Factoid--This was the very first episode of Guts to be broadcast on Nickelodeon (September 19, 1992), though it was the thirty-fifth to be recorded.

Hard to confirm for sure, but a quick search says a "Dr. Eddie Ruiz" started working as a middle school principal in the Orlando area after graduating from UCF in 2001 as a science teacher, and is now a superintendent in the Miami area. He owes it all to Guts!

I thought this was wholesome. In a 2012 interview, Mo was asked her thoughts on Mike O’Malley in the following exchange: “Your co-host on GUTS is now famous sitcom actor Mike O' Malley. Anything you can tell us about him from back then? Was he a dick? He wasn't! I don't think he's changed, even though his life has changed. He's actually really lovely, and sensitive, and has a great deal of integrity. He's a good guy! He's one of the good guys. He's very exuberant, and very A-type, but it's all from a very good place.” As far as Nickelodeon shows go, it’s nice to know that this one seems to have been relatively okay in how it conducted itself.

Just for the record in the horse jump event: JoezZack's kid was dangling for about 9 seconds before the push, but Jimmy's kid only dangled for like 7 seconds and then got pushed.

As a colorblind person, I can’t really tell which of the Playin Guts shirts is blue and which is purple. Odd shades.

Should've stuck with the 8 episode season, do 3 eps of standard 300-200-100 scoring where everyone gets a 1st, 2nd and 3rd pick, a midseason Crag scoring special with draft order determined by standings, then another 3 300-200-100 scoring eps, finishing with a Crag scoring Crag Bowl

Loving this S3 format! I was legitimately shocked that Jess in purple had such a poor performance. She got to the end part of the crag and legit just stood there for like 10 seconds. It was hilariously painful to watch. It was almost like Eddie purposefully made himself a sleeper with his little baby steps intro. If he had shown the enthusiasm he displayed during the rest of the episode during his intro then he would have been a clear #1 pick.

the first event is mainly the kids not angling their jumps after they hit the ground and also not taking any time to set up before jumping, theyre not even turning around all the way so theyre getting this weird momentum that i think is caused from the bunging twisting during the jump. Red wasnt making either of these mistakes

Eddie is my favorite competitor in GUTS history. This kid was both a spaz and a born winner.

Proposal for the inevitable Season 4 rule change: instead of episode by episode, start the season with the intros for ALL the contestants and have a fantasy draft. Total points wins, maybe with a Bonus for each episode winner picked.

I have a way everyone is happy. 6 episode season. There are only 6 possible draft orders so just do 1 show with each order. At the end of the 6 episodes if there is a tie for first a crag brag is held. To break the tie points go 5 for first, 3 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd. The 1st overall pick in a crag brag goes to the person with the most guts points scored (total of each contestants points over the season). If you don't like using total guts points just take Joez's idea of envelopes and have 2 draft orders 1 in each envelope and Mo (Sam in a referee jersey) pick 1 at random.

Getting two Guts episodes in a week really is better than two Christmas’. Draft order went as expected. I was bamboozled by purples struggles. Thought they’d be competitive.

So, I have watched the guts videos even before season 1 of “Playing”, along with both season 1 & 2, and the rule change vlogs. Am I just not paying attention to something that has been said already, because I still don’t understand what the point of the crag brag is?? It doesn’t determine the season winner. The season’s episodes cumulatively determine that. So all of the drafting and trading through out a season is what leads (ideally) to a season win and the prestige/title of that. What is the point of a one off episode between seasons then? Maybe I’m just dumb but I still don’t get why it exists/existed.

Next season I hope they use the final scores, not the Crag scores. Then picks who win by a lot are worth more and there's more certainty when discussing trades.

We should purchase/ make GUTS branded calculators for the boys.

Der Stuka is a speed slide. At the top you climb into a bomb. The operator hits a button and the floor drops out...bombs away.

Just one thing. When the contestant bio appears, I would love to see what it says but the boys are blocking some of the info. Maybe move them to the other side or shrink em for a bit.

the bungie completely ruins that boogie board event. you can see the kids try to keep their back end in the water but the bungee just pulls them out and tilts them forward, there is nothing they can do, that's why we've never seen any kid run the boogie board tip up the whole way.
