I use Primitive survival mod too, and I quite like it. Fishing is actually pretty easy, once you figure out how it works. I always have an abundance of fish to cook, so it makes surviving just that much easier when there is no other food available. Just remember to throw the ovulated fish eggs back into place where you got the fish. You can bait fishing hooks with pretty much anything, even berries and grain. There is also smoker that you can use to smoke your red and bush meat (if I remember correctly), once you got access to planks. Smoking the meat is easy and pretty quick and it makes it last very long time. Too bad that it doesn't seem to work on the fish fillet you get using that mod. You can also use your knife on bush meat to make into dried meat/jerky. And yes, I've gotten bitten by the snakes as well 🥲 I hunted it down and made it into snake stew. Sometimes revenge is delicious.

you can use ladders or rough fence for windows until you get glass, you did fish right, though more cordage for stretching across water for trout line. Probably would be better in a pond/lake, than river, you don't have to bait em.

On the trot line, you have to have enough cordage, in your hand, to make it all the way across to the other stake. You had 4 and it was many more than that across. Really pretty area you are in :) Did you explain what that thing is in your hovel? It looks like a bed, but I have never seen that before. Curious. That quartz at about 31:26 looks like a geode. Might have crystals in it!

I wonder if the river current is too fast for fish to get caught. I guess because one of the worms got eaten that there are fish in the river so I'm really not sure.

No, there are plenty of fish. I upgrade the fishing setup in a future episode.
