when you pull the trigger they go bang, great guns, VERY little if any problems in their history...
Love the new glock!!! what made u not wount to get a 26? I love the 45 AUTO... but the 26 gives u 10 + 1 in 9x19 and u can put a +2 on it well its was a good deal I would have dun the same thing the guns u use for C.C are more important then the guns u just have for fun keep up the good work and enjoy the new GLOCK!!!!
Dude I don't know how you can stand these people continually asking why you carry a gun. When anybody asks me I tell them it's nobody's business but mine. You are a free man. You don't have to justify what you do.
there are too many what if scenarios tio list here, but I carry it just in case...why not, do you carry a spare tire in yoru car? just in case you get a flat, same thing..
Ooo that is nice! I am very interested to see a video of you shooting it, like you said that's a big bullet for such a small polymer gun. There's nothing like big 'ole .45 holes either! Just as a side note, did you look at any of the compact 1911's like the kimber ultra carry's nutnfancy has a review on? Of course they are much more expensive...
Good choice with the 36. You should get a good holster for it. Might be hard to find but check glocktalk's classifieds holster section. There maybe some people selling holsters for it. You can also try carrying it in your maxpedition versipak for now.
I do miss the gun, and it was a nice one, but when I traded it both guns were selling for the exact same price new, the 586 was very old and very used, but still retained its value...you do desperate thigns when you want new stuff and dont have any money, lol...
no permit required for open carry, permit required for concealed carry but is easy to obtain as long as your not a felon...I do have a permit and choose to CC most of the time...
thats true, but in most cases you onyl need one decent placed shot with a 45, where as it has been provenj it cna take a few with a 9mm IF your not hittign vital areas dead on...
I have a GLOCK 30SF and I love it. Wouldnt trade it for anything... well almost anything. You just cant beat the feel of shooting a .45. I also have a kimber pro carry II which I also love, but for carry I like the glock because I'm not worried about holster wear, it cant get any uglier, but they are just such awsome and reliable guns. I do like the feel of the 36 though
ANY chance no matter how low is reason enough, like I said we prepare for other "problems" in our life what makes this any different? the problem is the negative press guns in general get, to me a gun is no different than a pair of scissors, both can kill someone if your reckless in handling them...
Depends on what you need it for.. Sometimes it's just easier to conceal the kel-tec and nothing else. I carry it as a main carry piece sometimes with no hesitation.
I was seriously looking into gettign a 29 for ym next glkock, but I looked into the 10mm round alot and decided not too only because the rounds are hard to find and expensive...I still like the idea though...well see I might end up with one way down the road anyway, lol...
Sorry guys, it definitely depends on the state. There are some states that don't allow handguns until 25(I do believe) and then there are other states that allow it at much younger. A lot of states allow handguns at 18. Federal law bars FFL's from selling handguns to people under 21, so regardless of the state, Gunshops can't sell to under 21.
You can't go wrong with a glock. But as an owner of many handguns including 5 glocks I would have recommended the G27 in .40 S&W. The reason is the .40 has all the stopping power of a .45 and a much better ammo selection in current times. Another reason is the G27 holds 9 rounds in the factory mag but it also excepts the 15 and 13 round mags. The G36 you have has a single stack mag which will NOT accept the higher capacity G21 and G30 mags. The 36 will be a good carry weapon none the less.
I guess Im not a bigt revolverf fan...tried it, it was cool, but I prefer a semi auto, I might get a snub nose 357 thoguh down the road sometime to try them again...
here in Pennsylvania, USA I cna open carry as an adult with no permit needed, but I do have a poermit if I choose to conceal carry, if a cop saw my gun he might approach me to talk about it if he felt the need, but he has no legal right to force me to do anythgin unless Im am in an area I cant carry such as certain government buildings...or on school grounds..
Go to a gun store, they'll be able to spill in the specifics of what you need in order to possess a handgun(including going over magazine capacity limits and such). As for if you want to carry, you do need a permit and issuance of those depends on what county you live in(as to whether law enforcement will issue one or not).
its been documented that peopel have been shot multiple times with 9mm and still keep comming at you...but with a 45 it takes them down, many police departments go with a 40S&W to compramize between stopping power and round count...stopping power is a top priority for a self defense weapon in my opinion
I did soem research before the trade and although the revovlers will always maintain good value, the 586 used right now is sellign for $600 used...on average Im going by gunbroker...anyway the glock is more useful to me at the moment so thats what I wanted...
Keep your eye on wal-mart.. I went today and they had lots of ammo... target... but.. It was 8 dollars and 10 dollars(8 dollars for federal and 10 for Winchester). I didn't pick up any 9mm... Got some Federal .40 s&w instead... Woo.. Nice to start seeing some ammo in wally world again.
With any handgun(even .45,, 357..etc...etc) you can have multiple shots and the attacker can keep coming.. There was an article somewhere, where a guy emptied his gun into his attacker(heart shot, lung shots, etc..etc.) and the guy kept going long enough to kill the guy shooting him.. Round placement is key... and failure to stop drills are even more so.
the price these exact broker is $600 used, but still in better conditon than mine, this glock 36 used is worth about $500 - $550, I know he got the better half of the deal, but I dotn mind...if the glock brings me more pleasure and I shoot it more its worth it to me, even if the S&W was worth 10 times the price...
I suggest taking a class from a school like Tactical Response or Suarez International. These types of schools can show you how to effectively run your Glock and AK should the need arise. Your local shooting range may also have a club that practices just for fun or maybe some friendly competition like actshooters.
I had read that the extra recoil is why the secret service and other government groups stopped using it as the standard cartridge...dont know if theres truth to that though?
Noooooo. Darn. If I knew you where open to training for that S&W, I would had so done that. I could had gotten any of the Glocks. Darn, I loved that revolver and I never even fired it before, lol. If the person who got it is willing, I can deal for it, lol.
to each his own...I woudl rather go through the trouble to carry all this stuff (which really isnt much trouble anyway) and to never need any of it, then to really need something and not have it...I was a boyscout so they punched this stuff into my head at an early age, lol, Im guessing you were never in the scouts?
yes anyone in America that falls under their state laws can carry a gun or as many guns as they want, for me in PA I have certain rules to do so, I cant be a felon and I have to be over 21, which I am...some states have more strict laws, Im juust lucky my state is pro guns..
there are thousands of ameraican thats carry daily and not all of them live in bad neighborsghoods, ironically most of the "bad" places peopel live have stricter gun laws so its even gharder to get a gun legally and carry it, I live in PA, not a bad neighborhood, but its not a perfect world either...
@MATTNATTMATT Not completely but the legislation set up after the Dunblane massacre means that its so stupidly difficult to own, licence and store Firearms in the UK that most people who did, don't any more.
@The1cemanCometh No law enforcement backround etc.. usually its a background check making sure you're not a felon or something, then maybe some extra things depending on where you live. Go to your town/city hall for more info
Hey Jeff, I really like your videos. I was thinking about buying a 9mm handgun but I dont really know what kind I should get. I live in California, do you know if I need a License? My limit is about 500 but I could possibly go to 600 dollars. And, do you know how much license's cost? Thank you.
the VAST majority of concealed carriers never have to use them in defensive roles.... however the ones that do frequently credit the firearm as the thing that saved their life. same principle as a condom... better to have one and not need it than need one and not have it.
Aye, some people don't realize... We had several power outages here one year... We'd be at Target or Wal-Mart and all of a sudden, the power would just go out. So yeah, that's just one reason I carry a flashlight...(I settled on the Energizer 1 watt led tactical flashlight... got it on clearance for 8 dollars).
Not really, leaving loaded to capacity isn't what wears the spring out, loading and unloading is what wears the springs out. Says metallurgist friends of mine.
I'm thinking about getting a 357 Magnum, for some hunting purposes, and maybe self deffense carry when I get my CCW, it was either that or a 9mm. but 357 is powerful for hunting, or self deffense, cause with a 9mm you can have 6 bullets or so wizzing through you and still be comming. What do you think?
lol, thnat I cna buy here legally, BUT just cant afford themn, they cna sell for $30,000 or more, I not kidding, supossidly police departments cna order them for just $600 or so like a regular glock, but they generaly dont buy them...you have to find them on the secondary market and when they go up for sale the prices are rediculous...
oes that make you parnoid that you will get a flat? do you have car insurence? why planning on gettign into an accident? know what I mean...Most of what we do in our lives is to prevent bad thgins from happening, being prepared is a good thing...
I got to ask. Do you think you could get your hands on a Glock G25 or G28 .380 Auto and make a rewiev of it, or maybe a shooting test? I realy like glocks and I want to see if those 2 is worth having... I like to go to the shooting range but I don't want to "waste" money and time getting one so I thought "Hey I can ask the youtube expert" :P
the same reasons cops carry guns...only difference is I dont use it for my job...and hope to bnever have to use it, but then again cops feels the same way for the most part, I have heard of cops goign 35 years without ever having to shoot someone..
why do vops carry guns? no one wants to specifically kiill cops, but when they come upon bad guys they need them, why woudl anyone be any different cop or not?
