If there’s no no guitar symbol, there’s no music on that video..
you can always fast forward though, some are good, others, just noodling..
But it keeps me interested and motivated,to be honest..25 years of the same hat speeches and lingo, it can get tedious.
The guitar keeps it fresher for me, and some music people might actually enjoy it, I think.

Francis Xavier new Stetson straws are being unpacked now, not sure how long before they reach the website but I will have a video as soon as possible, I need to get prices,wait till the stock guys finish up unpacking them.. we have a LOT and they look AMAZING, I saw a straw Asher in a sky blue with white binding, the Luciano in navy and in yellow,a lot of panamas,and any straw westerns, a black one, a dark brown one and a nice darker straw open road with vents on the sides.. just wait, they are coming SOOOOOOOOON😏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍

@@francisxavier. we are loaded on stetson straws now,50-60 styles, but whippet panama vent is not in the line this yr ,the crown was way shallower than the felt whippett,too shallow for some..

@@quadrogong1111 that is what I like about it. Looks super casual but the diamond pork pie adds that little touch of flair. Is the Morgan a JJs exclusive? I can't find any information anywhere but your channel and JJs website, not even from stetson. Maybe they called it something else? Edit: just got the hat. Stetson tag says "vector one". Even less info available on that than the Morgan 😂😂😂🤣🤣 Love the look and fit though.

Kevin love your videos I’m very new to hats and I’m starting to get a few very inexpensive ones I live a little north of Boston and in the cold weather it’s nice to wear something I’d like to see more of your high-end very thin brims style hats some of them that have a little bit more of a luxury look. I wear a lot of double breasted suits with long coats. I’d love to see some more of your luxury style Fedoras in ivory and light silver gray.

Man I wish I had a quality hat store near me like yours. I live in rural Indiana . Nearest hat store is in Chicago or Indy both two hrs away. I would need to work some extra overtime to buy all the hats I could get. I bought a vintage Stetson today fits perfectly. Looks a lot like that Biltmore you showed but the band is narrower. Normally I get wider brims but for some reason I thought this Stetson I got today looked good. Its brown. Like new . Got it at a quality antique store.

I have the Dayton, which is the Dobbs version of the Saxon. They are identical as far as I can tell and made by the same company from what I understand. I have two, one in cordova and one in steel gray. Awesome hats.

Twice the price ... the stetson is a modern hi tech,high quality cap,lighter,slim,perfect shape.. but the JJ is more old school apple jack, wider, stiffer, with a snap in front.. way more authentic, but the stetson is more like the modern day classic, and very,very well made

Very similar, almost identical shape.. my hat is a model we sold 10-15 years ago,the Classico Plus. Discontinued. But we are getting one in soon that JUST like it in royal blue, powder blue, neon red and magenta.. called the Ontario. When it arrives I'll do a video so u know it's here

I got Explorer on sale. Best hat I've owned. Question: how will it perform under rain?

It won’t do well in the rain, I wouldn’t risk it. The felt is actually totally rainproof, but the hat itself is so thin, and minimal..any serious water weight on it will knock her out of shape, and there’s a chance it’ll dry out of shape. it might do just fine, but if I have other hats, I’d wear those.. most likely a drizzle or light sprinkle won’t do anything, but getting it really soaked might not be a good idea. Those are very night quality, but also probably THE lightest weight felt hat on the market,at any price.. they’re built for lightness, travel, comfort but most fur felt crushable hats are a little vulnerable to extreme weather. If it starts getting really,really soaked..I’d pop in a candy store,get a plastic bag and cover it.. amazing hats, but some of them did phenomenally w water, others were sensitive.. we sold thousands of those hats for almost a decade,and then Stetson came out with an American made version of it, called the adventure hat, so we tried that one year,instead of the explorer..and they all wound up on the discount rack.

Those were awesome but Stetson on,y had a limited number of those beaver felt bodies, they ran out shortly after, so they are no longer available.. they’re long gone. yes, it had a short crown , so it’s a good choice, anything with a lower crown, like a Stetson Saxon, Stetson Asher.. Stetson hasn’t shipped hats in many,many months..they’re having issues with the pandemic and they completely stopped shipping.. we hope they will start up again this October and November, that’s when they usually arrive..I’d expect delays ..we will be compensating w other brands to supplement the inventory until they start arriving again

Kevin would you recommend the wool version of the stetson temple? I dont think you guys carry it but just wanna know if its worth the fur felt over the wool version.

No, it's crap, that's cool if you really really want the Stetson name,in a budget, otherwise, in the $100 range, I'd suggest the Lite Felt hats like The Atlantic, The Blues, Litefelt Teardrop etc The felt on those wool Temples are barely good enough to be called hat felt, it's closer to the wool felt stuff used in kindergarten arts & crafts . The wool felt Whippet is worse, hard like a stone, u can pound it on the table top like a gavel, it's hard, heavy,stiff and although it has the looks, at those prices, I'd look for one of our half priced gur felts,like a Cordoba, or whatever.. We discontinued those hats for a reason, we didn't like the feel,the quality or the performance of those hats.. wool felt isn't great imo unless u go w the litefelt Crushable stuff

We hope, they’re on order for a very long time, Stetson just never shipped them..I’m fairly sure they haven’t shipped anyone else though. they had serious issues getting the hats out last winter,and the year before was almost as bad.. half the stuff we ordered never arrived. If they arrive, we won’t refuse them, but who knows?.. they’re 5-6 months late already, so I wouldn’t bet on too many felts arriving. I’d guess they’re concentrating on straws now. It might happen, but we have no idea..they’re back ordered from November

Kevin, is the taupe color in the cordoba the same as in the ken, and did I understand you to say the ken is more a 2 1/8 brim and the cordoba is a 2” brim, how does the sizing run in these hats , and as always great job on the videos they are reason I’ve bought two fedoras from JJ’s

The Mackenzie is cotton, but it’s treated with some type of wax. But if it’s bees wax, I don’t think they hurt the bees, they just harvest the wax. No idea where the wax comes from though, could be non animal sourced.. u can ask Hills Hats On their Facebook page,message them. They’ll know www.jjhatcenter.com/products/the-mackenzie I’m a vegetarian, but not vegan,but my sister is. (no way I’m giving up ice cream,pizza or Mac n cheese!) so I understand all the concern, the only choices that are non wool-based would be waxed cotton, cotton and linen hats for summer, and straws.. as far as winter stuff, it’s usually wool, all I can think of would be a really warm, acrylic, knit ski cap for winter, acrylic is supposed to be great for wicking perspiration away from the body, as sweat will chill you in winter.. a lot of pro runners use acrylic socks for this reason, it actually performs better than cotton in that respect,supposedly. Kevin thank you for the videos, you rock bro. I wanted to know if you like Stetson as a company. I do like buying American but I am very interested in the Seville. I am sure from price alone the Seville is a better hat. Do you not like Stetson and Akubra hats? I saw your videos on them. So I am a little confused on which hats are the stiff cheap fur ones that you hate. Both my open road and Akubra are stiff and I thought you mentioned that was. a good thing. I may have had too much coffee and just did not understand. Thank you again you rock!!! Love the videos

I can’t say enough about akubra, they last forever and take rain better than almost any other hat brand. I like anything they make. The Seville is a custom made hat and very high quality, everyone who gets them is delighted, but they run a size smaller than Stetson. You have to order a size higher in a Seville. I do prefer them over most fedoras, but it’s a softer,luxurious hat..akubra is a little stiffer. The stiff hats I was referring to in that video u mentioned, was the Stetson Open Road. I wear a Stetson temple and I like it, I like the Asher, the whippet, the Saxon..they are a good brand but I wouldn’t suggest a Temple if u are expecting rain or getting it wet. Although mine has been perfect, no issues at all..those Temples are not built for rain, they’re soft.. ,while your akubra or a Stetson western hat might be more appropriate... I think every hat Stetson sells is different, but in whole, it’s great stuff, especially lately.. but the open road 6x is a kind of stiff,that’s the only one I was referring to.

Yes, same brim, but the European Custom quality and design..very similar. It’s called The Ken, but we used to do that hat in half merino wool,half rabbit fur, for $165.. we changed the model to a full fur felt, called the Ken still, but it’s way higher quality felt $290 I 🤔 think... BUT.. the older version of this hat from last year has a different edge to the brim, called The Córdoba , the same edge as your Saxon.. and that one is now HALF PRICE $145.. which is cost, so u can get a Córdoba now for $145 which blows this hat in the video away, same hat, full fur felt, stronger edge.. that’s the deal of the millennium 😂 jjhatcenter.com

Sandpaper start w medium,then fine,extra fine,rub evenly around the whole area,not just the stain. Buff it out

Hat was discontinued long ago.. nope sorry, and stetsons are not shipping, u will need to buy them from their website, it’s the only place that has stock now, we won’t see them for a while

The OLD Ken was a totally different hat, that’s 50% wool, and those are just gone..barely any left , it’s a 7-8 year old style.. those were not all fur felt,they’re merino wool and rabbit, the Ken that we sell now is a similar looking hat, but it’s the same quality as the Seville, just with a shorter brim. Forget those $165 ones, those disappeared years ago,u may have saw an old video. That old Ken is ancient. Gone. But.. There is a last years version of the Ken on 50% off now, it’s called the Córdoba , that’s the same hat as the Ken with a welted edge, we changed the edge and renamed it to the Ken. Instead of $290, it should be $145, same hat as a Ken, with a stronger,thicker edge. The Seville is a classic hat, like my green one. I like it a lot, the Ken is a medium brim version of the Seville. It depends on your taste in brims.

They are made by the same company that makes Stetson and Resistol hats, just a different line. They're great! I had one years ago with a bullet holes in it,I fave it away though.

There is no size 10 though, no ten, u may have remembered it wrong maybe seven?.. 56cm european is a size 7 (US size) (the smaller side of size Medium) 7 1/8= med 7 1/4= large 7 3/8= large 7 1/2= XL 7 5/8=XL

biltmore, generally they use a diamond for small brims, and a teardrop for larger brims, there are no no large brim diamond crowns..

The issue is made in Spain. I always believe that made in Italy or French or England and even proper American made hats (Irish for classic Irish hat and made in Germany made) are much reputable and higher quality than something from Spain or Portugal.

Yeah. U would think so. I used to feel that way.. Until u sell them,and become truly familiar w dress hat brands itz hard to truly know.. US made stuff usually has highest overhead. advertising,paying employees higher salaries,rent..etc The US stuff gives u way,way less bang 4 the buck.. We are using Spanish hats from Fernandez De Roche now because the hats we sell from them at $165 perform way better than what other US brands are offerings for $210-250 plus we get to design the hats. Years ago we used Biltmore from Canada because they were the best stuff around, later we switched our custom hats to italian Tesi hats.. Brands grow strong, others cut corners and use paper sweatbands painted to look like leather, crap felt and continue to charge a bundle. Ive been here 24 years, and i can tell u this..its not that simple.. Italian hats that cost $400-600 must be dead perfect.. u start seeing curling,crap felt, Thin felt, or any kind of corner-cutting at that price and 90% of them get returned by customers, we lose our rep,and lose $, Not to sound arrogant,but the lady who owns JJ's knows her shit.. big time, she can spot a poorly blocked hat by holding it for 5 seconds. Brands get good, then they absolutely suck.. it changes from year to year. This will blow your mind..some if the most reliable hats that never went through a rough era?.. come from the Czech Republic. From Selentino/Tonak ( still great since 1799) Their stuff is like a classier stetson, costs less and perform way more reliably.. but who ever heard of them, right? People want to see Stetson or Borsalino. Like Gibson or Fender People WANT that label.

That is a very old hat that is no longer made, it was called The Classico Plus, it’s been out of production for 8-10 years at least.. Mine are 10-15 years old. They were made by a great company called Borsalino,but then they had a bad bankruptcy, went out of business..and then returned again,but the felt changed,the prices changed,the quality changed... it was a custom design, we designed it When the prices, (which ranged from $$350-550) shot up to $550-1,000 ! and the quality became...average. we decided we didn’t want to continue selling them any longer.. We r still trying to find a hat company w the Kelly green felt like mine, the closest hat we have is probably The Ontario, The Seville is the same exact shape/silhouette but less vibrant colors..

Don’t worry about a sharp front crown. That’s something u shape yourself, nothing will come with a tight pinch like that, it take five seconds to make it sharper, u just pinch it, there are many,many choices for this kind of hat, it depends on your face, build..also, it’s straw season now, we get our felts in September, so the choices are super slim now..in the fall I’ll have a dozen IJ styles for u to choose fro,. I can suggest the Ontario by Magill, in brown , or the Selentino Hudson in brown. The Stetson Temple is a fan favorite, (Temple..temple of doom, get it?) That comes in. Color called Mink, that’s a dead on IJ hat, just have to fine tune the crown yourself, it’ll never co,e the way u want it, sharp..but u can just pinch the crown to get a tighter pinch
