I Love the pond the way it is!!! It was so interesting to watch the turtle up close before he went to his new home. I think you should do this more often. Turtles are just so interesting and seeing how they swim and find hiding places is so much fun to watch. The cichlids are beautiful and also so much fun to watch. Having Guapo and Slinkly swimming in there was so much fun. I envy you, being able to interact with such magnificent animals!

What a glorious addition to your turtles ! Your biggest Orlitia Borneensis, and a rescue. I can not imagine what that lucky turtle is thinking.... such a big, naturalized habitat with plenty of hiding places in your Big Pond.. You have given another soul a very, very good home ! 💜

been watching for 4-5 years, my favorite channel on RU-vid! But since you asked.. the lilies look great, but I would have absolutely held off until after the new pond was ready! I would not priorities lilies over my turtles, and I just hate seeing those big turtles in those tubs! Yeah the tubs are big, but so are those turtles! You’re the turtle guy! Not the lilies guy! I’m pretty sure we all watch for the turtles not the plants! lol Since you’ve already have so many, I wouldn’t just sacrifice the plants, but i’d probably move all those lilies in to the tubs temporarily, instead of the turtles, and give your animals the space they deserve!

Make another riverine style pond for the other turtles, and maybe just keep the rec pond for smaller turtles I.e Nile soft shells, and other African turtles to go with the African cichlids?

Looks like there are some mollies and guppies in the pond. You should get yourself 3 outdoor fixed female cats and they will keep the herons away and will also deter raccoons and possums. As long as you feed them they will stay on your property. Just a thought.😊😊❤

IMO, leaving the rec pond turtle free so the lilies propser would please Kate, and happy wife, happy life. Having such a pretty spot right off the patio is so nice for entertaining and even for when you host tours and groups. Shows Aquascape and Toms stuff off at their best.

Great new addition! Should do a detritus siphon on the bottom of your rec pond, as you have quite the buildup lol. Would be a cool video to see.

Kenan you need Rainbow cichlids. They're hair Algae specialists and can handle colder temps because they're central American. They flare up bright pumpkin orange when it's warm

You need to get a few more BRIGHT cichlids added to the pond, like peacocks! Some orange and yellow. Hopefully the fish you have a more cold tolerant.

I was gonna say if the orlitia dont eat plants you could make that pond the orlitia pond cause i love seeing them but we dont get to see them enough which for being one of the largest turtles on the planet i would love to see all of them swimming around together.

Honestly I don't know, 🤨. I believe he did one video many many many years. It's definitely on the murky side cause both the alligator snapping turtles live in there from papa freds and I'd see them also slowly moving underwater 🫧

Man that pond has sooo much potential, if it wouldn’t get destroyed by the turtles you could plan a lot of beautiful aquatic plants. What is the temperature of the water in the coldest season Kenan? Because there are so much more species that you could keep other than cichlids and the mosquitofish you have now!

Kenan you know there are beautiful fish that are native that would do fantastic in the pond. Look up pumpkin seed sunfish and longear sunfish. I know cichlids are cool but we have natives that are just as beautiful if not more so. I would love to see these in your pond. You can order these from jonahs aquarium. You wouldn’t have to worry about cold temperatures. As long as it doesn’t freeze solid these guys do great as they’re natives.
