We finally took a drive for New Hogan Lake to look for new fishing grounds. The place is really beautiful, water quality is top notch. The scenery is nice. Thanks to my friend Long for telling me about this place. Hopefully one day we can fish this lake.

Hello looks like you went there on a Sunday you parked next to my gold Dodge Ram truck 🛻 alone there. You got there around am I believe. I caught 8 Stripers that day all the way beyond Coyote point camp 🏕 ground. Fly lures are popular at Hogan , sometimes trolling with live minnows work too. Fittleneck near launch boat is good too in early morning I have caught size 26, 23, 20 there last year . I hope you guys had a good time and when you guys see me say hi 👋 cuz I’m in Old Town PDL120 kayak with a Tuna flag 😂. Good Luck!

Hi Giovanna, Thank you so much for this very useful info. Yes, we parked next to a truck that day, (Wished to have see you and talk to you personally). We visited New Hogan Lake to gather info about camping, fishing etc.... We were asking everyone for some informations, we spoke to a very nice families @ upper parking lot and they were very helpful to us. We also talked with the Park Ranger and he was very informative as well. If i see you one of this days, I will definitely stopped by and say hello and introduce myself properly. You only want to go to hogan lake if you can get on the water with fish finder, Striper fishing from shore is only productive during shad spawn, November-Jan, late winter

We went to that spot but all the way down the cove and caught a 10 lb catfish and a few stripers

I'm planning of taking my boat sometime this summer. What are your recommendations? Bait gears?

@@fishermanally to chase the boils, people recommend shad imitation swim lures and jerkbait. White keitech on a jig head or slam shady swimbait on a weighed swimbait hook

I'm planning an overnight fishing there or at least till 10pm. I had a good conversations with a Ranger and he said night fishing seems heating up. Sounds good Brother, let's keep in touch.

Go get them while it’s hot! One of my best local lake to fish during spring thru fall. Stripers should be boiling / Blitzing right now as they feed on thread-fin shad , for any new comers/ fellow fisherman , I do recommend you throwing swim baits of 3-5” inch natural colors white , white -chartreuse , match the hatch. As right now I see a lot of fishermen throwing flying shad /trolling depths of 25-35ft. Just not my style of catching them. But you can also find them shallow feeding early morning. I like chasing island points , coves. I tend to find them sometime feeding the 15-20ft. This lake is Awesome since you can keep any size striper 10 limit per person. Lastly if you’re bored , soaking anchovies night time is awesome. You’ll catch them / sometime if you run into a school. It’s countless actions. Goodluck and have fun out there
